I took my dd's back-to-school shopping today ... my wallet is now in major pain Staples made a killing off of me today I'm still not sure exactly what I'll be cooking tonight but I'm leaning towards chili as it is getting kind of yucky outside and I'm craving it What's on your menu?

Tonight is my pity party. All kids leave tomorrow morning. They have a 15 hour drive ahead of them. The cars are all packed and youngest dd is going with the older kids to check out the university. I have tortellini soup cooking. We are having salad and fresh bread with it. The in-laws are joining us for dinner which is always fun <--- that sounds sarcastic, which it's not - they are wonderful grandparents to my kids and great parents to dh and I They are bringing wine, beer and cake & ice cream.

Pizza and breadsticks from a place that is not close to home, but I can grab it on my way home without too much trouble. The best part is the garlic cream cheese dip that is available for the breadsticks.

I'm feeling lazy tonight so it's paninis. I'm copying one I had a few weeks ago at a restaurant my dad and I went to. They used bacon, tomato, cheddar and provolone cheese on grilled ciabatta bread. I'm going to toss a few fresh spinach leaves on mine. I'll make a salad too if DH wants one.

I have BBQ pork chops and roasted potatoes in the oven and peas and carrots ready to eat. Smells wonderful.
It sure is hard to find a BBQ sauce with no fructose corn syrup as an ingredient.

Leftovers tonight. It is warm today, and BF has likely been helping the roofer take off the old roof. He'll be in no mood to cook, and I certainly am not, either. I made a Greek quinoa salad this morning for a potluck at work.

I'd planned to make fish tacos but forgot to get the mahi mahi out of the freezer. I have sausages in the fridge, so it will be something with those. Dh is out tonight, I'm thinking some sort of sausage/pasta thing for the boys, and sausage and sauteed cabbage for me. Not very exciting. Oh well.

And Irish cream soda.

The company I work for is celebrating its 5 year anniversary tonight so we are all going to a brewery for dinner and a beer. The duck tacos sound good to me!

I am making spaghetti pie. It's a recipe I saw on the Today Show. Matt Lauer said it was the best thing he's eaten on the show in two months!

We've had son and daughter-in-law and grand daughter (20) here for a couple of days so we are eating what they left. We took grand daughter to Spudly's last night for baked potatoes - she and Papa Woody got Super Spuds so we brought home leftovers. I had potato skins and brought home leftovers. They also stopped the first night they got to New Orleans and bought pizza. SO, Papa Woody and I had leftover pizza (Little Caesar's) and leftover Spudly's. Thank goodness we don't mind leftovers. All kids are back in Mississippi safe and sound - we thoroughly enjoyed their fast and furious visit.

Meh not sure. I might be going out for drinks later and I'm not hungry now. Possibly a grilled cheese sandwich.

DS has soccer practice and begged me to make spaghetti before he goes. He knows I hate boiling water when I'm trying to keep the house cool so almost died when he came down to eat and saw the fusilli (his favorite) with tomato & spinach meat sauce waiting for him.

I don't know but it will have to be near a Target because I have to pick up bandages. I must be punchy because is cracked me up for some reason. What is going on in your home that requires a special trip for band aids? I wish there was a scintillating story behind it but I just need more flexible cohesion bandages for my dog. She has a small wound on the top of her paw that needs to dry and heal. For the past 10 days it's been a cycle of bandages and no-cone or airing it out and her wearing a cone. We've been having a heatwave so I don't like to cone her for too long but she loves to unwrap her bandages and lick her wound. I even bought a special boot on Amazon to cover the bandages But I still need the cohesion bandages to cover the Velcro or she will undo the Velcro to slip off the boot. Now all I have left at this point are Sponge Bob and Pocahontas band-aids so I have to make a target run for rolls of that special bandage.

DH got in today from a 3 weeks overseas business trip, a few days a ago he requested simple basic food, after weeks of unfamiliar food. I made a chicken stew in the crock pot, and served it with rice.

We had BLTs. The garden tomatoes are coming in, and bacon was on sale, so it sounded like a good idea. Unfortunately, all that was left at the store was thick cut bacon, and I don't really care for that. It doesn't cook up very evenly, and it is tough in a sandwich. The tomatoes were really good though!

I made crab cakes and a light salad. This was the first time I made crab cakes and they were really good. DH has already asked for me to make sure I make them again.

I'm about to start making cheeseburgers and will cut up melon to go with them. This is for my semi-Kosher sister who can't eat cheeseburgers at home. Last night was my birthday. My mom hosted a party in the lounge at Trader Vic's for me and a dozen of my nearest and dearest. It's my family's sentimental favorite place to have fancy tropical drinks and eat appetizers, have dinners and holiday brunches and parties and even a wedding reception or two. (It's also where all the elderly Jewish people around here traditionally like to eat. haha hahahaha)

I made the manicotti that was in the fridge and I baked it around lunchtime, let it cool and stuck it in the fridge thinking I would heat it up for dinner. Then the power went out. And stayed out for several hours so I had no way of heating up the manicotti. It was starting to get humid in the house and so I called a friend and we met for dinner. Wouldn't you know, as soon as I got to the restaurant, my neighbor text me that the power came back on. We went to Cracker Barrel and I had the shrimp. I will eat that manicotti tomorrow if it kills me. ETA - happy birthday lucyg

lucyg, Happy Belated Birthday! May your year be full of joyous moments and wonderful memories. Oh, and delicious dinners. I made garlic chicken w/peppers from the garden, peas and brown rice. It's the easiest meal and very flavorful.
