rest and relax! I'm taking a couple hours off this afternoon to lay around with no pants on and read a book! That part is funny on it's own, but when I saw that your status is currently "Throbbing Again" I had to laugh. And add her profession to the mix and Steph probably had herself a great afternoon!

Cry, no matter who is around. After what was to be a routine colonoscopy Friday, later that night my husband went by ambulance to the hospital with a hole in his colon where a polyp was removed. He had emergency surgery at 4:00am Saturday. Gas and poop was all in his body cavity. He now has an incision from sternum to pubic area. It's been a very hard week since then. Biopsy results yesterday showed that the big polyp causing this fiasco was an aggressive pre-cancer. But the second biggest polyp was cancer. The doctor described it like a flower on a long stem. The flower portion had the cancer, but the stem did not or the base so she's confident she got it all. We've all been waiting for my husband to have a BM. He has not been able (and hasn't wanted to) eat or drink until he has a BM. He finally did this morning but there was a lot of blood. When I got to the hospital he was sitting in a chair shaking and crying in fear. He's on a floor where the nurses typically do not care for patients with his surgery so the nurse told him blood wasn't normal and he may need to undergo another procedure. They quickly called the surgeon who said it was completely normal and what they were waiting for. This has been such a whirlwind. Friday should have been no big deal. Saturday we planned to go to breakfast for a day of biking. Now he's in the hospital for at least a week. 6 week recovery. They are not planning on chemo at this time but will repeat a colonoscopy in 2-3 months. He's only 47. On the positive side, this was discovered with a routine colonoscopy. He had no symptoms. Usually my husband is stubborn and won't go to the doctor. However, we have a close friend who had a cancer scare a few months ago so I told my husband it's time for a physical. We have good insurance that pays 100% of preventive - no reason not to go. I'm proud of him for actually following through and doing all of this. It truly may have saved his life this time. ((((hugs)))) to you and your dh.

To buy more Radiant Pearls whenever I find them on eBay. I just purchased 13 jars, all colors I don't already have. I have every jar I own logged into a notebook, both by basic color group and by the names given the individual jars.
ETA: I now have 86 colors. Well, that includes the 13 on order.

To ignore the laundry. I've got a load in the dryer and a load in the washer and I'm ignoring them for tonight. I didn't walk in the door until almost 8 PM tonight after leaving the house around 6:45 this morning. I'm tired and I'm doing nothing.

...Put my house on the market. I kept it after the divorce 9 years ago to provide some stability to my kiddos while they were still in school, but they are both college graduates now and boy howdy... it's tough doing it all by myself! Although I've learned to be handy, there is no reason to be tied to home maintenance any more! I dream of a condo!

I retired recently and have given myself permission to not do anything (part time) until after Christmas. I am really good at giving myself permission because lately I have been waking up after nine and getting my butt out of bed around ten or eleven and being showered by noon. I generally go to bed after one or two. I told my husband I am making up for all of those sick and personal days I didn't take. Thankfully he supports my sloth like behavior (for now) and works two days a week so we aren't together every single minute.

I'm giving myself permission to stop and take a deep breath. I need to do that too! I'm in the middle of our agency audit, HUD audit and county audit...all at the same time. Allowing myself to stop and breath is probably a good idea right now. I feel your pain. Just finished our 401k audit, prepping documents for CPA to do the tax return then get ready for DDS to come in and audit. I'm considering retirement!!!!

I'm giving myself permission to lead at work and not apologize for it. The boss is out for 8 weeks and I am the acting boss, so folks will have to respect my authority at least a little.
I am giving myself permission not to be ambushed at work with irrelevamt tasks I can't actually complete and to say no instead.

Today I woke up feeling pretty chilled for a change and, even though I've been working and it's now lunchtime, I'm still pretty chilled so I intend to continue this very pleasant feeling by having an easy afternoon and doing some cross stitching while watching my favourite TV programme this evening.

I'm sorry for what your husband is going through idahomom but it're great that it was caught early. Hope he does very well from here on out. And thank you, because I've had my first colonoscopy done, but my husband has put his off repeatedly due to work. Guess who's going to get nagged now incessantly until he schedules it?

I've given myself permission to remove the blackberry vines from my fence line. Their copious production has been a guilty obligation for me for the last 5 years.
I don't like blackberries enough to endure the heat and mosquito bites while harvesting the berries.
I'm going to plant okra in that spot next summer! I'd endure heat and bug bites to have okra.

sharlag- you should advertise your blackberry vines on Craig's list and get someone to come pull them up for free. A lot of people would love to do a little work to get free blackberry plants!

I already have coworkers who want them. I'm going to cut the vines off short and they can have the plants. They're (the blackberry plants) very vigorous and I'm sure I'll be fighting them in that area of my yard for years to come.

Its ok to take the pain the meds when I need too. I'm still recovering from shoulder surgery. Everything is super tender. It's getting better but it really hurts later in the day or when I first wake up. I'm trying to take it slow and be patient. I just don't like to take the meds if I don't have too.
