I've been doing back layouts for my 2013 Project Life and I came upon the week of the Boston Marathon bombings. Thankfully I'd said something in my pre-written journalling or I would have forgotten about it and not documented it. (Not forgotten it happened, I'll always remember that, just *when* it happened). That got me thinking about the other things that happen in the news, even in "pop news" that I could be forgetting if I didn't write it down in my journalling. Especially for 2001-2012 which I also have to go back and do PL for.
Does anyone know of a source, a website or wiki, that keeps records of "big in the news" events in one place? I tried searching once, but only came up with things like Time covers. Like, the Tsunami in Indonesia I can look up (will have to..), or the Hati earthquakes, that's googleable as a single event. But is there a rundown of all important things that happened in a year hiding out there somewhere?

Dave Barry does a "Year in Review" every January. I'm not sure how far back it goes, or how thorough it is, but you will be entertained. Maybe the search "Year In Review" search term will yield some other summaries.
I forget to include current events in my scrapbooks. It would be an interesting thing to look back on. Nice idea.

I would google "2012 year in review", or something like that. Or maybe "top news stories 2012"

Yeah, I've searched those things before. Just not finding what I need. Guess there isn't something like I'm thinking of. :/

I've been thinking the same thing so I just Googled it and found this. Is this kind of what you're looking for? www.factmonster.com/news/2013/current-events/You can choose different years/months too. I just chose last year. ETA: Just browsing that site, there are a lot of interesting things that I either didn't know or had forgotten about. I may just have to add yet another scrapbook to my ever growing list. |
