Is it wrong of me to hope the next scandal involves Daddy Duggar? Maybe it will knock him off that high horse he rides. move on to a new brood mare, baby mama, wife?

I am a nit cynical. A part of me thinks she is distancing herself from him because she's pregnant and want to make money being on magazine covers. Another part believes that she is just following her father in law and doing what her husband tells her. I also think it's about the money. Neither she nor her husband have real jobs, they need to make sure they have a way to make money and tv shows/appearances etc are all they know. ^^^ I don't know why this struck me so hard, but it did... in my opinion, THIS (text in red) is a LARGE part of how Jim Bob and Michelle FAILED (and continue to fail the ones that are still at home) their children, in not giving them opportunities to learn real-world knowledge and skills to function on their own as adults.

Where do they live? How do they support themselves and their children?

No matter what she does, it won't be the "right thing" in the eyes of all the Duggar critics. If she remains silent, she's weak. If she supports her family, she's brainwashed. If she speaks out against Josh, she's after the money. I wouldn't want to be in her shoes right now for anything in the world. It's a shame that the general public can't just accept her for who she is, understand that she's an adult making her own decisions now, and respect whatever decisions she makes without picking them apart and criticizing them ceaselessly. I agree with this to an extent. But when her "opnion" changes week to week, it is kinda hard not to wonder why.

It could be as simple as when she learned of JD's most recent conduct, it made real his past conduct, which she/they had been trying to wish away. The Duggars are not any different than any other family who defends members who have committed despicable acts. (The only real difference is the major hypocrisy between their judgmental spewings and (hopefully only) their son's conduct). Who really believes that their loved ones are capable of some of the heinous actions human beings commit? Sometimes, it takes awhile making the turn around in attitude seem more sudden than it is.

And I have to disagree with this. Jill has been training to be a midwife for a few years. One of the older boys is going to college this year. Josh was taught business and had his own small dealership before getting into politics. Ben is currently in college - they even showed him studying while on his honeymoon. I'm sure other Duggar children are also doing things to prepare for adulthood and careers as well. I really don't think they are denied an education or real-world opportunities to have a career.

That is more due to the religion than the show. The only jobs they can pursue in their religion are midwives (which I thought Jessa was already?) or mothers. I don't even think they are even allowed/supposed to work outside the home. The girls wanted to be paramedics but Jim Bob wouldn't let them wear the uniform unless it was a skirt. That was a few years back now.
They live in Arkansas. Jim Bob owns a few businesses (the car lot that Josh "owned" for one), flips houses and they had no debt apparently when they built their house and started on TLC. I'm sure they have money from the show, appearances, the books they've written and the times they've been on "tour".

I think the boys are given much more opportunities than the girls. John David flies a cargo plane and small commercial ones. Josh had the car lot. The girls are much more limited. Jana wanted to be a nurse but was kept at home to care for the younger kids. **FTR, I didn't start this to criticize Jessa. I was just wondering how she could be so vehement in her defense of Josh with the molestation and then getting into it with Anna's brother on her FB page defending her brother, to sending people to read her FIL's blog post totally slamming Josh all in just a week or ten days. That was what I was totally confused about.

IMHO, I think she is so angry because this was supposed to be the happiest time in her life and Josh has turned her life upside down and ruined it for her.

I don't think she had a complete turn around--she has always stated that her brother was wrong!
She posted a scripture verse regarding confessing sins and forgiveness not defending her brothers actions!!!

I agree with this to an extent. But when her "opnion" changes week to week, it is kinda hard not to wonder why. This teeters a little on victim shaming, if I am reading you wrong please forgive me... Maybe her opinion keeps changing because she was brainwashed by a cult led by only her father in religion, molested by her brother and not protected by her parents as a child? So she is afraid of betraying the family that did these things and she is new and scared of expressing her own thoughts.

I more bothered by the fact that the Seewald family seems more upset over his cheating on his wife than molesting his sisters. The Seewald patriarch stated that he did not want a rehash of the events earlier this year (I'm assuming to save Jessa anymore embarrassment)

I said this on the other thread, but I predict a pregnancy scandal. I vote for child porn! It wouldn't surprise me one bit. Once upon a time I would have thought this was a crazy a statement. That was before I belonged to 2 peas and know that the peas have some good intuition about this stuff. I don't want this to be true, but this would not surprise me.

Well, first let me say, I was raised in the same religion so I have some insight in its workings- and while I wasn't abused by my brother and my parents were slightly more lenient, I was raised with many, many "Jessas". I don't believe, based on my first hand experience she is still expressing her own thoughts- she can't within this religion. She has gone from expressing her father's thoughts to expressing her husbands (and by extension, his dad's). It all has to with "headship". As long as she continues in the religion she will never be able to express her own opinion. And that was my only point. The above post references my earlier posts on the subject, I am not sure how the opinion she seems to still be spouting other people's opinions is victim shaming.

That's pretty much how I read this latest piece too. It stated that what he did was wrong and offered redemption through Christ. I think that is what she said before. The sentiment and verses she used in her initial post are the very same verses and wording used when anyone "within" the inner fundy circle screws up to tell those being critical to basically, MYOB, they've sought God's forgiveness and it's all good now". I took it as those being critical of him being put in their place. In the second piece, she seemed pretty open to daddy In law's criticism. That's where I see the turn around.

Your comment about her expressing her thoughts leads me to believe we agree. Thanks for clarifying. Tough crowd these last few days, even when walking on eggshells.

She's trying to remain relevant. Show is gone, no special delivery episode. Neither have any marketable skills and I doubt she even has her GED. Only way for her to make money is speaking engagements and trying to get her own show on television. I know very little about the Duggars, but I assumed that they all completed their GED's. Isn't that the goal of homeschooling? Was this ever discussed on the show?

Most homeschoolers do not get their GED, their parents keep transcript and issue diplomas - some use accredited private school curriculum at home and get diplomas through them. Many take the ACT or SAT as well. Most colleges do not require a GED from homeschoolers but review their transcripts and test scores like any other applicant.
