Well, that was disappointing! After 5 minutes of play, LSU's game was cancelled after a 3+ hours lightning/rain delay. So, we head into Starkville to play Mississippi State with no tune-up game under our belts. The good news is that Mike the Tiger got in his trailer to wait for the visiting team to come out of their dressing room. First time in over 2 years! Geaux Tigers!! Who does your team play?

After losing to Temple in the most embarrassing game in college football history last weekend, Penn State now has the first of 5! home games in a row. We play Buffalo, and I will mercifully be out of town so I won't be at the game.
The biggest part of me wants to call for the kicking to the curb of our head coach and all the offensive coaching staff (did I mention that our star quarterback Christian Hackenberg, who has had been projected to be a first round NFL draft pick, had TEN SACKS! IN ONE GAME!), but the perennial hopeful optimist in me wants to say that last week was just a fluke and we'll get our shit together this week. My middle name is Pollyanna.
GO LIONS!

Well, cadoodlebug, my Bulldogs are going against your Tigers. It's tough to root for a Mississippi team and live in New Orleans. I'll pull out my State shirt and wear it on Saturday. Most of my family went to Ole Miss so I cheer them on too (Fresno State, this week). Have a niece that works Sports Medicine at Bama so I'm a Bama fan too. They play Mid Tennessee. Going to be a fun weekend. Then my beloved Saints play on Sunday. Can't wait!!!!!

Florida plays East Carolina.
I am hoping (praying) that last weekend was a precursor of things to come and this new coach is the miracle worker we all wanted him to be. The Gator Nation has high expectations for Coach McElwain.
Go Gators!

You had me until you said you are a Bama fan too. You have lots of teams to cheer for. I cheer for the Saints unless they are playing the Niners. We went to a Niners/Saints football game in the Dome the day after our wedding in 1984. DH's friends (he is from the Bay Area) were amazed that I suggested it, got free tickets on the 45-yard line and love football. They won the Super Bowl that year.

Our o-line has been weak for a few years, but much of the debacle last week was caused by very very very poor play calling.

My Ole Miss Rebels are playing the Fresno State Bulldogs at home. Hopefully it will be another win for us! And sorry to say cadoodlebug but I'll be rooting for DH's Bulldogs. This should definitely be a good game though! The good news is that Mike the Tiger got in his trailer to wait for the visiting team to come out of their dressing room. First time in over 2 years! Geaux Tigers!! Who does your team play? I don't follow LSU, so is there a reason Mike the Tiger hasn't been in his trailer? Evidently a few years ago some idiot shot off some fireworks near Mike. It spooked him. So every game-day his Veterinarian handlers connect his trailer to his habitat and let him decide if he want to get into it. Some people think he should be coerced (like throwing a 5-lb steak into the trailer) but the Vets refuse to do it. It is a continuing debate on LSU message boards. When I was at LSU it was always a part of the pregame festivities. They would circle the stadium with the cheerleaders on top of the trailer/cage and they would stop at the visitor's entrance. The cheerleaders would hop down, bang on the cage and Mike would roar multiple times into a microphone. The crowd would go wild. Visiting football teams said it was intimidating as hell. More than one person wished someone would open the cage and let Mike eat a cheerleader.

Good Luck everyone! My Iowa Hawkeyes take on in-state rival the Iowa State Cyclones! Should be a good test for both teams...we often have a tough battle with them...even in years we shouldn't!
On Iowa, Go Hawks!

The Iowa Hawkeye nation has had a devastating week. The other day ex-Hawkeye and NFL New York Giant Tyler Sash was found dead in his home here in Iowa at the age of 27 and the cause of death has not been determined. Tyler was always one of my favorite players while he was at Iowa and I was thrilled that he took home a Super Bowl ring his rookie season with the Giants. He was a great guy and a terrific safety and every Hawkeye fan I know is bummed. Then today, we found out that Roy Marble, the Iowa Hawkeyes all time scoring leader in basketball who took us to the Elite 8 in 1987 died of cancer at 48. I really enjoyed watching him play during his years at Iowa and his son Roy Devyn played for Iowa also and is now in the NBA. I sure hope that the Hawkeyes can pull the in-state rivalry win out tomorrow for Tyler and Roy. The Hawkeye's will be wearing Tyler's #9 on their helmets to honor Tyler and his family. GO HAWKS!

We've been wearing our OU gear everywhere we go in Knoxville and Tennessee fans keep coming up to us to welcome us to Knoxville. We try and go to at least one away game every year, and although most football fans are pretty friendly, we have never been treated quite like this! We are excited to tailgate on the river today and go to the big game tonight!

I am so glad to hear you are enjoying your visit to TN and am not surprised VOL fans are extending our Southern hospitality but I know there is always at least one in every crowd that can be rude and ugly especially if the game does not end in our favor. So I will apologize in advance if that were to happen. I am only about 20 or 25 minutes from the stadium and I really should have tried to make plans to meet you but I just can't make myself get in all that traffic and especially with all the road work being done on the Strip. I hope you won't be too mad at me!! I'll be watching the game on TV. Have fun and have a safe trip home!!

I'll be damned! The Hawkeyes pulled out the win at Iowa State in their brand new shiny renovated stadium 31-17. I was so disappointed in their play the first quarter I had to take a break and work in my craft room for awhile. I came back out during the fourth quarter and watch them put it away. That win was for Tyler and Roy, may they RIP.

My Horned Frogs beat the Stephen F Austin Lumberjacks 70-7. The Jacks played hard, and had some good plays but just were outgunned. A great effort from them.
And now I am rooting for the Lamar Cardinals to upset the Waco Whiners..,evil cackle....

Oh, man, Joy! What a nail biter your game is turning out to be! No kidding! We had 2 TD's called back because of stupid penalties so the game was closer than it should have been. Luckily their FG kicker isn't very good. Whew! Be still my pounding heart! LSU wins 21-19.

Florida won, but it wasn't a pretty win that is for sure.
I would NOT want to be in locker room this week. There were some mistakes, and this new coach of ours doesn't look like he tolerates fools.

Your new coach lost his SHIT last night with the player that got the unsportsmanlike penalty. I thought he was going to have a coronary. FSU had a sloppy game against a pretty decent S Florida squad. Our running back ran for over 200 yards and was completely unstoppable, but we still have some work to do on offense. Everett Golson will hopefully come around and be the QB he needs to be to lead this team. The officiating yesterday was abysmal. Three targeting calls and two ejections...all of which were questionable at best. (1 FSU, 1 USF) College Football Scoreboard on The U is painful to watch. It is truly terrible. These new guys (except for Danny K) are just horrible.
