With the exception of buttons for clothing that I'm still wearing I don't keep any of that stuff. I'm like you but I DO get rid of buttons. I realized one day that I have NEVER used one of those extra buttons. Now I just get rid of them when I throw away the tags.

If I got rid of all my old t-shirts what would I wear? lol Seriously, they are great for power washing the house, painting and all those other dirty jobs.
We have several old cell phones without the battery in the toy box. Kids love them.
I still listen to CDs in my car. Old car - no bluetooth or satellite radio.
Sample size toiletries are great for travel, especially camping.
Damaged and stained clothing - see above about dirty jobs. Why damage or stain something else, duh.
Outdated electronics - maybe for some, but my son has an 8 track tape player that he thinks is awesome and it works.
Stockings with runs are great for washing skeins of yarn without it tangling.
I could go on, but those types of lists are never a one size thing. she probably has things I wouldn't keep because I wouldn't have use for them.

There are several things on that list that are with er outdated or simply don't apply to all people. We got rid of our really mice record player and all the albums a few years ago and my kids are the ones that are wringing their hands at us asking why since there has been a resurgence of vinyl. Regrets? Maybe but it is in the past so it doesn't matter. I still have cds, I still buy cds and I play them in my car because sometimes, you know, it is just easier. I have satellite dado, I have a full iPod but popping in a favorite cd works for me. Old towels are great for when daughter is messing with colored hair products, dog baths, overflowing toilet messes (it has happened) or anything messy that I would cringe if I saw my newer towls being used for. New towels are for showers and old towels are for everything else. My daughters would cry if I donated away their prom dresses. Maybe someday they will but that isn't my call.

in my opinion, that is a really stupid list... somehow it's just irritating, the way it's written, or something. Old prom dresses? huh? eta: @peasapie said it perfectly!! The list made me laugh. Most of it is common sense. Some of it is silly things people enjoy keeping for memory sake. I love a good fortune cookie fortune. But then, I'm a scrapbooker...

I agree with most, however it would take major convincing for my husband to get rid of CD's, DVD's, and old electronics.
I don't think I could get rid of certain manuals. Some of our stuff is so old, I don't think we could find it online.

Is this Popsugar site that is telling us to throw all this stuff away the same site that markets boxes of products that you never knew you wanted until they sell them to you? (Popsugar Must Have Box?)

My kids love when we do this and then I get help with the dusting because they think it is fun. We used socks we can't find the mate to and also toddler socks.
Good List. I may print it and pull it out when the kiddos complain they are bored and make it like a scavenger hunt lol. (some of the items not all)

I don't think they're advocating getting rid of things you actually use.

Is this Popsugar site that is telling us to throw all this stuff away the same site that markets boxes of products that you never knew you wanted until they sell them to you? (Popsugar Must Have Box?) Haha! Exactly! Why would you spend money on a box of unknown stuff to come to your house each month when you could take that money and spend it on exactly what you want/need/like. Then you wouldn't need a list telling you to throw out useless stuff.
