This is exactly what happened to me! I thought i had a 4 but it is really a 4s. I was cleaning it off today in preparation for my new phone to come next week. I am giving it to dd once my new one gets here. So I decided to download the new ios. It downloaded in about an hour!!! Once i tried to finish the last steps on my phone it froze. I can't do anything to get it back. I am so freaking pissed. I don't usually do updates this early either but I was trying to get it ready for dd and i was still on IOS 7! I never even did the 8. We have no Apple Store near so I am not sure what to do at this point. Any tips? Have you tried a "hard" shutdown? Hold down the power button and the home button at the same time. It can take a couple of minutes to shut down so be patient just keep holding them down til it shuts off. Multiple times. The phone says swipe for update. And then it freezes. No swiping, nothing but a giant white screen. I do a hard shutdown and go through the process all over again and then freeze on the same step. Like 12 times now!

I just downloaded it today. The only things I really noticed was the font on my keyboard, and a few apps, most of which I will never use, yet can't delete. Yeah, I find this annoying too. I usually put them in a folder on the last page so I don't see them. That what I do too.

Can anyone tell me how to remove the little circles with initials beside each contact in messages? I took it off before but don't remember how. I don't upload photos for all my contacts.

I have a 4S and am too afraid to do this update. I'm sure it will cause problems and force me into a new phone. Since DH got laid off 3 weeks ago that's just not in the cards right now.

Updates done on: iPhone 5, iPad, iPad mini. No problems. My phone screen isn't as bright as it was but I haven't played with the brightness.
Oh, the battery icon is now yellow, not green.

I updated my iPad 2. The first time I attempted it, it failed. Second time it went through and took about 30 min. It appears to be working fine, but that may be related to the fact that the IOS 8 update totally torked up my iPad and it had to be totally wiped to make it function again. So when I updated to IOS 9 it was pretty much a blank slate.
Our local Verizon store is advising us to delay updating our iPhone 6 phones. They are inundated with customers having issues - from minor to all out crashes.

I updated my iPad mini and iPhone 6+ the day it came out. The only issue I've had is when using Instagram I can no longer return to the top by pressing the top of the screen, I have to manually scroll. Weird and annoying but not deal breaking.

I like the texting better now. It starts by displaying all caps. You type your first letter, then changes to lower case.

I don't have an iPhone but got a notice sent out by our Board of Realtors NOT to update. did they say why? I have an iPhone 5C for work and we've been told to not upgrade either. Mostly its due to very company specific apps and other things that they (IT) need to investigate how the new iOS is going to impact. Can't have thousands of people suddenly not be able to access emails and other vital things because they no longer work with the iOS. They want the opportunity to make changes to these company specific things to work well with the new iOS.

Kelly - I'm now 4 days out with the same issue. I have a senior technical rep working on this for me. We have spoken/touched base every evening. He is still waiting to hear from the engineers with a solution. They wanted me to do a factory restore, but it is so messed up -- stuck in this loop -- the phone won't even accept a restore. I'm beyond frustrated at this point.

I did my iPad Air and my iPhone 6 yesterday and both are fab, with no issues. Also did my DH's iPad...I think his is a 4th generation, and it also works fine although he doesn't get the swipe in from the side. I get that, but not dual screens. I love so much about the update. Being able to attach files other than photos or videos to an email is brilliant. I recently got in to using the MS Works apps with One Drive storage and it all integrates so well. I love all the improvements to Notes which has always been an app I used a lot but is now just brilliant. I love the new keyboard and it's quick keys and case changes. Has everyone discovered what happens when you tap or double tap the keyboard with two fingers yet? - handy new quick text selection. Or hold two fingers down to create a track pad to move the cursor. The swipe in from the side addition has already been handy.

I forgot about it until my iTunes came up on my laptop as needing to be updated. I needed to backup my phone anyway so I went ahead and did it. I like it so far.

Yes, I have an iPhone 5 and it keeps crashing. I am doing a hard shutdown now. I updated my iPad Mini and it only crashed once. I do like the improvements, though!

i HAVE THE 5s and updated a couple of days ago. the only thing I noticed that I can't figure out is sometimes when I text a gray bar appears where I am trying to type. It has 0:00 and looks like the voice recording thing, but it's covering the area where I am entering text, and I can't get it to go away unless I close down the imessage app. I'll try to take a screen cap to show...

I have an ipad 2, so most of the coolest sounding stuff I probably won't get. No Siri, no retina.
And downloading iOS 8 bricked my iPad initially, so I downgraded back to 7, which made me lose all my game levels and other data on apps that had already been updated to iOS 8 compatible.
I eventually upgraded to 8 once most the bugs had been worked out.
I'm in no hurry to upgrade to 9 on my iPad.
My phone is a 5c. I haven't gotten a notification to upgrade yet. But I'll be watching a bit before I upgrade that as well.

I upgraded my iPad 2 and it went fine. There are a few things I find annoying, but a few I like. I don't like the bookmark folder being on the left, seems like that only benefits left handed people, so I am not sure why they did that. I also don't like the smilie board because if I use it everything I type after the smilie desktop show up and it is where the number key board thing used to be, so I am constantly hitting it. I do like the predictive text though. I kind like, but kind of hate that the bookmark folder stays open until you shut it and I kind of love and kind of hate the bar thing on the top disappearing because it takes another step to go back when browsing. I use my iPad for I Internets and games and I don't hAve an iPhone, so I am missing out on a lot f features I know.

I updated last night. I never ever update so soon. Not sure what I was thinking. It killed my phone. I spent 2 hours this evening on the phone with support. Tried to do a factory restore - and the phone won't even do that. They're callimg me in the morning with next steps. This is where we're at as well. My DD's 5s updated with no problem. DS's 5s locked up. We couldn't get it to do anything, not even restore itself. I was on the phone for about an hour yesterday with two different techs (and they really were great). We finally got it wiped and restored to factory settings, but now can't get his backup to go back on. We've got a plan, but if it doesn't work then he's lost everything on it. So frustrating. I'll always be an Apple user, because when they work correctly I love them and have found nothing better. But then there are days like yesterday when I just want to chuck my nearest Apple device across the yard .

Hate and wish there was a way to turn off the voice recorder.

Yeah, I find this annoying too. I usually put them in a folder on the last page so I don't see them. Same. Mine is actually called "Don't use, can't delete" My folder on the last page is called "iCrap".

It took a while, but it worked. I wonder why the techs at the Apple store couldn't get yours out of the loop? Weird stuff going on. I've stepped into the abyss and am updating my phone as we speak. It's part of our plan to try and get my son's backup restored on his phone. So far so good. Wish me luck .
