Health Nuts drive me batshit crazy. Seriously, do they not understand moderation? It seems like these idiot health nuts vilify anything that's remotely fun and not sprouts and almond milk and dinosaur kale and other tasteless garbage. The best part is when these health nuts make something that is an "alternative" to the real sugary thing and it's probably worse for you than the damn sugar. Seriously. If I want cake, I'll eat cake... not the "cake" you've made out of chemicals and other shit that is supposed to be "healthier". The real cake won't kill me but those weird ingredients might.

My vent is I scrambled to get done work early today so I could be home for a very late dinner for my daughter's birthday and because my ticket was for the later bus, the driver wouldn't let me on even though I could see that the bus was only half full. Now I'm stuck waiting in the terminal for an hour and I'll get to see her for 10 minutes before bed. It wouldn't have cost the driver anything to let me on.

ITA Food police bug the crap out of me.
My vent - Dear potluck organizer. I can count. My ds's mid season potluck is tonight. Weeks ago I volunteered to bring the plates, napkins and cutlery. I am on the list as the only one bringing these items, therefore I know I must bring enough for everyone. Why do you insist on checking with me several times even after I have told you I have enough for 100.

Usually I don't get worked up about much, but today?
I'm dealing with an on-going situation that's just stressful... and made even more so by the fact that much of it is out of my hands.
The good news is I'm getting a ton of shit done around the house with all the nervous energy I have.

Dear fellow theatre parent: YOU volunteered to bring the ice cream to the ICE CREAM SOCIAL. I didn't ask you to bring it. It is not ok to tell me 15 minutes before the social (after I called you wondering where it was!) to say you won't be bringing it. After confirming you are bringing it just that morning. Did she expect me to give the kids a bowl of chocolate syrup? Luckily another parent made an ice cream run.

Agents who deliver back signed disclosures 2 days before closing. Really? According to the fricking contract YOU wrote, they were due 3 weeks ago.

my vent is that I had 5 extensions put in almost 3 weeks ago, to fill out the long side of the asymmetrical bob haircut I got. my hair was thinning there from thyroid issues. last night as I am getting ready to go somewhere, one falls out..with the hair it was attached to. I have been babying the hell out of these things! send pic to stylist, who doesn't seem to care much. ask to have the rest removed before they can rip out my already thin hair there and leave me with bald spots, and she tells me her next available appt. is...NOVEMBER 5. are you f*ing kidding me? it takes 10 minutes to remove them, they're ripping out my hair, and it's been 3 weeks since you put them in! is it just me, or is that insulting? i'm so angry right now.

My vent: WHY do our Google Chromebook student passwords have to include a capital letter, regular letters, and numerals for Kindergarten kids. I about had my head explode trying to get them all logged in today! I need them to learn how to log in, but pressing a shift key to get a cap letter, and only pressing it once, and then not holding a letter down too much or all of a sudden they have TEN C's in a row, or then there are those who do not know any letters so good luck trying to find the letter a or f on the keyboard etc and then what is an enter key and ARGHHHHHH! (Yes I know that was a run on sentence but it was non-stop craziness during my tech class lol.) Well, the good news is after we got logged in they had a blast and were so giddy.

For now it's my poison of choice and it's working for me. TYVM. I also am not a huge fan of Tim Horton's anything but their Ice Caps. Their donuts I am ok with. Their muffins aren't terrible either. I just don't go through the drive through that is 4 blocks away more than 1x year. I would love to eat something you made, though. I am sure it's spectacular!

The girls from youth group are coming to my house tonight for cookies. DD who invited them isn't being helpful. I have to have my kitchen cleaned up (it's a mess since I've worked two days in a row) and cookies made. My feet are killing me.
Sigh.

Dear person who wrote the science labs I'm trying to edit. I can't believe you claim to be a writer and science teacher. I found 5 (!!!) major science mistakes in the first three labs. You really should check wikipedia before you to send me this crap. You're just making shit up as you go along.

Apparently, the last online credit card payment did not go through. We now owe a late fee and interest, which I am fighting as I have the payment confirmation and a screen shot of the payment. All of the info is correct and my bank account has processed other online payments at/around that time, so it's not my bank's fault or my fault. Moreover, I tried to send another online payment for this card and the same thing happened again. So don't tell me that it's my fault when I have proof of my good faith efforts to pay this bill TWICE.

How about you just apply some common sense. And if that is too hard, why don't you try the newspaper headline trick- you know- that when the truth is outed in the news if it just sounds horrible then maybe it isn't a good idea. Just maybe you try to see people where they are. You know those articles we get forwarded to us with those exact headlines? You are writing them yourself by being narrow focused and you think you always have to be right. I'm tired of trying to get you to understand this shit because of your own pride. Do you even understand how many people you are hurting?

Birthday/Wedding cakes are special occasions, I don't think the need for that will decrease. I'm one of those no sugar people, won't buy it and I love to bake deserts but use stevia instead. I really don't think it's healthy for your diet and hence won't consume it at home, but the occasional wedding or my birthday sure I'll have a slice of cake.

My vent for today . . . I hate mandated niceness. If I wanted to send a card or a gift to someone, I would. It really ticks me off that I have to pay $30 a year into a 'Sunshine Fund' to buy stuff for people who are my co-workers, not my friends. Hell, I don't even send my parents/family/people I love cards, why do I *have* to contribute to a baby gift for someone I don't have anything to do with outside of work time, and whose life really doesn't interest me?! I will always be courteous and respectful to everyone, but I don't think I should be forced to be nice.

to the department manager who decided to "forget" that I was asked by the managing partner to manage a service that all of us use, and take it upon herself (with the help of an overzealous employee) to circumvent my responsibilities and question the costs, etc for said service, when you barely know how to use it, and your department accounts for only 5% of the total usage. You made me come off looking like the bad guy to the service providers, and made my manager mad. Tomorrow I get to go talk to the firm administrator and fill her in.
And thank you for screwing up my day so bad that I never did get lunch today - unless you count the yogurt at 3 pm while I was updating a report.....

I'm so tired of mean people. Honestly- if all you can come up with is nastiness and negativity- get yourself into therapy or become a hermit.
Also- I've been a SAHM for about 15 years. For most of those years, I was running here, there, and everywhere- usually in a minivan full of other people's children in addition to my own. I liked being a SHAM. It was great for my family, and I had the chance to help a lot of other moms too. I wouldn't change those years for anything. The past few years though, since my youngest is getting older - I'm not as busy. I've had a chance to do other things, besides kid things. I traded in the minivan for a crossover. I am no longer the emergency pick up person on a dozen kids' contact cards. The freedom has been SO MUCH FUN. I've enjoyed the transition. But where the reaction to me not working when I had younger kids was positive ... being unemployed with older kids seems to be almost a crime. My value as a person seems to be depreciating at triple time. I've had it up to my eyeballs with being taken for granted, or treated like a second class citizen. Things are about to change in a big way. Then the fun part will be watching people realize just how many ways it impacts them, not to have me at their beck and call.

I second what Grinning cat said. I will eat REAL sugar those artificial things give me a headache anyway. How can they be good for you. I understand if you have diabetes but I don't. I agree. I actually do have diabetes, and as an avid cook and baker I made myself nutso when I was first diagnosed, trying to come up with weird sugar-free versions of things. They tasted like crap. I talked to my doctor and she said to knock it off. If you want cake, she said, eat cake. Eat real food. Enough with the chemicals. You can still eat pasta, just not PASTA! Moderation is the way to go, and yrs later that is what has gotten my A1c to a close to normal level, with some meds. Now my anti-chemical rant does not include my diet coke addiction, or what I call "my reason for living." That's for another thread. As a hobby baker, what gets me is people online (no one in my real life does it) who gripe about the frosting being "too sweet." I confess I do add a bit of salt occasionally if it's very rich, but this is a product that consists of sugar and very little else...it's going to be sweet! And Swiss meringue buttercream is going to be buttery-tasting. It's like wishing burgers weren't so beefy.
