Is it really Wednesday? I thought it was Tuesday today. I was going to post a thread saying the good thing about Tuesday is that it means tomorrow is Wednesday and the week is half over! Glad I double checked my calendar first. So, Peas, what are you doing this week to make a better, healthier you for tomorrow and next week? I'm still plodding along, eating low carb and losing weight. I indulged in birthday celebrations last week, so little-to-no progress on the fat loss this week. I am so much happier with my body now compared to the beginning of summer. But, I can't believe I still have another 20 lbs to lose. It's funny how subjective and skewed our self-image can be.. My two oldest daughters are wearing my old jeans and I can't believe that I was ever that size. . (Although when my mom noted the same thing, my oldest DD pointed out that they ARE a little loose-fitting on her. Thanks, charming daughter!). Something in really struggling with is exercise. I haven't done a single minute of exercise since I started my job, six weeks ago. I hate exercising, but I miss it. I'm NOT a morning person, so getting up earlier in the morning is not going to happen. I'm exhausted by the time I get home from work, see the kids for 10 minutes, read a few bedtime books, put away my dirty breakfast, lunch, and dinner dishes, make lunch and dinner for myself for the next day, do whatever else needs to be done (ironing, nails, etc) and by the time I'm done all of that I need to go to bed. I keep telling myself that I'll do something on weekends, but even those are busy and instead I cave to doing nothing because I feel like I'll go insane if I do one more thing.

Last week I was awesome. Went and did something very physical every day (weights AND cardio and sometimes both). This week I am 0 for 4. I will try tonight.

Can you sneak in a walk on your lunch break? When I was working crazy long hours, I used to walk a bit - sometimes just a few blocks to lunch, sometimes 20 minutes. It made a huge difference in how I felt.

Just keep plodding along! I did eat off plan Monday! I took my girls to the Taylor Swift concert on Monday and we had to hit the road at 445 so we stopped along the highway at a McDonalds. We don't ever eat at McDonalds. It's been years since I have eaten there! But I had a grilled chicken wrap. Not bad on calories but just horrible. It reminded me why we never eat there!
My PiYo dvds came with a bonus round of TurboFire HIIT which Chalean Johnson also does. I have been doing that 3 days a week. It's 20 minutes, my heart feels like it's going to explode out of my chest and it burns about 185 calories. It's pretty awesome!!
Non scale victories- my ring is getting big! I have lost enough weight that it may need to be resized. And I was admiring my triceps in the mirror the other day and my dh noticed them!! I thought I was imagining them!!!
I think I am at about 17.5 pounds lost. But it's taken 4 months..

Next time get the southwest chicken salad. Soooo freaking good. You don't even need dressing. It comes with a lime wedge that you squeeze on the top. 340 calories. If you need something more add a side salad to the southwest salad.

I am doing really well! Once I commit to something I have willpower of steel. It just takes me a long time to commit.
My eating is on target. Still trying to up my calories while remaining healthy. This week I have somewhat slacked on veggies. I need to plan better next week. I am down to a 4/6, and my wedding ring is too big. I have to wear it on my middle finger. I even noticed that I did not hide in the back of a group picture at work today.
I am doing the Bikini Body Mommy 6 week challenge. Love her program! When I started I could do 1 regular push-up in 50 secs. I am up to 47. That is huge for me. I get up every morning and work out.
I am worried about an upcoming vacation. I want to keep up with my exercise. I think I will repeat a week of BBM a so I can modify the exercises that require weights ahead of time.

Great job everyone! Slow and steady is what is important. I would much rather have a good balance and be able to keep up with what I am doing. Set backs are to be expected. Don't let them stop you.

I am still struggling to get back on track but had a good eating day today. I still haven't gotten into an exercise routine. I need to get up earlier in the morning, but so far that hasn't happened. I have been soooo tired. I can barely stay up until 10 and have a hard time getting up in the morning. I don't have much time throughout the day, though. I need to try to get things back on track at home this weekend. The last four weekends have been way busy with football and baseball all day Saturdays and Sundays. This Saturday we have only one game instead of two so hopefully I can get some cleaning and food prep done. We have two baseball games (an hour away) Sunday.
I am part of a group of friends who are doing a weight loss challenge. They have all been losing a lot of weight since we started two weeks ago, but I haven't lost anything. I want to have a loss to post next week!

I resisted the urge to eat a chili cheese dog today. I don't know why but I've been having a really mean craving for one. I am going to exercise every other day. I have been overtraining to perform in a showcase. Things have been stressing me out and I am fighting cortisol belly. I have to do better.

I'm not really healthy, but we have a step challenge at work. Last week my team got beat by 200 steps, so this week I am upping my game. I went for a 2 mile walk while DS was at football practice. That's pretty much the best I could do.

I have lost a total of 20.3 pounds at my last weigh in.
I have been doing really well with my exercising and drinking my water. Eating has been my downfall this week. We had some ice cream leftover from this weekend and it has been calling my name. I know better than to keep that stuff in the house.
I'll do better tomorrow.

I'm still hanging in there. I've lost one pound this week, but through no extra effort. The good news is that I haven't backslid. I've added a bit of activity this week -- gardening (which is tough since I live on a steep hill), playing outside with the dog, walking through my errands instead of driving around.
Thank you @ashly for the thread: I like having the extra reminder of how we're all in this, and having a setback or being stagnant isn't the end of my attempts.

My hard goal is 3 times but I am working on getting to 5!

Not a great week for me. My normal after work schedule has been thrown off for various reasons and I haven't exercised since Friday. I'm going to run today and do something tomorrow so I can say I did something this week. Although on Tuesday I vigourosly cleaned a house we're selling for 2 non-stop hours because someone was coming to see it and it needed to be cleaned badly. That was def exercise! My eating hasn't been great. I haven't hogged out (love that phrase) on anything but with my busy evenings it's been hard to eat like I should have. Eating on the go isn't super conducive to lower calories. ashley could you find 10-15 mins to do something? Maybe a short walk or some body weight exercises or something to get your heart rate up? I know it's very difficult to find any extra minutes but don't forget to make your health a priority too!

My food has been mostly ok. Couple of "slip-ups" but less awful than usual! Ha! Exercise has been tough for me this week. Got a workout in on Saturday and haven't been back since. I'm getting into the part of the new school year where the grading is starting to pile up. We have interim grades due next Friday and I'm trying to get stuff graded and entered so there are no big surprises. That's cut into my exercise time and desire to actually go. I need to make a better effort with that though. My plan is to get to the gym tonight, Friday, and Saturday and get at least 3 days in this week. One thing I do that might help you Ashley, is that I pre-prep as much of my workday meals as possible on Sunday mornings. I make all my lunches (ex: baked chicken, 1/3 cup rice, spinach, broccoli with a salad--yes, I like as much volume as possible when eating...it helps keep me satified) along with my snacks (1/2 English muffin w/ 1 wedge Laughing Cow cheese; slice of tomato for the A.M. and carrots/celery/cucumber and a boiled egg for the P.M.), and breakfasts (Greek yogurt, frozen berries, some Kashi cereal and almonds) and then I don't have as much to do in the evenings. In the morning, I make the kids' lunches, grab my premade food and toss it in my lunch bag and I'm good to go. I find if I do that, I'm better at doing the things I need to do and I tend to be able to find time to exercise 'cause that's not on my "to-do list" anymore. Even just a few minutes (15-20 minutes) can be beneficial. I'm one to talk though after the week I've been having. I've got to get a better handle on my exercise as well.

One of my tumblr friends included me in a FitBit challenge last week which really upped my walking game. I had a tough leg workout on Sunday that left me really sore - I'm just getting to the point now where stairs are manageable again.

I will jump in unless I am supposed to start somewhere else. I have started over this week. Trying to get back to healthy. Have many pounds to lose but took the first steps this week. I have gone to the Y twice. Hope to go again tomorrow but they have shorter hours. I have done well with food this week but only beginning.
My young adult daughter and I are working together. Can somebody give me some thoughts on dinners that are healthy but not just a salad with chicken in it. We are a busy family and I get in a rut. Thanks for any and all suggestions. Unless not ok to ask here and if that is the case please let me know and I will start a new thread.
Thanks

Well like I stated in the what accomplishments have you made thread, I joined Planet Fitness and have an appointment with their trainer today to get me on a fitness plan! I have been watching calories and have lost some weight, but I really need to up my exercise. I only need to lose about 10 lbs, but I really need to tone up and lose my belly.

I'm here and this week I've been doing much better than I have the last couple. My eating has been good and I worked Monday so no exercise but I walked (and partially jogged) 3.5 miles on Tuesday and then did 2 miles yesterday. Today I'm hoping to get out later but not sure if it'll happen.
I'm definitely discouraged though. I've gained like 2-3 lbs since earlier this week. I know it's PMS related but I HATE when I have a good week (AND it's a PMS week for Pete's sake where I typically am wanting to eat everything under the sun) and then the scale doesn't reflect it. One good thing is that I haven't let that be an excuse to eat crap. I've still been sticking to my healthy eating and I'm hangin' in.
I made my menu for the next couple of weeks and have primarily healthy meals on there.

Unless not ok to ask here and if that is the case please let me know and I will start a new thread. Thanks Welcome!!! Ashley started this thread a few weeks ago -- it's meant for anyone to jump in at any time. I like an easy stir fry for dinner. If you're not up for a lot of chopping, you can buy lots of variations of pre-chopped vegetables or hit the salad bar for stir fry stuff. You can even buy meat already sliced thin and ready to stir fry. For busy days, I like chicken with either broccoli or green beans. Serve it over rice, brown rice, or noodles. Oh, and I like to use Lawry's Sesame Ginger marinade as a sauce. We also like omelettes and a side salad. I also like to grill up a bunch of vegetables - carrots, zucchini, onions, eggplant - whatever I have in the fridge. They keep and heat up well. I use them on veggie/cheese sandwiches (or any kind of sandwich) or as a side during the week.

Well, my half marathon training came to a screeching halt when I got a stress fracture in my foot last week. So now I'm in a boot and can't do any impact exercises for 6-8 weeks. Even when that time is up I won't be able to continue training because of the platar fascitis and other feet issues I'm dealing with. So....
I am focusing on food intake right now and trying to keep it as close to 1200 as I can since I'm not able to exercise at all right now (other than upper body which doesn't burn much) and then when I can do some low impact exercises I'll get on the bike & the elliptical.
Kinda frustrated right now because my goal has always been to do a half but I'll just need to refocus and get passionate about something else.
Meal prep has been a standard the past month or so and it sure does help during the week! I'm glad I started doing it regularly!

Down 67lbs for the year. I'm going to convert back to kgs, because in New Zealand, that's how we roll. Each round of bootcamp is 12 weeks. So, I lost 6.8kgs the first round of my bootcamp, 6.2kgs the second round and *GULP* so far this round I have lost 18.2KGS!!! If I win, it's a $3700.00 payout, so I am highly motivated to win. Only 23 days to go in this round. I CAN DO THIS! There is a 12km fun run coming up on Sunday and two friends are paying for me to enter. I have a rule that I don't pay to run. I do it for free. So far, I have been sponsored into a 10km, this run and I have a 1/2 marathon in November. People want me to come (who knows why?) and are happy to pay for me to do so. I'm off work next week and have a goal to run 100km over the time just because I can (I hope I can, that is). Because it's such a short time to the end of this round, I've cut red meat and switched to chicken. It's only for three weeks so that's OK. I've also cut kumara (traditional NZ sweet potatoe). I'm still having a giant stirfry for dinner, just with chicken and no kumara. I am drinking a lot of water. Oh and DD is starting to walk with me. It's great when your family comes on board.

I tend to use my crock pot as often as I can or just plan something super simple. Thankfully I get home by 4 p.m. so I'm not usually in a mad dash to get dinner going.

You are TOTALLY rocking this!! How inspiring!!! I really, really want to be a runner. I have arthritis (although it's mostly under control currently) and weak joints (especially in the hips, knees and ankles) from carrying so much extra weight for so long. When I went for my walk on Tuesday, I started doing short bursts of jogging. I worry about about my knees especially because I have meniscus issues and every other time I've tried to start some sort of running regimen, I've ended up not even being able to do walking because the impact of running/jogging made me knees swell up and I have pinching pain. I felt pretty good on Tuesday and didn't have any knee pain so I'm looking forward to trying it again. The other thing is that I walk at the local track (dirt track with soccer fields and baseball diamonds in the center) and I just can't run if there are other people there. I know I should get over myself and just do what I want, but I just can't seem to get beyond it. I do have a treadmill I could use but I find running on the treadmill is worse than running on the dirt track as far as my joints go. And I TOTALLY agree about how great it is having the family join in. My girls play soccer so a lot of times when I go out for a walk, they'll come along and run sprints as I walk. And on the rare occasion that dh gets home while it's still light outside, he and my ds will join us as well! Those walks with all of us are my favorite.

brandy327, I am extrememly fortunate that I've had no injuries or anything. I have a friend with arthritis. She says it's very painful. I love running, but I'd be reluctant to tell you to go for it unless your health professional says it's OK. Enjoy your walking. It's just going into spring now so looking forward to the longer days so we can get out together.
