Just tragic. Earlier today, a "Duck" tourist vehicle and a tour bus full of international students collided with devastating results. As of now, there are 4 fatalities and 52 injuries, including 12 critical. All of those deceased were international students. Any accident like this is horrifying, but I can't imagine those poor parents halfway around the world who sent their children off for a life-expanding educational experience who are now faced with this Link to story

that is just awful. Such a sad situation.
Those tours are awful, we had to be rescued by the coast guard and fire department on one in Nashville, they have so many problems, i'm not sure how they're allowed to be on the streets.

We were in Seattle this summer ... the lanes are way narrower than ours ... those Duck Tour vehicles were always riding the line ... I'm not surprised there was a collision ... so sad

So very tragic.
I heard one witness say a wheel flew off the Duck boat before is skidded sideways and t boned the bus. At least that account makes it sound like a mechanical issue.

Yes. It is really horrible. This is my neighborhood. There is a call for blood donations and it is still unclear exactly what happened. My thoughts are with all of the people involved and their families.
I just came from picking up my kids from school because they are across the bridge and the projections were that buses would be hours late (tons of parents doing the same thing). It is a mess over here, not that that is comparatively at all important.

Very tragic.
I have seen those Duck tour vehicles every time I go to Seattle. Seems there isn't much protection on them is there?

I saw one of the photos from overhead and the tour bus is right up against the railing - just the width of the sidewalk from the edge of the bridge. All I could think about was that accident years ago when a bus when right off the same bridge. As terrible as this is, it could have been even worse.

Okay I just saw pictures of the bus, absolutely horrible.
I am surprised there were no fatalities from people on the duck boat as well.

I work at the trauma center in Seattle. We had to call a disaster/triage code and get really creative with discharges to open up space for the critical incoming patients (we took all the critical ones). The spooky thing to me is that this is almost EXACTLY where the Metro bus flew off the bridge Thanksgiving Day 1998. Like, the exact same spot, except still on the bridge. It sounds like there was some sort of issue with the Duck, where the whole front left wheel assembly came off and the southbound vehicle basically did a 180 and hit the tour bus that was heading northbound. Not a driver error, etc, etc. At least from the reports of those who witnessed the wreck.

It is heartbreaking Those poor students, their families, and all the other involved. I just had the news on and it sounds like something gave out on the Duck vehicle. I live about a mile or so from the bridge and drive it multiple times a week. It's high up with three lanes in each direction. The lanes feel very narrow, and there is no median. Everyone who visits me almost visibly pulls their shoulders in as we drive it. Hoping all the injured are going to be ok...
