Our 11 year old is going as Nascar Driver Jeff Gordon which means I have a helmet and car to make. our 6 year old is going as Steve from Minecraft in a red car. Why a red car you ask? Only he knows apparently...but it's been requested...LOL. One real version and one creative For Jeff Gordon maybe a background of a Nacsar scene behind him ( what it would look like behind the car ) or a racetrack accessory. And a black and white checkered candy bucket. For Steve, the rule of Minecraft is blocks so if Steve has a candy bucket it has to be made out of blocks Maybe a traditional candy bucket but made out of blocks. And I'll ask dd if the car being red is a "Minecraft" thing when she gets home cause now you've me curious. I don't think the car has anything to do with Minecraft...he's just Colin and has his own vision! I love your ideas, I think I will use a few! Any idea on how to make the helmet?? I am thinking of paper mache' and painting it "Jeff Gordon" colors. The cars, I've made 4 of them now...I'm an old pro at those...LOL.

My son has gone as Iron Man & Captain America in past years. He is thinking about Thor. I think he should go as the Avengers (all of them) My daughter & her friends will be out of town & aren't allowed to wear costumes. There are 4 of them & they are wearing Harry Potter shirts from each house (Gryffindor, Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff & Slytherin).

Dd (4.5) requested Cinderella. So she is going as Cinderella,dh as Prince charming, ds (2.5) Gus Gus, and I'm either going to be the fairy godmother our Cinderella in her maid/rags outfit.
I'm pregnant with #3 and really wanted dh to be a chef, me too be an oven with a bun in it, Abe the kids to be cupcakes or gingerbread cookies. But dd is all about princesses right now, so we're going with it.
Last year dd was Elsa, ds was Olaf, dh was Sven, and I wore a stylized Elsa sweatshirt.

I'm dressing up as Mother Nature. I bought this dress to wear: And made this mask to wear with it: I'll take some of the leftover leaves and the other flowers from when I made the mask and probably make some kind of embellishments for the sleeves of the dress and maybe something for my hair too.

I made dd an astronaut costume for school once and used her bike helmet for the frame, I don't remember what I used as a cover though.

ODS never wanted an actual helmet before, he always had a hat to go with the driver he wanted to be. This year he came up with the helmet idea. My mom used to make us costumes when we were growing up and paper mache was her go to for the heads of the characters. She even paper mached wings for a butterfly one year. I was only 5, but I still remember how much I loved that costume that year.

Ooooh, I forgot that I have been thinking about being Camera Howe from Halt and Catch Fire, because my hair is sort of like hers, and I kind of love her character. But I don't think anyone would recognize that I was actually dressed up in costume. I'm not thin enough to pull of those grungy, thin t-shirts she wears most of the time, too.

My DH and I are going to our first-ever costume party the night before Halloween! We aren't big dressing up people. The past two years I painted my face as a Mexican Sugar Skull. I think we are going to go as a couple from the 20s: him a gangster and I'll be a flapper.
DD, 12, is making a costume with BFF. They are going as Thing 1 and Thing 2.
DS, 11, I have NO clue!
DD, 7, is a pirate. Her outfit is so sassy and cute!

DD will be Rainbow Dash with a store bought costume from Costco, even though I *wish* she would agree to be one of those lucky Troll dolls with the tall colored hair. It would be hilarious and she has the perfect hair for it, but she just gives me the side eye and says, "NO, Mama. I'm NOT being that." So I'll have to console myself with spraying her long ponytail rainbow colors instead to look like RD's mane or tail. DH can be convinced to dress up pretty easily, but since I'm the one who always gets stuck at home handing out the treats I usually don't bother. It's hard enough having to fight my way to the door through the gauntlet of barking dogs every time the doorbell rings to pass out the candy with no costume as it is. Two years ago we had a Halloween party for DD and the neighbor kids and we all dressed up as pirates, but that was because we dropped some $$$ on the costumes to wear on pirate night when we were on our Disney Caribbean cruise earlier that year and we wanted to make the most of them! If I'm going to dress up, I don't like to be the same thing over and over.

Baby as scooby, me as Daphne, dh as shaggy and ds 1 as fred. Ds 1 refused to wear costumes until about a week ago so i also bought him a cute giraffe costume when target had 40% off. It's where your legs are the back legs and there are fake legs for the front legs. He has a jr zoo keeper outfit that we got him at the zoo so i think he can wear the shirt. Today we practiced trick or treating by having him dress up and say trick or treat for candy Since there will be a Halloween open house at preschool i though he could wear that there and his little brother has his old zoo keeper outfit. I figure that giraffe costume will get trashed if he wears it and it drags all over the street. We were topping to do a sesame Street theme since i made him a costume last year but i think he's averse to the cape, is the count. He says he wants his little brother to wear it. Since it was easy when i found a scooby doo costume at Costco, I'm going with the path of least resistance.

My son has his heart set on being a McDonald's employee. . . Ebay here I come!! DD is toying with Where's Waldo but a super cute (not too sexy!) young teen version.
I'm going to be Dorothy-ish with my red sequin Converse sneakers and a blue gingham check apron over a white shirt and shorts as I hand out candy and/or take youngest ToT-ing.

I am going as a skunk again this year, but am working on a crocodile costume for dh, and a porcupine costume for dd (pinterest inspired). 2 clothes pins for the crocodile and 1 for the porcupine so they don't have to smell the skunk What fun costumes!

Aww I love this Go as the fairy godmother then you can turn everyone's pumpkin into a coach But if you do end up being her and you are making Cinderella her costume, you can take progress pictures as you make her dress on her with you waving your wand in each photo and the caption on each one says: bibidy bobity and the finished photo says boo And you can put some clear fish line streams at the tip of the wand and make some sparkles to put on the streams. The prince can hold her glass slipper If you are taking a stroller you can make it into the coach And I love your oven idea, too cute! Maybe someone who read it will use it cause I would love to see photos of that

You, Shaggy and Fred can go up to everyone and say "let's see who this person really is" j/p of course Again the stroller idea, if you are taking one it can be the mystery van.

I'm imagining the McDonald's employee asking everyone that hands him the candy: "Can I get fries with that?" Maybe his candy bucket can be a happy meal box. A pillowcase printed with a picture from a Waldo book. ( I actually saw a Where's Waldo backpack at Spencer's, I'm glad something so classic is coming back ) If you hand out the candy put some witches legs sticking out from your house by the front door

Maybe you can help me. At work everyone calls me Mom since I am old enough to be their mother. They are all in their 20's. I thought about getting a #1 Mom shirt, putting my hair in curlers, fanny pack. Maybe get a pair of Velcro closure sneakers at Walmart. Any ideas? Thanks!

My daughter wants to be a flapper, she is currently obsessed with the musical Thoroughly Modern Millie
I am looking for a costume that is not a sexy flapper. I think if I buy her an adult small it should be long enough she is only 5'2.
Ugh why does Halloween have to be about being sexy???

My DD 14 is going to a school choir retreat the 30-31 so she wanted something easy and comfortable. We came up with the snap chat feature "puking a rainbow". I think I am going to make the rainbow from red felt and then glue/sew thin different colored ribbons to make the rainbow. Then attach that with elastic to a headband. Then she's going to use blush to make her cheeks pink and then buy some cheap glasses and either paint the funny eyes or print them out and glue them on but then I don't know how she'll see. Gotta work on that! I think it will be cute.

I hadn't thought of adding the fringe... the vintage dress is cute... but a little rich for halloween. Check out the clearance and find a cheap knee length dress and add some fringe. Top off with some pearl trim by the yard tied in a knot to be one of those long necklaces. It's sure to be cheaper than the option i linked

11 year old dd is going to be the 10th Doctor. She is currently making a cardboard TARDIS to collect candy in. Cute idea for the cardboard TARDIS. My son wants to be the Matt Smith Doctor (I'm not sure which number he is), and a TARDIS box would be fun . Dd wants to be Foxy the Pirate from Five Nights at Freddy's. She can never pick something easily purchased at Walmart .

my boys are pretty basic this year- 10 yr old is batman, 7r old is a ninja. store costumes. DH and I go to a friend's Halloween party every year, this year i'm snow white and he's "sexy", the 8th dwarf she left the other 7 for. I've got a costume I need to alter a bit, and sew him a hat with the name on it. we were thinking of some way to turn the poison apple into a ball gag? we run with a risqué crowd, there's really no limit.

I had a friend who stuck a bunch of cabbage patch dolls on her when she was some kind of mom for Halloween. Maybe you can carry a diaper bag, or wear slippers, a macaroni necklace, or an apron.... A mom can be so much variety, thats a hard one. Maybe the movie Mr. Mom could be of some inspiration cause I think it over exaggerates the traditional mom look and that is probably what you're going for.

When I was a phantom my face was covered in black but the material was sheet so I could easily see through it.
