So I just found out that I'm most likely heading home (to West Covina) in October. And, since Archiver's closed, there really aren't any scrapping stores near me here (in NC) - unless you count JoAnn's and Michael's, which I don't. Lol. I know that Prima is in Chino, but can you actually even shop there? My mom said she thought there were LSS's in Covina and Glendora, but it's been over six years since we were back home, so who knows if they're even still open. Anyway, can anyone recommend any good scrapping stores worth going to? I hope to do some big time shopping, since it's been way too long since I've been scrappy shopping "for realsies!" :-). FWIW, I also have family in Orange County, so I wouldn't be opposed to driving out there to shop. Are there any by Disney or Knott's? TIA for your input. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Collective Journey in Redlands (40-50 min from Disneyland). 10 freeway and take California exit. On Orange Tree Lane.
Wootens Scrapbook Company in Ontario by Ontario Mills. Probably 30-40 or so from Disneyland.
Those are the two I frequent. The one in Riverside closed down

Yes, there are still some good ones around. Hearts & Crafts in Covina and Scrap & Yap in Monrovia both have nice selections and crop rooms. Wootens has a huge inventory with locations in Rancho Cucamonga and Tustin. The Prima Warehouse in Chino is open to the public on Saturdays. There are a few Tuesday Mornings in the area that have great scrapbooking items. The Michaels in Walnut has a larger and more up to date supply than others, and Hobby Lobby has just moved in to So Cal in a big way. You won't have any trouble finding things here. Welcome back!

Thanks so much for all the suggestions, I'm so excited to do some scrappy shopping now. Oaksong, is the one in Monrovia, is it in the same area where they have the street fair?

Yes, Scrap and Yap is on Myrtle, just as you approach the old town area. It is such a nice little store - very uncluttered with new items beautifully displayed, no old stuff. They have a card-making class that I'd like to take in the fall. The samples from past classes were very pretty, using interesting techniques.
A group of LSS stores all put together a Stop and Shop tour every summer for a couple of weeks, where you buy a passport and go to all of the locations for make-and-takes, plus 20% off. I've never done it, but maybe I'll save up all of my shopping needs and do it next year. I was in Hearts and Crafts yesterday, and it was hopping.

I have been to Wooten's in Tustin and it is AWESOME! The largest selection of all the LSS I have been too. So the Ontario one must be large too. Have fun and welcome back to Cali!

The one in Ontario is decent size. I do wish it was bigger because its jam packed with items. Too stuffy. And seriously way over priced. But they carry htf items

If you want to venture out a bit, there is Scrapbook Daisies in Long Beach, right off the 605 and Carson street exit. The store isn't huge but they quickly phase out old stock and tend to keep latest collections in stock. If I get wind of a nice new collection, I can always find it here. This is my primary LSS. I also go to Scraparazzi in uptown whittier. This store is more cluttered and has a lot of stuff squeezed into it. If I need vacay destination stuff, I come here.

It's a shame to hear that the one near Ontario Mills is overpriced, since I know I'll be heading in that area. But the Michael's in Walnut is super close to where I'm staying, so is the scrappy store in Covina. And I know I'll get a chance to get to the Monrovia one, too. Now I just need to save enough money to spend at all these stores. Lol
Btw, has anyone been to the Prima outlet? Is it worth it to go there if I don't want any flowers?

The one in Ontario is decent size. I do wish it was bigger because its jam packed with items. Too stuffy. And seriously way over priced. But they carry htf items Honestly this is why I didn't mention either store, but especially Wooten's. I know they're an "institution" and they have to afford their space (right next to the mall circle and two large theatres), but it's disheartening to have that ticker in your head calculating the item price, plus or minus shipping, and if it works out to you having hauled your butt personally in the store being worth the price or not. KWIM? I have not been to CJ in two years, but it is a bright, open store. My issue with them has always been that they're SO theme motivated I had a very hard time finding things since I don't think in "travel, baby, winter, spring" I think in manu or line. They are definitely my "local" though at 50 miles away or 45min to an hour (depending on mountain traffic). ETA: I have *not* been to the Prima outlet but a friend of mine has and they are open certain times during the day on Friday IIRC. ETAA: Avoid Pages of Thyme. I don't remember quite where they landed, but they used to be our local here in Big Bear. Small, very unfriendly, smelling of sassafrass to the point where "normal" people used to sneeze coming into the store, they took all their unsold product and clogged up the new store with it. From what I hear, they haven't had anything new in at least six years.

I've been to the Prima Warehouse a couple of times. It is truly enormous, and fun to zigzag through the aisles of boxes to look at it all. They have lots of flowers, of course, but also some paper, stamps and other embellishments. Most items are 8 for $20, and everything was 1/2 price in May. I like using flowers on my pages, but not in that over-the-top Prima way. I picked up some pretty little flower kits in various colors and some unusual styles that are nice to have on hand. It's definitely worth a trip at least once. The hours can be sporadic, so it's a good idea to call or check their facebook page before you go.

Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Dh and I lived in West Covina for several years. I spent allot of time and money at Hearts N' Crafts on Citrus Ave in Covina. I loved that store so much. I really miss it. Do me a favor, eat an In N Out burger for me.

Oh, I miss in-N-Out sooooo much. I'm sure I'll be having more than just one. Lol. I really miss Yoshinoya, too. My mom and I are definitely planning on eating there. Scrappinmama, did you ever eat at the Japanese restaurant, Bishamon, near the Covina Playhouse? It is the yummiest! Great, now I'm hungry and can't get to all these delicious places until October.

Oh I'm out the door but another iE girl waving hello!!!! I promise to come back and post lately but I just recently did go to the Prima wharehouse sale AND going back tomorrow for their $1 on everything sale except wood items, kits & bulky items. I shopped for a few swap gals a few weeks go and we came home with many flowers, masks, stencils, color blooms, kits, stamos, ribbon, all kinds of beautiful bling you just don't see in the stores albeit online or LSS. It took 2 hours to go through but then I was shopping for several. I do miss my store at times but everything has worked out for the best! wooten's is a good mix of old with new product but there's is a markurp there (think 1.25/sheet paper) but it's also located in a very high rent premium area. Darn I need to head out but welcome back!

Anyone know how to "bookmark" this topic? This NoCal gal is green with envy with the number of LSS in SoCal. We have only 3 or 4 left in the SF Bay Area.

Jenettycakes, thanks for your input about the Prima warehouse, you've convinced me that I absolutely MUST stop by there. So often I forget that they sell things other than flowers. And I soooo need a lot of the other things you listed. . . like I need a hole in the head. Lol. But I'm going to add it to my list of must see places.
Totravel, if you click over on the right side, at the top of the thread, there is a drop-down menu that says "action." If you click on it, one of the options is "subscribe," and that's the one you'll want to choose. If you're on the app, click on the three dots in the top right corner, and also select "subscribe."

Omg, you got so much stuff! I'm definitely going to have to go there! Unfortunately, I have to wait until the being of October. How often do they do the $1 sales? I just found or I'll be there during the expo in Ontario. Is it worth going? Has anyone taken any of their classes? Since all of my family is there, I have a sitter for my son, and I'm really leaning towards going. :-)

THIS Saturday you're saying? I might see if I can get Husband to take me. That looks awesome and I'm not one to turn down a bargain like that.
I go to the Ontario Expo every year, so I'll be there to wave at (if not hang out with... /shy)! It's not as big as Anaheim which is held in the CHA venue, but it's better than having just one store. And mostly the local stores come too so that helps. Just don't plan on eating there, it's expensive. The venue is nice, air conditioned even, the classes are well attended, but I'm not really a class person. Everyone seems prepared, like I said, it's just not really my thing. If you'll be here during that time I'd say definitely stop by, plan an hour or two just to wander even, that's usually why I go. Husband drops me off and I wander with my Service Dog until I call him to pick us up.
