What does it feel like? Surface of the sun. Seriously.

My hair sweated. You could wring the sweat out.
I now have a sensitivity to temperature.

For me, it feels like suddenly being in a tanning bed. Every square inch of my skin feels like I'm under hot lights. It lasts about 3-4 minutes, several times per day. It's been happening for about 3 weeks. I'm currently a week late for my period.

If your ankles are sweating, it's a hot flash. . Never thought I would have hot ankles.

Yep, for me it's like it is with you, I can actually start feeling myself heat up from what feels like the inside out. I actually feel kind of feverish. It happens most often at night for me, but it's happened on occasion during the day. It can be almost suffocating how overheated I get in the middle of the night sometimes. When it happens, I have to strip off almost all of the covers, even if all I have is a sheet, so that I can feel the cool air from the fan over our bed. And when it's over, I'm suddenly chilly and have to throw the covers back on, lol.
Odd thing is, though, I don't really sweat from it unless I'm in bed - probably because I'm covered in a blanket. When it happens during the day, I usually just get flushed on my chest/neck and in my face, as if I had a fever.
I'm currently 43 and I've been having these flashes for more than a year now. So 41 is definitely not out of the range of possibility.

I would feel the overheating start and then I would spontaneously combust in two places - the nape of my neck where my hair would get "just out of the shower" wet and under my eyebrows where sweat would just stream in my eyes. Yeah, those were fun times.
Edited to add I started experiencing these when I was 42.
Oh, and in the middle of the night in the winter, you could often find me sitting on the front porch in shorts and t-shirt and boots (because it was winter and snow was on the ground). The first time I did this, I was sitting with my head in my hands, looking down and the cops in my little town happened to be driving by. "Are you ok, m'am?" "Yup, just having a hot flash". After that, they no longer pulled into the driveway to check on me but we'd wave to each other as they passed by my house at 2:30 am.
