I really don't get it, it's one hour. Have none of you ever traveled to a different time zone for a vacation? Haven't there been days when for whatever reason you're up early? If the time change was a 2 or 3 hour difference I'd get it but it's 1 hour. my body is set to wake up around my alarm time which is 6:10. Today I woke up around 5:30 and yes I did will myself back to sleep. When we travel, I find myself often getting up or being tired around my normal time. So when we were in the east coast, dh and I weren't tired u til midnight or later as that is 10 pm here. We got up earlier to do things, but didn't really go to sleep at a decent time

For those of you who said you were up "too early" and were tired, waiting for caffeine to hit, etc... here's my question. If you went to bed at your regular time last night -- let's say 10:00 -- and you usually get up at 7:00 on weekends... Well, you went to bed at 10:00 last night and got up this morning at 6:00 new time. But really you had the same amount of sleep, it's just the clock has been changed. So what's different? Now going to bed tonight might be different -- we might feel tired before the clock says we should be. But the morning shouldn't be different, should it? However, I admit to never having troubles with changing the clocks in either direction, so I'm probably not the one to discuss this. That's how I feel. I think I am in the minority though! Although we much prefer spring forward, the adjusting the clocks doesn't mess us up. And it just takes a few minutes for us to change the clocks. I would love daylight savings all year though! But I prefer "daylight" longer in the evening than earlier in the morning personally. I am way more productive that way! I am very lazy in the fall/winter and the energizer bunny in the spring/summer!

It's like having jet lag, but you don't get to go anywhere!
In general I probably do better with the light in the mornings, since I tend to be more of a morning person, but I do hate switching back and forth.
(BTW Daylight Savings Time is over. We're back on Standard Time now.)

I'm with maryland. I'd prefer to be always on Daylight Savings Time. I prefer the extra light in the evening rather than the morning. I am not a morning person, so I always hate getting up; doesn't matter if it's dark or light out. But I really hate coming home from work in the dark and I'm less inclined to do anything after work because all I want to do is come home and settle in for the night.

I love Daylight Saving Time and wish we could stay on that. Having it dark early in the morning isn't great, but most of the time I was either in school, at work, or asleep. I much prefer my daylight in the evenings when I can enjoy it. It does mess kids up in school for several days. We always started our standardized testing the morning after springing forward. AIn't nobody got time for that.
I also learned just this week that it is called Daylight Saving Time. No "s" on the end of Saving.

Dd traveled east to another time zone. She spring forward instead of falling back. Just for a week, though.

I woke up at 6:30 feeling rested and as though I'd slept in. I love this day. You are truly your father's daughter

I know it's only an hour, but it does take me about 48 hours to adjust. The first day of the time change feels "off" some how. I notice it in the kids too. Tomorrow will be an an "off" day for students as well.

Lol.....My only DLST issue is on the one day I lose an hour of sleep in the spring, but that was so funny!

I also find that I eat junk more in the fall/winter when it is so dark out earlier in the evening In the summer, I easily stay busy doing outdoor things, but in the fall/winter, I just sit around, unmotivated, and eat junk just so I can stay awake until 9:00!
The darkness in the morning doesn't bother me as much (although I love summer when it's light out before 6:00am and stays light until after 9:00pm!). I am busy taking a shower, fixing my hair, etc.

I loved waking up to the sun this morning. I find the fall transition way easier than losing an hour in the spring.

If the time change was a 2 or 3 hour difference I'd get it but it's 1 hour. Yes, and that jacks up my system a lot too. It takes me at least three days to adjust to the new time and another three days at least to adjust back once I get home. I hate it. If we're ever going AWAY away, we try to shoot for a minimum of ten days for vacation and that can't always be done. Yeah, I'm one whose internal clock seems tightly wound (as is the rest of me, lol). It is really hard for me to adjust if I have to get up early in the mornings - which I usually do. On vacation, where I don't need to sleep on as rigid a schedule, I can often adjust quicker. But in regular life, that hour difference messes me up. I'm not a morning person, but am required to be by life.

I love bright mornings, but hate to drive to work in the dark. I hate that if I work late at all I am driving home in the dark. I wish I could pick up my life and move to a year round warm area but that is another vent.
It is 9:15 and I am exhausted. However, my husband is still working and I feel like I should wait up for him to get home. So trying to stay awake.

My bladder was not informed of the extra hour of sleep. So instead of waking up at 6:30 to go to the bathroom, well, it was an hour earlier.
And then the dog has to be let out because someone got out of bed. Of course, the entire yard must be explored. Fun morning.
Good thing it was Sunday, and I got my weekly Sunday afternoon nap.

I just don't know why we bother for four months of the year. It's hard on our bodies. There are more heart attacks during the week following the time change than any other. I'd much rather have an extra hour of daylight at the end of the day rather than at the beginning.
I also feel like it adversely affects people who suffer from depression. I know morning sunshine is the best light for people who suffer from depression but leaving work in the dark is depressing, too.

Maybe the fancy new cars do it for you? Our 2015 Jeep doesn't, as far as we know. I just set my 2015 Grand Caravan to do it for me in the future. Selected DST and everything. It wasn't set that way to begin with.

And..... I fell asleep in the recliner at 7:15. Put the 4 year old to bed at 7:45 and am going to bed myself just after 8. I have to get up at 5:45 and going to bed this early I will for sure be awake before then! I'm a wuss.

Why are we still doing this?? I will vote for whichever candidate pledges to get rid of the fucking time changes! I think a problem with it is that many people like DST to get more daylight at the end of the day. If we got rid of it, it would be dark an hour early every single night rather than the 4-5 months we usually have. Now if someone were to suggest keeping SDT all year, I'd be on board.

Don't get me started on this HORRIBLE time-hate it!!! DD told me that DGD- 3 1/2 yrs- was up at 4:30. At least Louis (the dog) slept so I shouldn't complain. I DO NOT DO DARK and it's also raining here. When will it be Spring???

I would, however, vote to stay on the DST schedule year round to have it be lighter as late in the day as possible.

I don't have as much of a problem with "falling back". At least the sun is up and the dogs get some backyard time before I have to leave for work. I have a really tough time with "springing ahead". Granted I love that it stays light out later but it'll take me a good two weeks not to feel exhausted.
