I can see the normal smileys, but all the new ones say something about being popular and bandwidth. Is it just me?

I'm seeing random things about bandwidth issues but Ididn't know it was smilies. I thought it was things in people's signature lines.

Since yesterday I have been getting the multiple blank photobucket icons- yup, still do.
ETA: applies to access from the iPad and the desktop / Windows based.

Glad I saw this post and I'm relieved it wasn't just my messages. Couldn't figure it out so I went back and edited (deleted the smiley/error icon) each one.

For me, it's the photobucket error mentioned above. No problem with smileys.

Yes. I started my police thread with the crying smiley and now have the huge photobucket error starting my OP. I didn't want to edit it, though, since it is an OP.

It is a photobucket issue. Accounts, especially free ones, are only offered so much bandwidth per month. Every time a smiley that is hosted on that particular account is used, it uses a chunk of bandwidth. Once that amount is reached photobucket stops displaying the photo until the bandwidth amount is reset.

Ah heck, I didn't think we'd hit the bandwidth limit just by using smilies. It looks like I need to upgrade the Photobucket account, then all should go back to normal. Sorry folks!
