Assuming you're not cooking underneath ladders or opening umbrellas in the kitchen, what are you cooking this Friday the 13th? I'm making grilled chicken paninis. It's the first time using my new griddler. Weeeee. On another note, can we all please remember to keep our friend, akathy in our thoughts and prayers for comfort and healing. Hope to see you back here super soon, akathy.

Thinking of AKathy!!
We are having Salmon Reuben's. With coleslaw.
A new recipe to try. One of my favorite local place does a fabulous smoked trout ruben so I hope this is close.

My thoughts are with akathy I'm hosting Book Club tonight so I'll be eating appetizers and drinking wine My contribution will be bruschetta and baguettes, shrimp ring and wine ... Notice a theme here? I think dh is going out with a friend tonight so dd's can just scavenge from the appetizers and desserts at Book Club ... but not the wine

akathy Still in my thoughts and prayers, my friend. I hope today finds you feeling better than yesterday. It's Friday so that means YOYO night!!! There's leftover mac and cheese that I'm sure the girls will have, leftover beef stew that DH and I will have, cereal for the boy, I suspect. I think there's also some breaded chicken left as well.

I'm making a bit pot of chili to eat on for the next several days. My youngest is having a friend over and she doesn't like chili (or much of anything else for that matter haha) so they're having French bread pizza.

Friday-free-for-all. I plan on making turkey tacos. BF inquired as to whether there would be left-overs to heat up. He surprised me last Friday by not going out; all I had was cheese and crackers. Hence last night's inquiry, I guess.

Potatoes au gratin with ham chunks added and extra cheese. Yes, we're talking Betty Crocker here. I really do not seem to be in cook-from-scratch mode this week. And I guess a salad since there are no other fresh veggies left in my fridge. Except carrots and I'm tired of eating carrots. AKathy, you are missed!

Keeping you in my thoughts akathy and hope you're feeling better! Feeling the chill in the air here today so we're having a nice, hearty beef bourguignon over mashed potatoes, all of which I can pull from the freezer. Maybe a small side salad too. I love having meals ready to eat and not having to putz too much in the kitchen every day!

Thinking about you Kathy and sending speeding healing vibes.
Tonight's it's Skinnytaste's eggplant parmesan, which although isn't one of the top favorite meals for the boys, dh and I really like it, so they'll just have to suck it up. The kids will have it with pasta (which you know means every mouthful of eggplant will also include eggplant, and will be gulped down as quickly as possible), I think I'll have mine with green beans.

akathy We miss you!!! Hope you are feeling better today.
Well last night was my final attempt to make that stinkin' chicken. It didn't happen and it went in the trash this morning. I hate it when I waste food.
I don't cook on Fridays as a rule but tonight is my sil's birthday so I am "helping" my mil with dinner. Last night I made ice cream in my handy dandy ice cream maker I got for my birthday. It is vanilla ice cream (with vanilla paste..*thanks akathy! ) with chunked up brownies mixed it. I will serve it on top of a brownie with hot fudge, caramel, and toasted almonds.

Thinking of you akathy ! Tonight we had oven baked salmon and gnocchi (made from scratch for the first time ever, so much better than store bought ones). For dessert we had redcurrants and creme anglais, yummy (at least DD and I think so, DH and DS don't like it).

If I am making a Panini with deli meat, I try to set it out a bit before I am making the Panini (not a ridiculous amount of time, just enough to take the chill off.) I don't like microwaving deli meat to warm it up. Your grilled chicken, I would definitely warm up! Enjoy!

We are going slightly healthy tonight - teriyaki chicken on the George Foreman, steamed carrots and broccoli and brown rice. I may toss some mushrooms in as well.
Good wishes to akathy.

Firstly, akathy I hope you feel better very soon.... ....secondly, you know I more often than not respond when I am not cooking so let's not be different tonight!! I have just completed week one with my new employer after 3 months off (yay) and had to complete what must be one of the hardest tests in my life (made my finals look like child's play) which went VERY well - so, yes, it is yet ANOTHER night of Chinese take away for me!! I can honestly say I deserve this and will enjoy it immensely!

I had a hankering for chili so I scrounged the freezer and came up with some ground beef and chicken. I made this ridiculous amount of chili. Seriously, I am a family of one and have enough for an army. If anyone wants some chili, let me know! ETA: get well Kathy!

This thread doesn't feel the same without akathy. We miss you so much! I'm making Chicken and Dumplings. If there was a spreadsheet kept on this thread, you'd know it was the second time I've made this meal this week. We enjoyed the first pot so much, DH asked for it again. Fine with me...it's an easy dinner to make.

You continue to be in my prayers akathy Dinner isn't the same without you. Dh and I are working late tonight. I have zero dinner plans. After work, we are going to hop in our new hot tub with a glass of wine and some cheese and crackers on a tray on the side. Yep, that works for me! Last night I had a ministry council meeting and we went out for burgers afterwards. Came home and at 11:00pm my back was killing me. We put on our suits and sat in the tub till midnight. It was wonderful!
