Even with two teens in my house at 48, I am the tech savvy one. I think it is because I am stubborn and will screw around and google for hours until I figure it out. That being said right now I am fighting with my printer that doesn't seem to want to keep being wireless and keeps cutting the connection, may be time for a new printer.

You guys have no idea how much better it makes me feel to know I'm not alone! My husband has always been my IT guy, but he has zero interest in digital music, so I'm on my own there. Plus, I just hate having to ask him for every little thing. Ah well.

hugs...... I know exactly how you feel about technology and am 44. For now, I have my kids still at home to help me. My daughter helps me with my phone which is a 7 year old flip phone she had in Jr. High (she has upgraded a few times but I am still using it) and my son keeps my computer working. Just last evening my internet was acting up, I called "tech support" out of his bedroom upstairs hahaha and he had it fixed in less than 2 minutes. He will be graduating in the spring with some computer degree of some sort.. I am not even sure what it is called. I dread the day he is not here to fix my problems and has to help me over the telephone. I feel 75 when it comes to technology. hehe

My 14 year old son is my IT guy. He's just so smart. Right now, he's learning programming language and last week, I had to have him download some new tax software on my computer for my class. I just could not get the thing to run at all. A couple of keystrokes and he had the thing installed and ready to go. I am so grateful to have that kid.

I'm not particularly tech challenged but can still relate - constant upgrades and new programs required even before you've mastered the old

Psss (looking around to see who else is listening in...) The "tech" guys get confused as well. They just know where to find the answers faster!
My dh is a genius guru at Cisco, and HE still has problems getting everything to work. You should see how many different remote we have to run our Direct TV, Hulu, Netflix, Hulu, and whatever it is that lets you show websites on your TV screen.
In the car we'll try to listen to music or a podcast, and dh will tell me what to do to get the program to work. It's so complicated.
This is why I prefer my iPod. I don't want to have to carry that, too, so I do have some music on my phone.
I used to keep up with everything, but it's much harder since I had my stroke and now have MS. That part of my brain no longer works.
Another reason why I also love Apple. Everything just works better with less trouble.

My mother is 90 years old and got an iphone this year and uses the computer. She has a lot of trouble constantly adapting to all the changes, but I am in awe of her. Truly. She can't open a damn thing any more, though. All that plastic everything is sealed in is REALLY hard to get into and frustrates her more than anything else. FWIW, I hate updates too. I HATE those plastic containers and when there's 40lbs of packaging for a product the size of a thumb drive. I've seen life hacks where people opened those clamshell packages with can openers. There's also a special opener where the blade is surrounded so you can't hurt yourself. I have no idea what the thingy is called, though. Hopefully another pea knows what this is called and will tell you. Your mom is awesome!

My sister bought her one of those things - which ironically was packaged in a really hard-to-open hard plastic shell - and both my mom and my sister forgot all about it! My mom has no memory of this gadget at all. Yeah. Getting old is real fun!

I'm not particularly tech-challenged, but I LOATHE i-tunes. I haven't used it in a few years because I hate it so much. They don't make ipods anymore? That sucks, because I was just thinking I'd like to get a new one. Mine is really ancient and I'm not about to kill it trying to upgrade (not that it could anymore, anyway). I am one of those weird people that doesn't want her music on her phone, so I like having the ipod separate. I usually get DD to do anything itunes related for me because it's just so frustrating. Every update made it worse and worse for me. A 21 year old called me ma'am. Now THAT makes me feel old. Little fucker. Lol. I still have an ancient iPod that I use exclusively for music. Not sure why I don't want it on my phone, because my dd tells me I'd like that better. lol. She says "Mom! Why do you want to carry around two things??" I tell her that I'm *not* carrying around two things because the only time I listen to my iPod is when I'm exercising and my phone is sitting in my bag that's right next to me (at the gym) or it's at home (when I'm walking the dog). She said "MOM! You don't take your phone with you when you walk Simba???" hahahaha Maybe she's right on that one, but I usually don't. I love to go to local stores but I am not a mall fan. I wish you were my neighbor, I would ask you to train me on Amazon! Is Amazon Prime where you pay a fee for free shipping/fast delivery? I think the fee wouldn't be worth it for us because we don't order much online. But I did have to order The Middle Season 6 dvd on amazon last week because I called every local store and found the release was online only. Now if I could avoid the grocery store, it may be worth it for me to learn how to order online! Yes, Prime is the one you pay a fee for. I think it's around $100 for the year now. I also thought it wouldn't be worth it. But I have learned better. lol. We order everything from Amazon. Not only does it save wear and tear on the car, and gas, but it also saves me whatever other impulse purchases I'd make at whatever store I had to go to. Also it saves me from having to drive to five different stores -- for instance, recently I've ordered a wall clock, a book, a reflective vest to wear walking the dog in the dark, an Advent calendar for dd, and coconut water for my mother who can't get to the store. Every one of those things comes from a different store, plus the Advent calendar is shipped directly to dd, and the coconut water goes directly to my mother. If I bought those things here then I'd have to get to the post office and pay for shipping. And, don't forget the video streaming benefits, the music, and the free or inexpensive kindle books. Amazon Prime I will have to look into the video/music stuff. I don't know what "streaming" is, but I hear it all the time. Again, tech stuff is like a foreign language to me! Is that like ordering an episode of a tv show to always be able to watch online? I love to have The Middle, The Goldbergs dvds on my computer when I clean!
I do love going to many stores, but I would love to order some make up to save a trip to the mall. And I know what you mean about impulse purchase! When my husband goes out of town for a week, I actually save a little money by going out to eat with the kids (not expensive places, but cheap places). Because I am not making impulse purchases at the grocery store.
I will have to ask my husband if he thinks it would be worth it. He orders train things online (model railroad) but I think he orders from train online places. You make some good points about it!
