on the deal(IE: BOGO lunch, phone, shoes...ANYTHING), would you expect both to pay 1/2 of the price of one, or does that person get the FREE item for free?
(This question came up after seeing a BIGO phone deal, and how the other person reacted.)

I would say it was 1/2 and 1/2.

Definitely 1/2 each, although I know a couple of people who would expect to take the freebie off my hands with convoluted reasoning that I was going to buy it anyway.

I've only ever seen BOGO deals on stuff like shampoo and other toiletries never good things like phones etc. For something like that I'd expect the other person to pay half.

For me it would depend on the situation. If the person was on a fixed income, in need or in circumstances of challenge then I would be happy to say I pay and you can benefit from the free one. If not than yes I would assume we split it and we both saved some $ on the deal.

I completely agree with all of you. At the end of this commercial (Yes, I know it's just a silly commercial), the two girls both say "and, I got mine free!" And, then they both look at each other and say, "wait, what?"
Uh, NO. Hand over your half, cheapskate! LOL

If I'm expected to pay 100% then I'm keeping the free one for myself.

Only an unreasonable person would expect to share a BOGO and get their item for free. That said, I bought shoes on Buy 1 Get 1 50% off with my niece and I paid full price and she got 50% off hers, but she's 16 and family

Well now a days you would have to pay three quarters each because buy one get one is buy one get one half off.

I think it depends on the item and cost. A phone, yes that cost would be split. Something like a lunch or sometimes Starbucks has an afternoon deal, then I typically ask someone to have the free item as my treat.

if someone was going to pay full price and someone will get something the free thing, then it might as well be me for both. otherwise, it's 1/2 1/2.

I would also do that with my parents as a respect thing. Otherwise I would hope it was split 50/50 so each can save.

Other than that 50/50

you'd go in halves on the price-- unless you wanted to give one as a gift, or something... I would never expect someone to pay for something for me that wasn't a gift; that's crazy!

1/2 and 1/2...unless there is a significant price differential. For instance, first item was $40 and second item was $20.

She will pay for the whole thing and then give us the free one. Or if there is a discount for buying two, she will pay for both. If it were a friend though, of course it would be a 50/50 deal. I wouldn't expect a friend to subsidize my shopping needs.

Each pay half. Why would one person get the full on deal an the other have to pay the full on price? That sucks for one person.

Split it (as long as both items were relatively close in price) otherwise what would be the benefit to the person that had to pay full price. They might was well get the second one free and not involve anyone else.

I would assume that you both go in paying half the total price.
Why would one pay and the other get it free if they are "going in on" an item, unless that was expressly the stated agreement?

In most normal cases 1/2 & 1/2
If I was with my mom.. she would probably buy it and give me free item..
If I was with my bestie.. we might buy it for fun and give the freebie to the other person..
But yeah.. 1/2 and 1/2
