I know in reviews people are saying Cricut's cuts are better than Cameo's. That is true to a certain degree. Cameo has a horrible blade housing. I use the CB09 blade housing with my Cameo. If you are cutting with the Cameo - there is a somewhat new feature called overcut. It is a game changer on cuts. Small cuts especially. When you set the 'overcut' to ON it very slightly cuts past the end of a cut, the blade lifts, then starts again slightly before the cut line - thus overcutting the angle/corner. I set mine to 0.1mm. Because the blade lifts and turns, instead of swiveling - it doesn't pull up the corners or lift the small pieces. To find it - select your media type, scroll down to below the blade setting area and you will see it. It IS AMAZING! I am a die hard Silhouetter -but I have to say I am impressed with the new guy at Cricut. He really seems to be on top of the game. What I think is fantastic about the Silhouette machines is that they do not go obsolete. Even the very old Craft Robo machine can use the current software, blades, and mats. You can still use the software with old operating systems too - they keep a "legacy" version of the software easily available for those that have very old OS. Yes, this is one of the reasons I'll be switching to a Cameo when my old cricut create finally dies. The screen has gone - at least I can still use it with SCAL while I save for a new machine

Best tip of the whole week. I just found it in the software. I will definitely be using it. I already get great cuts. Perfecting it is better. I am a die hard Graphetec user too. Have been for many years since the Wishblade. It is my first choice machine. It would probably be my only die cutter if I didn't need to cut out heavy materials. I always love machines that Graphetec produces because I am a very detailed person. Graphetec has never failed me on that respect. I love it too we can use our old machines with the newer software. I always say if you buy a Graphetec plotter you have a die cutter for a lifetime, unless you have a klutzy husband who accidentally broke two of your cutters. I think it's wonderful how they support their user base by allowing us to use different software programs and hardware on their systems. The only complaint I ever had about any Graphetec cutter was only the Cameo. That is just the blade housing. I never liked the blade housing. Even Silhouette has admitted the blade housing has issues. I really respect them for that. Most companies are not that honest. Cricut I have had several complaints over the years. I guess that's why I get fed up and a little distrusting of them. I could never part with my Cameo even though I am enjoying my new Cricut. I do keep thinking about the Explore "Oh please don't be a doorstop." The whole Internet thing still makes me nervous about using it.

I have a quick question. I am thinking about getting the explore air, but want to know something. I have a whole bunch of files from Lettering Delights, that I have downloaded. Can you use them on the explore at all? I sold my old silhouette, so I am hoping I dont have to buy 2 machines.
Thanks, Heather

You can use your Lettering Delights with the Cricut Explore. If I remember correctly LD uses PNG & SVG for their files. Cricut imports those files just fine. I do know that Lettering Delights does PDF, least some of the files I own are PDF. If you have a vector program on your computer- Inkscape, Illustrator, Corel Draw, Serif Draw those programs will convert your PDF to SVG easily. This is Cricut's PDF on importing files into Cricut Design Space- content.cricut.com/b/pdfs/design-space-manual/08b_image_upload_update.pdfHope that helps.
