Do you put out special towels for Christmas? You know the kind with Christmasy patterns and such on them?
Do you only put them in the bathrooms or do you have them in your kitchen too?
I don't put them in the bathroom but I do have them in my kitchen. In the bathroom I have red and green fingertip towels but only put them out if I am having company.

I have them and put them in the guest bathroom and in the kitchen. I like having a little bit of Christmas all over the house

I just put two snowman towels on the small, straight towel rod in my guest bathroom. They will stay up through March, at which point I will be sick of winter. In the summer I have a towel that is a beach theme, since we live at the beach. That's pretty much the extent of changing the decorative towels. (There is a separate towel ring for the one to dry hands on.)

Good lord!! Another variety of 'special towels' thread!! Are guests allowed to use them? Must say, Christmas towels are a mystery to me....not something I've ever thought about let alone purchased!

I only have 1 small fingertip towel with an ornament on it. Other than that, no.

nope. we don't do any entertaining in our home, so it's pointless to change out the towels just for us.
we have some friends who are the BEST host / hostesses ever, and they do this... but I always struggle with 'do I use the pretty towel to dry my hands, or is it just for decoration?' so I'd kind of rather they didn't, to tell the truth.
if you want something solely for decoration, then hang up a picture, or something-- to me, a towel is supposed to be USED, so if it's a decorative towel, then it should still be used, right?? but I know that's not everyone's opinion.

Agreed. A decorative towel is an oxymoron for sure.

we DO have decorative kitchen towels for drying dishes-- flour sack towels that my mom embroiders designs onto... perhaps I should have her make a couple Christmas ones for us!

I have a set of Christmas towels for the guest bath that my mother gave me. They are not something I would buy. I do put out hand towels next to the sink for guests to use all year long so there is no guessing what to use. I also have Christmas towels for the kitchen just because I like them.

I have Christmas towels and Halloween towels for kitchen and bathroom and I expect them to be used. I use them myself. The kids use them. I just wash them as frequently as I would any other towel. I would never put out towels and not expect people to actually use them.

I do have a tea towel in the kitchen with a gingerbread man on it but it's there to be used......and will probably keep on being used well after Twelfth Night!

I have red, white and green Christmas tea towels in the kitchen and a white towel with a snowflake embroidered on the bottom of it in my powder room ... my main level is definitely in the Christmas spirit

I have Christmas hand towels that I hang in the guest bathroom. They are not fancy linen ones that have to be ironed, just regular hand towels w/ a holly wreath on them. In fact, they get used so often that I generally have to replace them every three years or so. I can usually buy them at Dillards or Macys for next to nothing when I catch a sale.

Yes to both kitchen and bath. I have a little rack next to the bathroom sink that holds 6 fingertip towels, and a basket with additional towels (for parties). They are decorative and can be used by guests. Win-win! I also have a snowman soap dispenser, snowman night light and a Christmas candle. Our little powder room is very Christmasy.

Must say, Christmas towels are a mystery to me....not something I've ever thought about let alone purchased! That was my first thought too My mom has given us some decorative Easter and Christmas towels through the years. Dh doesn't understand seasonal anything so we use them throughout the year. He also keeps the other holiday decorations she gives us on a shelf all year long when he can. Luckily we are not big entertainers so no one to judge!

I used to have holiday hand towels, and tea towels, for EVERY holiday and season. And we used them. By the time my oldest entered kindergarten it was clear this was not something I could manage in space or time.
My mother and grandmothers did this. So I have guilt about not having as festive a house for my children. (See how I tied in the other thread?)

I have one Christmas towel in the guest bathroom that might get used once or twice. It is of a slutty reindeer with Vixen underneath it. It is cute and made me laugh. It is green, so it should wash and wear well.

I buy Christmas tea towels for the kitchen. (I'm a little obsessed with tea towels) I have Christmas hand towels, fingertip towels, and a santa soap dish that were all gifts that come out some years.

I don't think I've ever even seen Christmas towels, apart from dish towels that is. And I am making an executive decision not to go looking for them either!

The fingertip towels I have I received as a Christmas gift. I do not use them. They are in the box they came in in the closet. I see no need for them.
I do have a few Christmas dishtowels - snow man, gingerbread man and tree embroidered on them. They get used.

I have them in both my kitchen and bathroom. I make sure people realize they are to be used by not putting any other towels out. I had to buy new ones for my kitchen this year because I can't find the ones I bought last year. (I think my dd has them)

I have them in my bathrooms and in my kitchen.
I have to buy new kitchen ones every year because my dogs jump and grab them off the counters and rip them apart.
I can't hang towels on the "normal" things, like the range and dishwasher because the dogs will also tear them apart from there.
But for some reason they don't bother with the ones from the bathroom!

I have some blue hand towels with snowflakes on them in the bathroom, which is blue. I do have some Christmas tea towels. I forgot to dig them out. Definitely all towels are to use, no decorative only towels here.
