Halloween is my favorite holiday to decorate so I try to put a few things out. We live in a small apt so we have no space to store stuff really...we also don't get kids trick or treating.

Usually just the front porch. It's mostly fall stuff that I leave up through Thanksgiving.

Thanks! I think our days are numbered though. DS is 9 now and DD is 7. She wants to dress up like a Monster High character this year. I don't think anyone else in the family is willing to go along with that!

We love out in the boonies so no outside decorations really. I put out a jack o lantern Scentsy warmer and a "boo" wood decoration on the door.
Oh and my kids carve pumpkins. We out them on the porch. Then they get fuzzy.

We go all out. We blast music from various scary movies and tv shows, (think dexter, Halloween, ghostbusters, Friday the 13, the exorcist, etc), we have strobe lights and fog machines, we hang orange and purple christmas lights, and have decorations all over the place. There are ghost lights, a scary devil head popping out of the flower bed, skulls, and jackolanterns. We also got these really cool window covers where they have a picture on one side, and the light from the room shines through illuminating it. My favorite ones are the zombies where it looks like they are breaking through the windows to get you! And candy. We make sure we have tons of candy. It is awesome. We have over 200+kids, and they all make an effort to come to our house. The kids and their parents tell us it is their favorite one to visit every year. I have no idea how we will play it this year though, as we just bought a new house and I don't know how many kids are in our neighborhood.

Totally know what you mean, Christi. The last few years I've started decorating late September which has helped me get everything up by the 2nd week of October.

Yes! I love Halloween. Outside I have orange lights around the door (just on Halloween night) and jack o'lanterns on the steps. Inside I have lots of pumpkins and a few ghoulish things like skeletons, a skull, and a bloody arm. I think my favorite indoor decoration last year was the black raven wall clings that I put around the front hallway. I think they were from the Martha Stewart line. I can't let myself do the cottony cobweb stuff, as much as I like the way it looks. Once I start fiddling with it, I start obsessing over how it looks and five hours later I'm still standing there making cobwebs. ETA: Here's a decoration I used to love. As you can see, I had to stop putting it on the table.

I love the autumn and Halloween and can't wait to put up all my decorations. Now that my kids are a bit older I can put out the scarier things.
Sharlag-I love your decorations! 1lear-what a great website! I think I may need to do some damage there!

I like to decorate inside for Halloween. I especially have fun with my mantel. The banner is from a 2peas swap a couple of years ago. Most of the rest of the decorations are thrifted, even the silver pencil tree that I change out for different holidays. This year I want to add some potion bottles and creepy crawlies under glass. The candles were simple - just drip red candle wax down white ones. I bought a frame, painted it with black glitter paint, covered the matt with paper from HL, printed the image off the computer and added a cat face to the o in Boo. Going to try to post photos for the first time!

I always have the best of intentions but I never seem to get around to it. I don't know why because I have some really cute Halloween decorations! We've been in our house for almost 5 years now and no real decorating. Granted, one year we were hit by a hurricane and another year we got a severe early snowstorm, but I have no excuse for the other years! Last year, I hung some pumpkin and ghost lights in my bay window and called it good. I hope to do better this year!

I have a very cute door hanging that says, "Good Witch, Bad Witch.....it depends on my Mood."
I usually only decorate the day off Halloween, and I take it down that night after the trick-or-treaters have stopped coming. We used to have issues with vandals, not sure it will never happen again, and most of my decorations are breakable pottery.

Another cheap, easy idea - pick up books at rummage sales/thrift stores with scary titles (Son of a Witch book) and use them in your decorating. I'm on the look-out for more, so I can elevate some of my decorations. I also want a few to stack and then top with a pumpkin or skull for on my coffee table. That real tarantula under glass (found at Good Will for $3.99) freaks out a lot of my friends. As long as it's dead, I'm OK!!

Would you believe I am decorating for Halloween/Fall next week!!! Don't lynch me yet, I'll explain!!! I am having a Halloween/Fall banner making party at my house next week and I am decorating the room we will be crafting in along with my kitchen, where we will be snacking! Around the second week of September I start decorating in earnest and we are THAT house that goes all out for Halloween! I make lots of Halloween crafts because I am a Pinterest addict and see so many cute things.

Yes. I do a tablescape mainly because it fills my urge to decorate, but keeps it contained and easy to do. I do have scary stuff for outside, but I also use pumpkins (as opposed to jack o' lanterns) and scarecrows so the outside decor easily becomes fall decor.

No. I don't decorate for any holiday besides Christmas. Too much effort to get it out and put it away and I don't have the space to store it. This is me too. Besides we don't get any trick or treaters.

I love decorating for Halloween! My favorite decoration is dumb, but it's a small upper-half skeleton (just the rib cage, head, and arms) that I got at the .99 store. I stick it in the bushes, and for some reason it makes me smile whenever I see it (probably because it reminds me of the Terminator. Ha!)

I made the most beautiful deco mesh garland. It is a Pinterest project that I LOVE. That all sounds so vain, but I am so happy that it turned out so nice. I can't link the pin, as I'm not THAT talented but if you search Halloween garland it is a beautiful pin and the main colors are orange, black, lime and purple. The purple added so much to the garland!! Great project..which led to a Christmas garland. It's an addiction!!

When my daughter was young, Halloween was one of my favorite holidays to decorate for. I always thought it was a great holiday to get really creative with decorating. Since she is grown and out on her own, however, it is no longer worth the effort to me. We live in a very rural area and don't get any trick or treaters. Perhaps if we did I may feel differently.

Around the middle of September I bring out my Fall floral arrangements and get out some of my pumpkins and gourds. Then in October I add the more traditional Halloween decorations. After Halloween, I pull down the Halloween (Jack-o-Lanterns, witches, ghosts, etc.) stuff and add the Thanksgiving stuff, turkeys, pilgrims, etc. I love the colors and coolness of the Fall.

Hey Ladies, I want to be forthcoming about starting this thread & I have received permission from our Fairy Podmother to move forward. I started this thread because I was curious to see how popular Halloween is in your area. I've seen stories in the past about Halloween being an evil holiday and I couldn't disagree more. My favorite memories as a kid was creating my Halloween costumes and then coming home & sorting out my candy. Anyway, when I saw the responses and saw the awesome pictures of your decorations I wanted to say "thanks" for your participation. I am a Stampin' Up! demonstrator and in our upcoming Holiday Catalog is an adorable Halloween home decor kit. Since y'all were so great about participating I'd like to do a giveaway. All that I ask you to do is click on the link in my signature to my blog. It's currently under construction but you can enter your email address. I'd like to randomly give one person the Halloween wreath that will be available at the end of August. The giveaway will end Thursday, August 7th @ 11:59pm EDT. I will notify the winner on Friday, August 8, 2014. Attachment Deleted
