I watched a Design memory craft ustream class last night and the artist (Jen Matott) used beeswax on her project. It was gorgeous and I was feeling inspired to maybe go out and buy some. Has anyone worked with it before. What did you think? The project from the blog and the link to blog here

I haven't done encaustic, but it is on my to buy and to do list. I love the look. Maybe next year. (Trying to balance scrap purchases with other wants and kitchen items win this year.) Cloth Paper Scissors has a kit on sale this month. I know I saw a video from them on it as well many years ago. Please share your work if you take the plunge.

I learned about this a couple of years ago but it's one thing I have decided not to get into. Whew, saves the pocketbook.

I was lucky enough to have a friend who tried it, didn`t like it and then gave all the supplies to me. Including the iron. I`ts great fun even for someone like me who can`t draw a straight line without a ruler. LOL A kit sounds like a brilliant way to try Encaustic painting. Go for it. Mind you I have the little soldering iron gadget that I haven`t tried yet. Something else to put on the list of stuff to do.

I absolutely love the look of encaustic paintings and how encaustic can make your paper look transparent for the underlying layers. I've only tried it using regular beeswax on canvas painted background just playing around.

Love the effect. I have the products.....but not the tools. I improvise with stuff at home, as I don't mind brush strokes in my wax.....or if it's too bad I just zap it with the best gun

I don't know how to do it, but the page that you posted is so artsy and beautiful! I'll have to look up how to do it, it looks very cool.
