The biggest hit in our family wasn't from me, but from my EX to our oldest daughter. He bought (leased) her a brand new car!
Other hits appear to be the video game I bought for ds (that he requested so knew I couldn't go wrong there), a fuzzy chair for oldest dd, some new Nike pros and Nike sports bras for youngest dd... Oh and the space heater I bought for EX. He has a home office in the garage (his choice) and is always complaining about how cold it gets out there, so I happened up a cheap space heater at Target and decided to pick it up for him. He's normally a gift complainer, but he's raving over it.
There weren't too many misses although oldest dd probably isn't going to use the markers I bought for her adult coloring books (she prefers crayons which I ordered on Amazon and gave her yesterday). Ds also got multiple gift cards to Sports Chalet from my dad's side of the family. There was a miscommunication when they asked what the kids wanted. I said youngest dd would like Sports Chalet and ds would like Amazon or Target or even gc to fast food places!
Youngest dd is also a bit miffed at her dad because he gave the oldest dd the car, her brother a new ds, and she got a pair of shoes (which she loves, but he had promised to get her a Disneyland pass).
I'm not one for gifts myself so nothing really exciting for me. My mom did give me my yearly pair of Converse lol and some fake Uggs that I had picked out plus a whole bunch of long sleeved shirts I needed. Two of the kids gave me nothing and the third "the artist" printed out a picture of the two of us together and created a little canvas art that I now need to figure out what to do with.

Straightener for my 16yo...hit Keep Calm and Eat Pudding t-shirt for my Walking Dead fan, 14yo daughter. ..hit Cupcake cookbooks for my 8yo daughter and aspiring bakery owner...hit Harley Quinn socks for my 15yo niece...hit Sofa for my in-laws. ..hit
Miss...my 8yo really wanted a grey Tabby Cat Beanie Boo. I didn't want to buy it on Amazon for $26 when they're normally $6. I couldn't find it anywhere locally.

Hits all around, but Dh usually takes me shopping for input. I got a pair of sterling and cz earrings, Clarks shoes, a good hairdryer. He surprised me with a pair of soft blue pj pants, a matching soft robe and a pair of cosy mittens for my winter walks. And a big container of Nonnie's biscotti.
I got Dh a ratchet wrench set from Sears which he picked out, new jeans and socks, a dvd he was wanting and a collection of Hank Snow (old country) cds. Made him his usual batch of fudge.
Ds was happy with jeans, socks, a pressure cooker, and a check. Ds gf liked the BBW Sweet Pea set and a bit of cash in her card.
The big miss this year was spending time in various doctor's offices, including a walk in clinic with ds. He started feeling puny on the evening of the 23rd, nobody open 'til Saturday. Drove in the torrential rain to the walk in clinic where they diagnosed strep and put him on a z pack. Did not improve, so Tuesday am he saw our GP who said tonsil abscess, and referred him to an ent who drained it and put him on clindamycin. After 3 doses he had increasingly horrible heartburn, so had to get something else. Happily he is on the mend, and hopefully he and gf can go home tomorrow. I did not have the Christmas vacation I anticipated, but I would have been very anxious about him had I not been able to care for him, he's 20.

My husband loves to shop so he easily spoils us every year so we are usually all hits in our household but our one big miss this year was sadly something that was a huge hit but we realized it was truly a miss, the BB8 for my son. He loved it but we just couldn't get it to hold a charge and stay connected to the app, not a lot of tech support yet with such a new toy and it was way smaller than we expected so after a group discussion with ds we decided BB8 would be returned, sadly. Son was a bit upset but understood why it wasn't right to keep a $200 toy that didn't live up to expectations nor work as well as we'd expect. Sorry to hear that. DS got one and it works great. It is small. I was afraid dog would think it was,a ball and grab it but he doesn't. Probably because he first saws it run around on its own. And $200 is overpaying. They are $150 most places and get it at BB&B and get $30 off with coupon. Still a lot for a toy. (I did 't buy it) Maybe you just got a lemon?

Sure ours was a lemon but we'll wait until it has more/better features and maybe (fingers crossed) the price will come down too. Ds said he's excited to start saving for an iPhone instead. Lol. He's 10. Yah I'm thinking a new BB8 will be along before a cell phone... Oi.

I wondered what the heck kind of gadget a BB8 was and why this thread was the first I was hearing about it.

I got ds17 a really nice leather jacket from Macy's. He is disappointed because he wanted one that looked like it belonged in Grease but his cousins and I decided he needs something that won't be a fad. He was also kind if squicked out by the feel of it because it was such a nice soft buttery leather.
I'm very happy with the electric blanket my mom gave me at my request. I received it yesterday and had a cozy night's sleep.
My mother gave me an antique wall hanging of a bible verse. I appreciate that she is trying to think of me but I really don't know what to do with it. It's not a verse that has any special meaning to me. But as I said, I very much appreciate the effort and thought behind it. She also gave me my uncle's New Testament from when he was in the military. I thought that was neat.

I can relate to the disappointment of getting thoughtless gifts. DH would always ask a million times "do you like it?" And act like getting new pots for the third year in a row because he found such a good deal should excite me. I finally decided a few years ago that I deserved to have gifts I wanted so I started buying them for myself. If I saw a pair of boots I liked I bought them and put them away until Christmas. Then after the holidays I pull out my I Love Me stash and enjoy my new stuff. This year I got a few candles, some make up and a jacket. Many times the ladies here find good deals and I end up with cool things for much less money than one would ever think. Now would anyone like the really ugly sweater, size large hat (I don't wear hats and I am petite) or Tervis tumbler with no lid and a wine glass inside that I got? I accepted them graciously and added them to my regift box knowing my stash was waiting for me next time I was home alone. Wrap those up and give them to yourself from Santa lol
