I've been clearing out a few areas that I've been stashing stuff (I'm a stasher, out of sight, out of mind). Brought two boxes to the thrift store this afternoon. Also been going through my magazines, had a four-foot stack sitting next to my bed. Finally in the year 2016 and just have a few left. I also went through all the pages torn out of magazines since college, so fifteen years worth? Most of the recipes and ideas are online now so they are pinned but there were so many things I pulled that I know I will never do or make. I had at least ten accordion folders of those. I also FINALLY went through my oldest daughter's artwork from the last six years. I've been putting it off because of the sheer amount of paper but it only took a couple of hours. Filled up a recycling bin and took that this afternoon. Filed away the artwork worth keeping and put aside larger pieces to photograph. Now all her stuff is in a plastic file box and her little sister's box is set up and ready for when artwork starts rolling in for her. And the title to my husband's car was mixed up in a pile of artwork from two years ago! Now I just need to get the energy to go through the box I've just been throwing pictures in. All the school and sports pictures from the last few years are still in their envelopes, I need to go through and make packets of pictures for the grandparents.

two weekends worth of yard sales (we did one and SIL did the second) and late MILs stuff is out of my spare room and SOLD! What a project!
Just cleaned out the kids' craft cabinet - tossed the bubbles (more than a dozen little bottles) and a gazzillion coloured feathers and sequins and tiny shells and ...
Next up is the game cabinet and two overfilled magazine holders....
[of course yDD just celebrated her 10th birthday so I'm not sure I've actually made any headway]
game cabinet is DONE - Thomas' Big Race, Monopoly Don't Go to Jail, a 4pk of wooden puzzles, a wooden USA puzzle, Skipbo Jr, Uno dominoes are all in the donation pile. My youngest is 10...I think we're done with preschool stuff
Magazines are DONE - down to ONE holder - 11 magazines got to the donation pile
Went through the desk drawers - one grocery sack full of discards

I'm still going, slowly, but still keeping on.
I bought a bunch of things for a tablescape for my dd's party.
Party's over. I'm going to toss the stuff on this trash day. (Yes, maybe I should donate, but that would be just too much work for me, and won't actually happen, and then I'll still have all the crap cluttering me.)
I have this huge pile of outgrown clothes that I'm trying to sell on eBay. But it's just not selling well or fast enough. At this point, I don't even think it's worth the trouble. I'm really close to just tossing the lot of it.
I have some kind of Polaroid camera that I picked up at thrift store on impulse with ideas of reselling it. But I'm just tired of listing, not selling, etc. I have no idea if it works. I just want it gone. Why is it still sitting on my shelf?
And of course I have boatloads of school paperwork, that despite my best efforts to corral, it is in a stack on my desk. I need to trash most of that too.
I'm just so tired of so much stuff.

I'm just so tired of so much stuff. That, in a nutshell! I've been decluttering for YEARS now and I've gotten rid of SO much stuff but there is still SO MUCH stuff. It doesn't help that DH is a pack rat and a flea market/yard sale bargain hunter and of course, I'm not allowed to declutter his stuff. I did move all the stacks and piles and boxes of his stuff (mostly National Geo. magazines from the family room into the spare room closet which helps visually at least. I would LOVE to get rid of them altogether but...he has grand plans of pulling out vintage ads, mounting them, and selling them...

I think I have reached the end of the line....sniff. I have decluttered every closet, drawer and everything in between. I used my last 25%. off coupon today. You get a 25% off coupon when you donate. I still am bringing in more crap though.

I've gotten rid of a bunch of stuff recently through TrashNothing.com including an Ab Roller and a nearly new pogo stick. I don't know what DH was thinking when he bought it for DS when he was 10.

Seriously, what is it with men and their National Geographic collections? I hear this complaint from friends all the time. DH had 32 years worth of them and finally agreed to get rid of them 3 years ago. When I think of the time and money that was wasted moving them all of the world for 35+ years, I just shake my head. I bought him a DVD that had most of the back issues on it. He hasn't even touched it as far as I know. So his argument that he might want to reference an article at some point in time really didn't hold water, did it? SaveI have this huge pile of outgrown clothes that I'm trying to sell on eBay. I have some kind of Polaroid camera that I picked up at thrift store on impulse with ideas of reselling it. But I'm just tired of listing, not selling, etc. Things have been slow on eBay for me lately, though I really haven't added much new stuff. I had a nice stack of my clothes that I kept thinking I'd list. Finally realized a few weeks ago that I just needed it gone and it wasn't worth the hassle of trying to sell, so I bagged it all up and sent it off with my housekeeper. Clothes is really not something I enjoy listing (too much detail you have to list), so I will stick to the crafts, sewing/fabric and needlework. The old stuff I have listed is on it's last chance. What doesn't sell will be donated. With the last phase of our remodel starting in Jan, I have to get the guest room (aka eBay Central) cleared out because we will be living in there while they redo our bedroom/bath. The biggest thing I've gotten rid of recently is the dining room table. I inherited my mom's oak pedestal table and sent it out to be refinished. The other table was much larger, but very pretty after I chalk painted it. Turns out my housekeeper was needing a dining room table, so it went to live with her. She is thrilled to bits! I am amazed at how much more room I have with mom's table in there. Didn't realize what a monster that old table was. Now the dining room is much more workable and has breathing room!

We have also been purging real estate files we've kept since the early 80's from DH's escrows. Boxes upon boxes of files. We went semi-paperless a while back where everything is online for clients.
Also, tax returns. We've been dumping all the supporting paperwork and just kept the actual returns. I know we don't *have* to after 7 years but I still *wanted* to. We owned a windmill that we bought the year we wee married ~ way before it was the cool thing to do. We had boxes of paperwork for that thing.

Just came in from the garage. I have 10 of those big Rubbermaid totes. Pulled two of them out that had Halloween junk and the remains of the Easter decorations. Of all of that, I kept one thing from the Halloween box (a small ceramic jack-o-lantern that goes over a night light base my late MIL made) and one set of ceramic rabbits that late MIL painted. They may well make the donation pile yet, just waiting on DH and DD to decide. I did find 5 of those personal size Wilton pans, new with tags, that will be going on eBay this week. The rest filled up one of the boxes for donation and a black trash bag. Only 8 more boxes to go, but I think I'll wait for the cool weather to return this weekend. It's hotter out there than I thought it would be. Also, tax returns. We've been dumping all the supporting paperwork and just kept the actual returns. We've already dumped all the support paperwork, but have all our tax returns from 1977. I am going to see if I can convince DH to get rid of all the older ones this weekend. They serve no purpose and take up too much precious storage space!

And my favorite picture of DS when he was 3 dressed as a clown in a frame that says *My Favorite Pumpkin*. ETA: I just looked at it and it actually says *My Little Pumpkin.*

Okay, ever have a moment when all the stuff is driving you insane?
Yeah, I'm there.
I'm just tossing. So much. It doesn't even seem to make a dent, but out it goes.
Outgrown clothes of the kids. Broken toys. Toys that weren't even in good condition when someone well-meaning gave them to them.
How's your decluttering going now that it's November?

Doesn't help that I've been on crutches since Oct 10th so the house is worse than ever and then I just got back last night after being out of state since Fri...operation clean and declutter is about to start (I'm still on crutches but only one)

And today I'm on a roll.
It occurred to me that Christmas is next month, and a bunch more things will come in.
So, today I cleared out:
The kids' art supplies shelves.
I tossed all non-Crayola crayons. They don't use them anyway, so might as well just keep the good stuff.
Tossed three or four used up coloring books. Tossed a large handful of "mess ups." The blank pieces of paper where the kid starts to draw something, but then doesn't like what they did, so they discard it, but it never quite ends up in the trash.
Went through the fifty or so cans of PlayDoh. There are five left that are soft enough to play with. Good thing Santa knows that they will want more. Santa may or may not have already placed his order with Walmart.... erm, I mean the elves.
Tossed a bunch of bath toys that have been sitting in the hallway outside of the bathroom since this summer, before the bathroom was painted. Just gross and gone.
Tossed toy cars with missing wheels. And we keep these why?
Tossed the plastic toy space blasters that were broken. Who's kidding who? There's no good way to fix them and they're doing no good up on a shelf.
Tossed the flea market firefighter that broke as it was being given to my kid. *Shakes head* There was no amount of superglue that could hold it together.
If nothing else, this year of decluttering has taught me that I don't want cheaply made things in the house. Especially not toys that the kids get attached to, then they break, then they are miserable and beg me to fix them. And then I get frustrated.

well done LavenderLayoutLady! I did the medicine cabinet - organised, tossed a couple of EMPTY containers (really?), and set aside my leftover pain meds for disposal. I cleaned out my fridge - apparently during the 4 weeks since my surgery, NO ONE has tossed ANY leftovers...YUCK! next up - the plastic cup/water bottle cabinet....

I just moved last weekend. Salvation Army is coming to pick up a lot of barely worn teenage boy clothing, nice work clothes that I barely wore, plus a fridge, a sectional sofa, coffee table, and a tv stand, a tv, and 3 DVD players. I also donated my son's barely used bike to the local bike shop (they have a Christmas donation event for kids).
While cleaning out my kitchen, I was shocked at how old some of my canned foods and spices were. Yuk!
It feels so nice to be starting my new home out with no clutter. I wish I would have done this sooner!

got rid of a half dozen water bottles, tossed the bottles without lids and the lids without bottles (HOW does that happen?) and moved a dozen of DH's waterbottles to a less convenient location (since he insists on keeping them ALL) so now nothing falls OUT when we open that cabinet.

After stalling for a long while I've been adding random things to my garage sale bosxes as I find them in the house. I sold an old dining room table and washstand online and the last of those was picked up this morning. I have a few more larger pieces still to list.
More importantly though, we have started setting up for the garage sale which is next weekend and I cannot wait for it to be over!

working on my cookbook shelf today...
so far I've added a dozen magazines and nearly 2 dozen cookbooks to the donation pile!
Went through my cross-stitch box yesterday - tossed a couple of projects that I never plan to finish and FOUND a couple that were completely stitched and just need assembly.
I wish I could SEE progress...I keep getting rid of stuff and I'm not BUYING stuff for the most part but...

working on my cookbook shelf today... so far I've added a dozen magazines and nearly 2 dozen cookbooks to the donation pile! I did that a few months ago. Got rid of quite a few cookbooks, as well as the huge stack of recipe clippings/print outs. That was easily 4-5" thick. The best part? I haven't missed a single one of them. I have been sidelined with a busy schedule and being sick. Really need to get back to my dining room and uncover the table. Thanksgiving is next week and it would be nice to eat at the table! Save

This past weekend I *FINALLY* deep cleaned my scraproom! OMG, it was at the top of my To Do list for over a year!
I started at my desk, and worked my way around the entire room, emptied the Expedit and cleaned that out, and finished it off with steam mopping the hardwood floor.
That room sparkles now and looks uncluttered and beautiful again! Now I don't even want anyone in there to start making messes again!
I boxed a lot of stuff and hauling it off to Goodwill and giving some as donation. Wow that feels great. I still have more purging to do, but as far as I'm concerned the hardest part is done, whahoooo!
