meeko77....thank you for the words Dowager said in French .....I never got around to finding out what she said and then translating them I also google many of the historical references they make, and some of the slang words, such as "daft", etc. To whoever mentioned Thomas' recent meanness & embarrassing the former servant; I'd forgotten about that! I've been rooting for him lately, but yes----his jealously & hostility against her was uncalled for. I liked how Robert & Mary (?) both seemed to feel bad for never noticing her for the 2 years she worked there.

I can't believe I typed all that out. Note I'm going to hit Post just so I can remember all this when I write the novel. Ha! A couple of those are close to the mark. Not saying which ones though. Hmmm...

Going back to my outrage from the epi before last night...Did anyone else think it was amazingly horrible that as Robert was hemorrhaging in the dining room, Cora & Dowager were arguing about their damn conflict ?!?! HOW could they not be with him, holding his hand, etc !?!?
And even if being in the dining room while the medics / doc were attending to him might not be realistic---(and some people don't want to see those kinds of things, so I understand why they wouldn't be in the dining room) ---But still ----HOW could they not be talking / crying / freaking out that he was possibly dying ?!?!!?

Lol ....Z*G ...Did you see my recent post where I tried to tag you 3 different ways, but NONE of them worked ...GAH !!!! When I signed up, it wouldn't let me have a user name with * in it. So I had to sign up as zg, and add the * later as my screen name. If you hover over a poster's screen name, or click on it, you can see what their user name is and you type it in that way to tag someone.

For as smart as Mary has been portrayed this entire show, they are making her look like a moron about Marigold. And Carson, he's going to find himself divorced if he doesn't knock it off. Geesh, 20th century caveman :-p Yeah I'm about ready to give him a kick in the head if she doesn't do it first.

Mr Carson should retire and let Thomas have the position. Then he can spend all his time getting crisp edges on the sheets.

I'm watching the finale of season 3 and I can barely stand to finish it Seeing the family on their trip to the Highlands where Mary and Matthew spent so much time apart (as expected) and then when she went home and insisted he stay, I am crying knowing that she missed her chance to spend a few more days with him before the unthinkable happened. I know there was no way for her to know, but you'd think after Sybill they would cling to each other at least until they knew the baby and Mary would be fine. I know it would not have changed the outcome but my heart breaks knowing what is about to happen. I loved their story so much.

Did anyone else find it hard to believe that no one in the family knew anything about their own house? Cora hadn't noticed the blank shields above the fireplace and didn't know who the people in the paintings were? That was awful! I agree - I thought to myself, how can they not know who the people in the paintings are. Like the one that Mary knew it was a boy instead of a girl but had no idea who it was. I think the point of that was to show how pampered their lives really are - how they just take their good fortune for granted. They lived there all these years and yet never really bothered to really take a good hard look around. I feel bad for Mr. Barrow. Yes, he has not always been the best guy, but deep down he does have a heart - like how he plays with the kids and they obviously love him and how he is teaching Andrew to read but keeping it a secret so as not to embarrass Andrew. Carson has always been rather nasty towards him - he deserved it sometimes but not all the time. He is a lonely character - I felt bad for him when Carson said that even after all these years he didn't trust him.

I didn't find it all that shocking that they didn't know the subjects of every single painting in the house. Some of those are hundreds of years old and I a private home, not a museum. I would assume they could probably find out from historical archives in storage (the real house has a huge room full of documents), but honestly, I've got all kinds of family photos that will never be identified. My grandma knew, but she didn't write it down. So I still have the portraits and I know they're family but that's as far as it goes. There are portraits my grandpa painted that are going to be completely anonymous once my generation dies unless someone writes it down. I don't even know where they all are, he had a lot of kids.

I think it's always just been light-hearted drama and fun in pretty dresses set in an amazing house. And that's been fine with me, I don't think it ever pretended to be any more than that. And, oh dear heavens, do I LOVE this show. I hate that this is its final season. I rarely ever re-watch any series, but I'm sure I will this one. After this last episode, I turned to my husband and said, "This just makes me want to go dress in my fanciest clothes and have someone brush my hair." Lol.

Yes, Tiaa was perfect, and didn't we love seeing Mr. Carson being the harried housewife? Brilliant idea, Mrs. Pattmore.
And am I correct that there are only two more episodes? I shall miss it soooooo much.

Yes, only 2 more episodes. I absolutely loved the Dowager Countess' interaction with Miss Cruikshank. She had that girl's number, for sure. Even when they're disagreeing, DC is still looking out for Isobel. Love that! Tom was great in this episode, too. I hope he can talk some sense into Mary before she throws away her second chance at love.
