Instead of dumping it all, I would "shop" my stash. Go in and save what you would buy today, if you had nothing. Donate the rest. I love this suggestion. I've purged periodically over the past several years but believe its time for a serious shopping spree in my craft room this weekend. Always liberating to get rid of what is just taking up space whether it's scrap supplies or household items.

mom -- unfortunately, I haven't been using the stamps. I want to, but there's no way I'll use what I've accumulated in this lifetime and the next one, lol. I am definitely going to downsize/purge/donate. I have done it before, and when I keep up with it, an organized space. It's just too much now, and it can be overwhelming looking through it.

Oh I get it, @devildog
I went through my stamps back in late Oct/Nov and sold most of them. There were just so many. The way I tackled them was to find something online I normally would not spend money on and them use the money to buy it.

I felt this way. I think mostly cuz I was terribly disorganized. I started watching the "scrap rack" /"totally Tiffany" videos. Her organization system made sense to me, so that's how i decided to organize. Every time she runs her organization videos I watch & I joined her Facebook group. You don't have to buy her products, although I finally bought a scrap rack About a year ago- I love how it organized my doodads @devil dog.
I joke that scrapbooking is a 3 pronged hobby for me. I love to shop for the stuff. I love to organize the stuff & I love to eventually use the stuff.

I did this in other areas of my life, like clothes and books and kitchen stuff. It felt great to load up this stuff and donate it. After living in this house over 20 years, it amazes me how much life's dandruff I had stashed in this small house. And I still have loads to get rid of still.
I did go through my stamps and organize them into notebooks. I also split up the sets. It helped me get them organized into something I could use better. What didn't fit, or I wondered "why did I buy this?" - it got donated. My dies all got hung on my walls on magnetic vent covers - best thing I ever did. I use them all the time now.
It is hard for me to let go of stuff, so I pack it up and store it out of site. If I don't touch it in 6 months, then I don't need it and it's easier to pry it out of my hands.
Funny - after I donated over 5 bags of clothes in various sizes (I lost a lot of weight), I gained 20lbs back. And now I shake my head that I donated those clothes... I swear, as soon as I toss the orphaned sock, the missing mate shows up. KWIM? LOL

I've thought about the Scrap Rack but it seems like it takes up a bunch of room?

It felt really good to get rid of stuff that was just weighing me down. After I declutter the downstairs bathroom, the craft room is next on my list.

Well, I did it! I appreciate all the pea Comments and understanding. I just knew it was time to do something drastic. I took 9 totes of stuff to the local charitable thrift store today! I can see the floor in my craft room!
I feel like a huge weight has been lifted off of me.
One of my real life friends saw my post and sent me a text that sealed the deal for me. It said:
You bought it once, if you need it down the road, you can buy it again, but if it's not bringing you happiness in this moment, you should let it go.
I shared a large portion of the Martha Stewart punch collection with a stamping friend--made her day too.
Thanks y'all.

I have so much stuff, too, and I can't seem to part with any of it. The problem I have is guilt over how much money I've spent. If I knew, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that someone would use it and it wouldn't end up in the trash can, I'd give a lot of it away. I just haven't found that person to give it to yet. haha
And I've been collecting for 20 years. However, on the positive side, I do have some wonderful things by some amazing artists like Rebecca Sower, Sharon Soneff, Marah Johnson, Karen Russell, and a host of others who are no longer designing in the industry.

After I lost my scrapping space in the basement, I stored it all away and sold some in lot on a local classified FB page. At that point, I think it had been 15 years worth of stuff. I probably reduced it by half. I couldn't throw everything away! I realized I mainly use die cuts, card stock, and patterned paper, so it made the process easier. Not many people scrap anymore in my area and I had a hard time getting rid of some items like die cuts I didn't use and stamps. So, I'd just donate or free cycle unless you have a lot of one item.

When ever I get the urge to toss it all and start over, I box up everything but the essentials. I store the boxes out in the garage or another room. Taking it all down to the basics feels like I opened the windows and doors and all the oxygen comes pouring in. My mind calms down and I lose the weight and depression of 'crap every where!' syndrome. Then I see what I go out to the garage and pull out of those boxes - and how often I needed it.
About half of the stuff in the boxes ends up back in the room. The other half never gets pulled out of the boxes - and it gets donated.

I moved house late last year and have a WONDERFUL space for scrapping and crafting- apart from the fact I have far far too much stuff. I have a school opposite me and really want to pile up several boxes of stuff and donate it to them (or anyone who'd have it) I really want to craft again but the thought of sorting out boxes and boxes of cr4p first really puts me off. So, yes, I agree, ditch it and make space to start again.
