I'm not sure if I'm the only one but I'm worried that I'll run out of photos to scrap. My kids are 22 and 17 and don't let me take their pics very often and I can only take so many of the cat and dog lol What will I scrap when I've run out of old photos? Has this happened to anyone? I love scrapbooking but I'm afraid someday I just wont' have anything left to scrap I do have nieces and a nephew but they don't live close so I'd have to use their facebook pics that their mom posts and then I don't have any stories behind the photos to scrap...

My kids are older now too and they don't like to pose for pictures anymore Fortunate thing is that I'm so behind on scrapping that I really don't think I will run out of pictures..lol Recent pictures that I scrap are the vacations that my DH and I take. Working on a cruise scrapbook now.

I am so far behind and have literally thousands of pictures to scrap. I don't think I'll ever run out. I'm sure of it.

I've scrapped for years before I had a child. I always had stuff to scrapbook. Photos of me, my husband and our friends. Things we do with people. Stuff around our house. You just have to change your mindset away from the thoughts that scrapping is only about your kids. And you have to be willing to scrap about yourself.

I used to think that I would run out. But I have started to redo some of my older ones. It is my hobby and I enjoy the creativity.

I like the idea of changing your mindset Project Life, December Daily & vacation type albums may be a good place for you to start as they will help take you away from the idea that we must always scrap people (or pets.) This should keep you busy until it's time to scrap grandchildren. LOL Wishing you the very best on your new creative journey!

I have this problem, too.... And I have 12 grandchildren! I make books for each of them and I am almost out of pics right now. We also travel some so that helps. I have been out of pics before and I usually come up with some kind of project where I get some old pics printed again and do a themed album or project.

I don't think I would ever run out of photos, and if I did, I'd just beg family members for copies of their! I take way more photos than I could ever use--and get more photos printed than is necessary. I cannot help myself! I don't think I'll ever run out.

I really cannot imagine that ever happening to me. I feel like I have enough photos to scrap for decades, and my own kids aren't grown yet, so by the time they are, I'll have even more. But I am a very slow scrapper which is likely why i feel this way.

When I began scrapbooking regularly, my children were ages 35, 33, 32, and 12. At the time I had 7 grandchildren. Add 3 more grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren now. Extended family and friends are scrapped, too. I am blessed with more photos than I will ever have time to scrap:)

I get what you're saying. My kids are 19 & 20. I can't even steal photos off their FB, because they mostly do Tumblr. When the youngest graduated HS, I thought I might be done. Then DH & I went on a fabulous trip to London and Dublin. I realized that I still liked scrapbooking after doing an album of that trip.
Now instead of focusing on the kids or things we do as a family, I focus on fun stuff that I do alone or with friend or with DH. Plan some things to (big or small) so you have more stuff to scrapbook.

I take so many pictures that I will never run out of photos to scrap, especially now that I have grandkids.
I haven't scrapbooked my early life, or even the family years before I started scrapping. I have plenty to keep me busy.
If I ever did run out, I would probably start making more home decor projects with my scrappy stuff.

That's why I haven't scrapped much lately. I am about 3 LOs behind and I'm really not looking forward to one of them.

I think after the kids are grown, I'll have grand kids and maybe some time and money for some vacations, and I could always do the farm animals I'll have by then. Or I'll just do what moves me and work on more mixed media projects.
ETA* that was all said very fast without a breath....whew.

I'm mostly scrapping my niece at the moment (no kids of my own) but I always scrap my own vacations or big events. This year I also decided to start taking more everyday pics from my own life and plan to do digital PL layouts with those. As I won't be printing those, it doesn't matter how many/few photos I have. I also do a lot of card making.

I'm mostly caught up because I started scrapping a little bit before my son was born. He'll be 20 in September. I have redone his first 5 years of albums. I have redone some other random pages. Now that he's in college, he's not a willing photography subject unless it has to do with his band. I have even done a bunch of pages about me which I was never into before. Moving slowly....

I'll never run out of photos (although, there was a time when DD was 4 mo old and I thought I was caught up...how quickly that changed with digital photos!)
There is always heritage scrapbooking - Tell the family stories. With or without photos. Or, with photos of objects that go with the stories or the people who are in them. Get copies of old family photos from relatives and sit and listen to the old stories and scrap them for your extended family (it's easy to share now on sites where people can order their own copies of photo books).

My kids are 18 and 15 and although they still allow me to take lots of photos of them, I'm finding I'm taking less and less photos as they get older. A few years ago when I hosted crops in my home I started an all-about-me class. There are lots of ideas if you google 'all about me scrapbook topics'. Some pages we did - '5 random facts about me', 'favourites', '5 people I would invite to a dinner party', 'typical day', 'pet peeves', 'what's in your bag?','favourite recipe', 'bucket list', 'my first car', 'life in the 90's', 'my obsessions', 'then and now','my homes', 'earliest memory','love is...', 'books I've read'. Hope this gives you some ideas.

No...in fact I actually have cut way back in my photo taking because I have 20,000 photos waiting to be scrapped! I'm not kidding.

I thought I would at one time but I'm rather far 'behind' now. I'm without kids but still take pictures and don't have as much time to scrap them.

Our kiddo is 8 - and I'm only working on photos from when he was 6...so I'm not worried yet (that and I have photos from a few vacations that I can scrapbook when my guy is out of school.

I really don't think I will have to worry about that for quite a while. I'm 10 years behind...plus I have all my pictures before the 80s.

If you ever reach that point you'll just have to take a bunch of kick-ass vacations! In all seriousness, you could also do PL. Just document you and your day-to-day life.

I've always thought if I ever did get caught up (which is highly unlikely) I might go back & use pictures I've already scrapped in a completely different context.
For example, if I've used a pic of my kids dressed up in costumes on a layout that is all about where we went and what we did on that particular Halloween, I might go back and use that same pic on a layout where I journal about my favorite holidays & what family traditions we observe on those holidays.

I have no children, and I will never run out of material to scrapbook. Now I do admit that I take way too many pictures of my cats. However, I also have 3 decades of older photos to scrap. On top of that, I end up having pictures of myself, my husband, food, and work to scrap. My sister-in-law sends me pictures of my nieces. I've made books for them. I also have a great niece on the way! So you don't really need children to scrap!
