Now that Two Peas is gone (almost), the LSS are disappearing, and that AC is buying everything?
I already have a hard time finding cardstock locally (I know it's not the "in" thing but I use it in my Silhouette and for backgrounds). The 12 by 12 size seems to be impossible to find unless I want to buy by the sheet at Michael's (I hate that stuff Joann's sells). The way the industry is going who knows if 12 by 12 will even exist in a few years (pocket pages). The uncertainty is making me want to stock up on a few things... I'm trying not to go crazy.
Anyone else feel like the next episode of Hoarder's could soon be featuring you? "It all started in 2014 with a few packs of red cardstock and the next thing I knew I had to add an adhesive wing onto my house, my basement was filled with page protectors and I had to rent buy a storage unit to hold all my albums. It all started when Two Peas in a Bucket closed!"
I'm definitely doing more shopping lately...

I don't think the stuff will be gone, just harder to get. Maybe more expensive because it's harder to get.
Am I doing more shopping? No, but I want to.

Nope! If anything I've been downsizing.
I really haven't done much scrappy shopping except my Scraptastic kit over the past couple months and a few random things from Facebook groups.
But I also never shopped at 2 peas either. Their shipping was always way to high for me and I only live a couple hours from them. I've found a lot of smaller online stores with better prices and cheaper shopping options.

The closing of Two Peas has made me very conscious of how the industry is shrinking. I don't think it will ever completely disappear, but it may move to more of a specialty hobby. A friend points out that there are still latch hook supplies at the craft stores and that hasn't been big for decades!
One of the reasons I'm thinking of getting a Silhouette is that I would always be able to create my own embellishments.

If it's any consolation, with so many giving up the hobby, you will probably find lots of deals from people selling from their stashes.

I always feel like I'm stocking up...for what, I'm not sure. In case I can't afford to buy anymore? In case craft stores disappear? In case we have a world wide disaster and have to live like the stone age? In any case, I'm set, but I keep on stocking up (that sounds so much better than "craft hoarding"!) just in case.

Actually, no. A couple times, I've been tempted to buy stuff on-line but just never hit buy. I have a ton of stuff. I do make 100-150 pages/year. I could justify shopping, but I just don't feel like it lately.

I'm NOT stocking up (even though I understand the desire to do so!) because I think that: 1. If I go crazy buying everything now, out of concern I won't be able to shop in the future, I'll just end up throwing away/donating a tonne of stuff in the future. While I'm pretty good *now* at buying what I think I'll love for a good long time, I've found that even my tastes in basics, like white cardstock, do change. Textures I was crazy about 4 years ago, I now don't care for at all and won't use.
2. I think I'll always be able to scrapbook, even if there are no "real" scrapbooking supplies out there. Finding 12x12 paper may become more of an issue, but there will always be good quality art paper that can be cut down. At least half the reason I started scrapbooking is because it appealed to my inner hoarder, who's always loved and kept pretty little bits of paper and random buttons and paper clips and all sorts of stuff -- stuff that I now use when I scrapbook. In some ways, scrapbooking allowed me to justify those crazy desires to keep all those little bits and pieces that I never really had a purpose for.

No. The closing of 2 peas, I feel, is because of poor business and customer service not because the industry is shrinking even more.
I still have several lss, all within a 5-40 minute drive.
There are still many, many on line stores that sell products.
Yes it has downsized over the past few years but I don't fear a bigger drop in product.

I'm stocking up on white and kraft bazzill. Even the biggest store in Norway doesn't carry it anymore. I know they have ordered it, maybe it has something to do with AC aquiring bazzill? I found a few packs in a tiny store, and bought it all!

I tend to be very creative in using what I have and I am fortunate to have a wonderful local Craft/Scrapbooking store. Therefore, a possible lack of traditional scrapbooking supplies on the market does not phase me. It just provdes the opportunity to step outside of my box and play with new ideas and products that I may find.

Living at the bottom end of Africa I have never been exposed to all the hype of new stuff - no big box stores here, so I shop at a few online or local stores. I think I will make do with what I can find as always - even cheap stuff from China can make do if needs be !

I have purchased several things lately, but if anything I am trying to downsize my stash. I am creating more and shopping less. This way I can justify the new pretty things because I've been using old things.

Yes. The LSS near me just closed. When they first announced it, I figured I could always buy supplies from Two Peas. Then, soon after the LSS closing announcement, Two Peas announced their imminent demise.
I went into panic mode. I bought a ton of papers and cardstock at the LSS before they closed their doors. I spent a fortune. Then I found a new paper arts store had just opened, and I went and bought more stuff there.
I also bought albums, white cardstock, and cream cardstock from CTMH my last order (while they still had the albums I love). I figured that I can always stamp white cardstock to make my own patterned paper (which I sometimes do, anyway).
I think it has gotten to the point of being ridiculous. Hopefully my panic attack is going to subside now. DH isn't griping, but I have run out of space.

I have been stocking up on cardstock. I really like textured cardstock. I bought 2 packages at Tuesday Morning of American Crafts. I ordered 3 packages of white at scrapbooks.com, and just bought some Bazzill packs at Crafts Direct. Then I realized I am out of control! I should be good for darn near life I have decided that I hate going to Michael's and JoAnn's and trying to make the coupons work. I now just order my adhesives on Amazon.

No, I'm not stocking up. I hate that 2 peas has closed. I did the majority of my on-line shopping with. Now, I'm just ordering from different places. Never have had a LSS so I'm used to having to order to get more than just the basics.

I have been buying more lately, and even placed a 2Peas because they were closing, but it has nothing to do with a scrappy shortage panic. I just happen to buy stuff in chunks, about every two or three month, as opposed to making big purchases every month. And because, this month, I decided to start back up with my monthly kit. I think that, as long as the internet exists, I'll always be able to find my scrappy goodies. I agree that it may get a little more difficult to find a huge variety of products, but I'm hoping that the hobby itself doesn't die out anytime in the future.

I did notice at my Hobby Lobby today they are very low on 12x12 paper pads and don't have anything at all new. I don't think they will do away with scrapbooking but I do wish they would get some new stuff. It doesn't seem to me that manufacturers are coming out with as much new product as they used to. Karen

I'm not. I figure I can always find a way to make things work; I also think I have enough scrap (and crafting) supplies to last a good while.

I haven't yet, but w/the AC purchase of Bazzill, I am tempted to stock up on their cs. Of course, if they've already made the switch I'm up a creek.

I hadn't bought at 2 Peas in a while (shipping costs) and have had a couple of LSS shut up brick and mortar stores, though they're still online. I'm not really stocking up on anything. I do most of my shopping online now and generally buy every few months to make the shipping costs worthwhile. Trying to use more of what I have and save for my Christmas vacation. I know when I've bought lots of stuff in the past I've often regretted it because my tastes change and then I'm stuck with things I don't really want to use anymore.

I am. I had been trying to use up my stash this past year, so my supplies were/are low. I started scrapbooking to document my kids' lives until graduation. DS is a rising sophomore, so I want to make sure I have enough to get through the next three years. Archivers closing was traumatic enough; 2Peas closing about put me over the edge. I've already placed three orders in the past month to rebuild my stash in case the rest go under (God forbid).

I've been on a buying spree not because of two peas. I'm in the mood. I have enough of everything to not worry I too am running out of room!

Can't afford to stock up, so no. I don't like to stock up too much as my tastes and style change or else I find something else I like better.

I'm not stocking up per se, but if I find 12x12 AC cardstock packs I buy them, whether I need them or not.

No, I'm not shopping anymore than usual. I feel I have enough stash to last 2 lifetimes with the exception of maybe adhesive. I think we may see more companies fold in the future but there will always be a means to scrapbook.
