Well, I was just over at the old site - which is still up, at least in some capacity (what's up with that? Wasn't the site supposed to disappear today?) - and could still access old bookmarked threads. I came across one I had saved from 2003 -2004 with lots of song lyrics for scrapbook layouts.
I thought it might be fun now 10-11 years later to see what songs people have used or would like to use on layouts. I'll start. I used Dar Williams' "The One Who Knows" on a page about my kids.
Time it was I had a dream And you're that dream come true An' if I had the world to give I'd give it all to you
I'll take you to the mountains I will take you to the sea I'll show you how this life became A miracle to me
You'll fly away but take my hand until that day So when they ask how far love goes When my job's done you'll be the one who knows
All the things you treasure most Will be the hardest won I will watch you struggle long Before the answers come
But I won't make it harder I'll be there to cheer you on I'll shine the light that guides you down The road you're walking on
You'll fly away but take my hand until that day So when they ask how far love goes When my job's done you'll be the one who knows
Before the mountains call to you Before you leave this home Wanna teach your heart to trust As I will teach my own
But sometimes I will ask the moon Where it shined upon you last And shake my head and laugh and say "It all went by so fast"
You'll fly away, but take my hand until that day (Until that day) So when they ask how far love goes When my job's done you'll be the one who knows

I've never heard of that song - it's so nice!
The only ones I've used are in my Christmas albums. Because I do an album for each yea, I often end up w/one page layouts w/nothing to put on the facing page. I started printing song lyrics & decorating the page w/ Christmas embellishments to fill out the book. So far I've used It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year (twice, by accident - gonna have to change that one) & Hang Up Yout a Stocking.
Not very thrilling use of lyrics, I'm afraid.

I've used Peaceful, Easy feeling from the Eagles on a layout about lying in a hammock in Fiji and I did an entire layout based on the song 100 years by Five for Fighting about how time is passing by. I also used In the living years by Mike and the Mechanics on a layout about my dad which I love because it included a picture of us towards the end of his life and the journaling talked about our sometimes bumpy relationship over the years. Pussycat, Pussycat I love you from Burt Bacharach on a kitten page.
It's a great question, next time I look through my books I'm going to make a list. I'm pretty sure I have used lots more. Will definitely watch this thread to see what other people come up with.

I used the lyrics to "At Last" sung by Etta James in our honeymoon pages. It was our first dance song.

I like this idea! That's a great way to fill up some otherwise empty spaces. I think I would do that when trying to separate years in the Christmas album. Thanks!

Corinne The Eagles song was a great idea for a hammock layout!
10 yrs ago it seemed everyone was using "I Hope you Dance". I remember seeing that on about every other LO in the gallery!

I've used Days Go By by Keith Urban for one of my motorcycle layouts. It was perfect for a bike page.
I have also used One More Day by Diamond Rio on a page when I went thru cancer. I kept that song in the back of my mind during that journey. My layout is a pic of my sweet husband and me together. I could never had made it thru treatments without him.
This is a good post. I love music.

There are some great ideas here! I'm definitely going to try to do that more - especially when I am having trouble coming up w/journaling or a title.
Those empty spaces were driving me NUTS! While most of my books are one book for one year, I do have one that is of all the photos from my own childhood til when I had kids. I didn't think about doing it to separate the years, so thank you!

I don't usually use all the lyrics to a song except for school this year because I rewrote the words to Frozen's "Let it Go" as our Pre-K graduation anthem, "Let Me Go", and the parents begged for a copy of the lyrics. For personal scrapping, I usually do titles or snippets that have become cliches at home: The Rolling Stone's "You can't always get what you want", and Bob Marley's "every little thing gonna be all right", etc.

"Where Are You Going?" "Turn Around"'s popularity was boosted by its use as the theme for a memorable Kodak television commercial.
Where are you going, my little one, little one, Where are you going, my baby, my own? Turn around and you're two, Turn around and you're four, Turn around and you're a young girl going out of my door. Turn around, turn around, Turn around and you're a young girl going out of my door.
Where are you going, my little one, little one, Little dirndls and petticoats, where have you gone?2 Turn around and you're tiny, Turn around and you're grown, Turn around and you're a young wife with babes of your own. Turn around, turn around, Turn around and you're a young wife with babes of your own.

I have used them on layouts. But use them more often in art journaling. I have one journal dedicated to songs that move me - mostly Christian songs.
I always meant to check out your scripture challenges, Patter. Have to put it on the to do list for when life settles after the move.

When you Wish Upon a Star
When you wish upon a star Makes no difference who you are Anything your heart desires Will come to you
If your heart is in your dream No request is too extreme When you wish upon a star As dreamers do
Fate is kind She brings to those who love The sweet fulfillment of Their secret longing
Like a bolt out of the blue Fate steps in and sees you through When you wish upon a star Your dreams come true
Fate is kind She brings to those who love The sweet fulfillment of Their secret longing
Like a bolt out of the blue Fate steps in and sees you through When you wish upon a star Your dreams come true

Precious by Depeche Mode. I used some of the lyrics on a layout about ds' stay in the NICU. Since pbotobucket is annoying me, here is a link: Lyrics LayoutPrecious and fragile things Need special handling My God what have we done to you We always tried to share The tenderest of care Now look what we have put you through Things get damaged Things get broken I thought we'd manage But words left unspoken Left us so brittle There was so little left to give Angels with silver wings Shouldn't know suffering I wish I could take the pain for you If God has a master plan That only He understands I hope it's your eyes He's seeing through Things get damaged Things get broken I thought we'd manage But words left unspoken Left us so brittle There was so little left to give I pray you learn to trust Have faith in both of us And keep room in your hearts for two Things get damaged Things get broken I thought we'd manage But words left unspoken Left us so brittle There was so little left to give

I used "Sugar, Sugar" by the Archies ... WAY dating myself here! I think it was for my DGD's Halloween layout a few years ago. She had a ridiculous amount of candy.

Patter, I'd love more information on your Scripture Challenge - is it hosted here? This year we are doing contemporary Christian songs so I cannot put the music on my pages like I have in years' past. Basically I host a challenge on my blog 2x a month. I have been doing this since 2009 if I remember correctly. Anyway, one year I did ATC cards, and for the past several years I make 6x6 albums. You can see details on several years' postings here. Let me know if you have questions after looking around. There is a lot to see, read, and study. 2013 Hymn and Scripture Challenge2012 Hymn and Scripture Challenge2014 Scripture Lessons and Lyrics

My DH sang the Beatles song "Here, There and Everywhere" at our wedding reception. For our 30th anniversary layout, I added the lyrics. LinkMy son and I danced to "Teach Your Children" at his wedding, used that for the layout about the dance. LinkUsed "Your Smiling Face" on a layout about my sweet little grandson: LinkI also used "Turn Around" for a layout when my DD got married. Now she's a mom, so I should probably update it and add the part about having babes of her own! Link

Great idea to add titles of songs and/or lyrics to a page. Sometimes I'm at a lost on how to journal a photo and this will be an easy solution. TFS!!

Lullabye (Goodnight my Angel) Billy Joel"Lullabye (Goodnight, My Angel)" Goodnight, my angel Time to close your eyes And save these questions for another day I think I know what you've been asking me I think you know what I've been trying to say I promised I would never leave you And you should always know Wherever you may go No matter where you are I never will be far away Goodnight, my angel Now it's time to sleep And still so many things I want to say Remember all the songs you sang for me When we went sailing on an emerald bay And like a boat out on the ocean I'm rocking you to sleep The water's dark And deep inside this ancient heart You'll always be a part of me Goodnight, my angel Now it's time to dream And dream how wonderful your life will be Someday your child may cry And if you sing this lullabye Then in your heart There will always be a part of me Someday we'll all be gone But lullabyes go on and on... They never die That's how you And I Will be I used it on a layout about my dd sleeping (yeah, real original, I know)
