No, he used to travel frequently at his former job, and we used to work opposite shifts, so we slept apart quite frequently. I have a lot more trouble sleeping without my cat, who has been sharing a bed with me for almost 13 years. he's like a furry xanax.

I do not sleep well when DH is gone. Luckily he doesn't travel much. He spent 10 days in Europe. I didn't huger even 1/2 the sleep I needed. Starbucks knew me very well during that time!

I love having the bed to myself. It's one of the reasons I go to bed earlier than he does. I get to stretch out and take up as much space as I want. As far as feeling safe when he's not home, I have 2 kids and a dog. It's not like I'm truly alone.

Yes, I do. Not because I'm scared without him. I just miss his presence in bed with me. I often reach over during the night just to place my hand on his arm or shoulder. When he's not there, the bed is very empty.
He used to travel quite a bit for work, Monday thru Friday. Two weeks away, one week home. One year he was gone more than he was home. When the economy tanked several years ago, he stayed home more because clients weren't willing to pay travel expenses. He can work from home just as easily. He hasn't been on the road since July of last year, and that was the only time in 2013.
I'm good with that.

I always assume I might have trouble, but then I end up sleeping like a rock. No snoring, me thinks!

I do for the first night. Not because I am scared. I, too, have a dog who would alert me and more likely than not scare anyone away. My DH is a snuggler and a spooner. It takes me a night or two to get used to having him gone and getting the pillows just right. He hates in when he comes home, because I get used to taking up the whole bed - lying diagonally across it.

Nope, prefer my bed Independence. Can't stand to have anyone near me when I sleep, it is my peaceful bubble and I like it that way.
I have no issues if he is not home which is rarely, except having to take out the trash. I am away most often and I think he enjoys the respite.
We have a king bed and a medium dog who sleeps between us and creates a neutral zone, works out well.

Well, I'd rather have him here with me, but occasionally he does go somewhere, camping or hunting, overnight. I usually don't have any trouble sleeping here alone, but I am fortunate to live in a relatively safe part of the country. Also have a BIG German Shepherd dog, she would let me know about anything out of the ordinary.
Dh and ds have gone west to Utah to visit his family a few times over the years, and were gone for close to two weeks each time. I stayed home to look after things on the farm and so they could have some Father/Son bonding time. Also, they camped in the truck enroute - so not my thing! I did just fine on my own, in fact, felt pretty self-reliant 'til they got home. But fortunately I didn't have any trouble with the cattle herd, that was my biggest worry. Everybody stayed where they were supposed to stay and nobody had any veterinary issues, thank goodness!

I don't have issues, but DH works overnight at a hospital, so I sleep alone as much as I do with him

I sleep better because I can hog the whole bed... Fortunately that's 5 nights out of the week because he works graveyard... I usually pick at him on his days off by telling him that he needs to go to work so I can have the bed

Yes, I do. I have gotten so used to him holding me while I fall asleep that when he's not there, I have a terrible time falling asleep. It surprises me how I got so acclimated to sleeping with him. Exhusband worked nights so we never slept together. I slept alone all the time. Now I hate to sleep alone.

In a word, no. I love the absence of snoring and farting. In total agreement and I couldn't say it more eloquently than this.

I love it when I get the bed to myself for a night. DH is military, and used to do 24 hour standby shifts on base. When he stopped doing them, he was pleased but I was not I usually go to bed before him, but he never fails to wake me up when he comes to bed at whatever time it is. So when he's not about I sleep through without fail, and feel so much better the next day!

No. My DH travels a lot, and I have amazing sleeps when I'm alone. He snores a little, and I'm a super-light sleeper.

I always have trouble the first night he's gone, but usually sleep okay after that, probably from sheer exhaustion. Last night DH was away, and my DS (14) was at his last night of camp, so it was only me and DD (11) in the house, which was very unusual. Only slept about 4 hours, then had to get up early to drive to camp and pick up DS. I'm betting I'll sleep better tonight. DH returns tomorrow. Lisa B.

Yes, I do. I toss and turn and wake up frequently. Thankfully, he isn't gone very often (maybe once a year).

I don't sleep well without OSDP, either. He occasionally has to travel overnight for work, and I have a real hard time falling asleep. Oddly enough though, I sleep very well in that hour he's up before I am in the mornings.

Nope! Usually sleep right in the middle of the bed (on a diagonal, no less). My husband has been in law enforcement since we married nearly 14 years ago. He's had a variety of shift work that included graves for portions of his career. I'm used to sleeping alone and sometimes see it as a treat to spread out, and read as late as I want with the light on (which bothers him).

Quite the opposite. I work night shift, my boyfriend works days. We do not sleep in the same bed 5/7 nights. I sleep better alone. Those 2 nights a week I'm home I don't sleep well at all with the snoring and apnea breathing and tossing and turning and farting all night. Going on vacation for a week together...and dreading every minute of it.

I can sympathize. I don't even live with my guy - and really barely spend the night with him - it totally depends on kid visitation, but I sleep horribly when he is out of town. I joke that I'm like the dog and can't settle down if all my people aren't where they're supposed to be. LOL
