So, like so many of us, I have what I consider to be a decent-sized stash of scrapbook supplies. Recently I got rid of a fair bit of things that I knew I wouldn't be using and felt good about that. That said, while scrapping the other day I did think about how glad I was to have a good bit of paper to pull from. I have paper that I purchased without any plans of how I would use it and I am using it. It might take me a year, but it's getting used. I also like having a good supply of embellishments to pull from. Except, I'm in desperate need of enamel dots. I only have one sheet of those.
I guess my feelings about my stash have to do with the way I scrap. I usually don't have a set plan of what I'm going to work on. I just scrap whatever I'm in the mood for at that time. I also order most of my scrap stuff on-line so I usually will get a decent amount every time I place an order instead of picking up a few things here and there.
How do you feel about your stash? Do you like having a good selection of supplies or do you prefer to stay more minimal? Do you purchase supplies as needed, or do you buy things without a plan for how you will use it?

I feel good about my stash. I have enough paper to last for years. I don't have a lot of embellishments but that's ok because I don't use a lot of embellishments. I'm a simple scrapper. I don't buy a lot these days because I am teetering on the edge of feeling like my stash is overwhelming instead of feeling like I have a lot of choices and knowing what those choices are. These days I only buy things that are great deals or the basics like adhesive and cardstock. Occasionally I will order a few things online or stop by a LSS that's about 20 minutes away. But for the most part I don't think about shopping much. I'm happy to use my stash and that's great because for a long time I was only motivated to scrap if I had something new to work with.

I like having a good selection in front of me. I pick things up when I see them on sale, or when I have a good coupon at one of the big stores. I've been buying things online lately -- it takes a while to figure out what it will look like in real life, but I think I'm getting the hang of it.
I was looking through my current project and picking up papers and embellishments that I thought might go together -- it's a school album but I don't want to be too "schooly" if you know what I mean.
I like to pull out everything under the sun and play with it for a long time before I settle on what I'm going to use. I have a hard time putting things together.

I love my scrap stash! My favorite part of scrapbooking, is shopping my own supplies and pulling for a project or layout. I buy cardstock in bulk, so I will never run out, and if I love an item I buy more than one.
My studio is my dream space & I love all the goodies inside!

I love my stash, I used to think I had WAAAAY too much paper. I learned today though, that I have such a hard time with finishing touches on pages because I have hardly any die cuts, stickers, and embellies! So I think it's good to have a lot to choose from, and now I don't feel bad about how much paper I have. Shoot, I might go buy more!

I love my stuff. I pulled out a bunch of really old things to purge that I know I won't miss but I do like having a lot to pick from. I hoard digital cutting files too. I spent the better part of last year unpacking a lot of my stuff and sorting through it to decide what to keep and what to get rid of, but I still have a lot of work to do. I look forward to getting the rest organized better so I can find what I want when I need it. I usually have an idea for something when I buy it, but I'm not opposed to buying something I don't have earmarked for a specific project if it's fun and I think I could come up with something I could use it on.

I really like my stash. I feel like I have a good mix of supplies that lets me works on the types of projects I create without needing to run out and buy more stuff but it's not so much that its overwhelming. I mostly know what I have although my stash still contains the odd surprise now and then. I don't worry about not having a stack of paper 5 feet tall (even though sometimes I think that might be nice!), the couple of inches I have is about the right amount for me.
I buy with a vague idea of what I might use the supplies for but rarely with specific photos in mind. Sometimes I end up using the supplies the way I planned but sometimes not. I mostly buy things I really like in colours or patterns that I realistically think I will use. If I really love a design (or it turns out to be a lot more versatile than I first thought) I have no qualms buying multiples. I have a topographic print in shades of blue where I bought at least a dozen sheets.

I love it. I appreciate being able to scrapbook whenever I have a few minutes and know I have the supplies at hand. With DH's health issues, we often have days he doesn't feel up to leaving the house. I have my hobby to enjoy ij those days.
Right now, I know I have more than I really have space for, so I started a frozen thread.

I feel pretty good about my stash. I just moved and have de-cluttered a little as I unpacked. I really like most of the things I have. I could probably get rid of some more things but i am ok with having some "extra". I really need to go through my project life cards and giveaway some of those. Beyond that, I am good with what I have. I am not buying much as I haven't seen much new that I love and I have plenty. It is nice to have options.

I feel pretty good about my stash. I did have a declutter last year and got rid of stuff I didn't think I'd ever use. I probably still have too much stuff, but it is nicer having a few options when it comes to scrapping. I have a big project on at the moment and when I've made some progress with that I'll have a better idea about how much of my stash I'll use this year.

I love my stash and craft room. I'm currently purging so much stuff. I have purged about 20 DCWV paper stacks. I was obsessed with buying all the new ones a few years ago . But now they aren't my style so I finally just got rid of them. Feels so good to let go of them and not hold onto them just because.

I'm another one who loves her stash! I've stopped buying stuff "just because" and only buy what I like. I do belong to Scraptastic and get a kit and usually an add on every month but I think I'm gonna stop that subscription soon. The kits are piling up and while I'll use them, I'm just not scrapping a lot right now.
I de-stashed last summer and went through my paper and supplies and made kits. Stored everything in those Cropper Hopper Page Arrangers so all I have to do is find a paper I like for those photos I wanna scrap and the embellishments/stickers are there too.

I have good and bad feelings about my stash. I love my paper. I will never give that up. But I feel like it's all over the place, so I need to get it all in one place to love it. I have bad feelings about my embellishments though. I seem to have a bunch of product that I don't even like. I think they are remnants from the days I used to go into Big Lots and buy those huge scrapbooking packs that had random things in them. Ugh. Once I get rid of all of that stuff I think I will love my stash again.

I love my stash, because if I get to a point where I can't get any new supplies, I can still scrap. I have lots of stuff I'm not fond of that could be just the thing when I can't get anything else.
I also hate my stash because I can't find what I want when I need it right now. I am currently searching for some ice paper I know I have and I have some photos I got it for, but I can't find it right now. I have gone through stacks of paper but no luck yet.
When it is eventually organized, I will only love it again.

I like my stash but still feel I have too much. I recently purged a lot and tried to keep only that which I think I would use today.
This past week I organized my dies. It's so nice to be able to go to a category and find exactly what I need. Much less frustration.

Except, I'm in desperate need of enamel dots. This is me, currently. I use enamel dots liberally, but then I get low very quickly. How do you feel about your stash? Do you like having a good selection of supplies or do you prefer to stay more minimal? Do you purchase supplies as needed, or do you buy things without a plan for how you will use it? I like my stash, but I think it has some holes, like needing more enamel dots. I'm not sure if I could really call my stash minimal, though by pea standards it absolutely is. I like to have a variety to select from. I both buy supplies as needed, and buy things without a plan for them. But I only ever buy things that I love.

It's an ongoing process. I still occasionally find a package of something and toss it in the donate box. I feel much better about keeping just what I love.

This is a good topic!
I'm currently pretty happy with my stash. I went through stuff before and after we moved here, plus did a big reorganization this time last year when I had the closet in my scrap room designed to hold what I needed in there. So I have touched everything in there multiple times over the last few years and evaluated it as a keep!
After doing that, and getting back into scrapping pretty heavily, I noticed I had holes in my stash. Mainly, I was lacking a good selection of little-boy friendly papers and embellishments. Like I had pretty much none! So I started acquiring that sort of thing as it was released or as I found it at good prices at Tuesday Morning, online sales, etc.
Since doing that, it is MUCH easier to sit down and scrap, having paper that works for the colors and themes of my photos of DS.
Then a few weeks ago I was making stacks of birthday cards to replenish my stash of them, and noticed I really, really need some new birthday-type sentiment stamps. So I'm on the hunt to get those whenever I see some that will work for me.
I do buy paper and goodies as I see them, knowing they will work for specific photos or project as well. But now that I have a good "base" stash of stuff, I'm a bit pickier in what I purchase.
It also helps me to get my Boy Crazy and Generations (mostly themed & seasonal papers) kits through Scrapbook Generations. I tend not to purchase a line right away (especially the boy ones), because there's a good chance it will be in the boy kit, and then it's all designed and ready to scrap! They tend to use papers that I love for my dude, like Echo Park & Simple Stories. If I don't end up getting one of those lines I have my eye on in a kit, I know I can order it. So there's not so much of a "must buy all the papers now" kind of feeling for me when new stuff hits the shelves.
For example, I had my eye on MME "Happy Camper" during this most recent release and I saw that SG is using it for the Feb. Boy Crazy kit. YAY! I'll get a taste of it in there, use it up when I make the kit layouts, and most likely won't feel the need to buy more. It definitely helps me pull in the spending.

I agree with Alissa, this is a good topic! I purge quite often and I'm feeling the urge to purge right now, especially my themed supplies. I used to have way more paper than I have now but I do love the paper I have now. I actually have more embellishments now than paper. I feel like if worse came to worse and I couldn't get new stuff, I could just make layouts on 8.5x11 white cardstock using photos, sticker and words. I could do that and be happy. I don't use my stamps as I should but I use most of what I own on a regular basis.

I really love my stash. I only buy what I truly love and that means for the past year, it's mainly been cardstock, adhesive, and decorated brads. Years ago, I did a major reorganization and purged what I didn't truly love and what didn't fit my style. I still have quite a bit of product so I shop my stash and use whatever inspires me. And as I've been using things up (like spray mists and certain colors of ink) I am not replacing the items.
I no longer feel guilty for getting rid of the remains of a 25-pack after using only 4 sheets: I donate the 21 left and it's all good. I've been donating the leftovers to a Girl Scout troop, a VBS, a pediatric hospital waiting room, and even a mission to Costa Rica that needed school and art supplies. Instead of purging, I'd like to think of it as sharing.
I love what I've got but it took awhile to get to this point. I had to let go and have less to enjoy it more, if that makes sense.

I love my stash! It's huge, but I love having options. It makes me more creative to have a lot to choose from. On the other hand, it takes a lot of time to find the 'perfect' things for a project so I make kits from my stash. It makes scrapping my stash quick and easy. I just sent out February's colors to my email list, along with a special Valentine's combo. And if you're a member of Big Picture Classes, you can follow my stash kitting class there.

I also love my stash and my room.
DH walks in and tells me "You will never use this up in your entire lifetime " and I tell him, "Using it up is not mu goal"
He talks about retiring to Montana or someplace similar ... you know it snows in Montana? Like really snows where you can be snowed in...so I figure during those periods of time, I will be happily buried in my stash, crafting away to my heart's content.

Well, since the scrapping stores closed, and the paper arts store (which has some scrapping supplies) is a ways away, I am really glad that I have such a big stash.
Packing it for moving has been a big pain, though, but I still am glad to have it.

I love my stash. I scrap exactly the way you do. I have to shop my stash whenever I am making a layout. I purchase everything ahead of time and then find photos to go with it later.
Now that Basic Grey will no longer be in the paper business, I am even more thankful for my "hoard."

I love my stash and did what I thought was a big purge a year and a half ago when we moved but am starting to feel overwhelmed and am doing another big purge. Basically stuff I never should have moved is getting purged. I am purging old papers and projects I hoped to do but figure if I haven't done them by now I most likely never will. I am keeping some but I have more than I will ever do. I am also doing a mega purge of ribbon and raw chipboard. Most of the stuff I am purging is 10 years old or close to it. I figure if I am no longer seeing these projects I will let go of the guilt if not finishing them and also I will be able to find what I need for current projects. My goal is to purge a lot more than I have purchased this last year thanks to posts here about Tuesday Morning and Marshals that I didn't have access to before the move.
I think you can make awesome pages with a small stash or a large stash you just need to figure out what works best for you. I think sometimes it takes a while to figure out what you will use and what you won't and then of course your style changes over the years.

-I have too much stash. way too much -I prefer having more than less so I have lots of options. -I love my stash because lots of it, they are not making anymore -I don't buy with a project specific plan. I know I will be able to use it in the future

I went nuts when Scenic Route went out of business and still haven't used it all. I still love it though and haven't purged any of it.

I don't think I would consider scrapbooking my hobby...at least not my primary one. I consider my first one to be a shopper...more formally a scrapbook supply collector. Second is an organizer, I absolutely love making my stash look pretty. After that finally comes actually using it. My hope is to become more prolific when all of my kids are in school and the house is quieter.
