Food truck: Shark Pit. The grilled corn is amazing!!!!
For the poster asking about snorkeling tours: Trilogy. We have done two trips with them and had a great time. Their service was top notch.

Funny, just had written a post needing help with my Maui trip. Then I saw this thread. I need advice on the best Molokini snorkeling tour, Ziplining, Luau, and Whale watching. I bought the maui revealed book but I am wary and want the peas opinions. Trip advisor isn't helping because it seem everything is awesome. Jen For whale watching I highly recommend Gemini Sailing Charters. They were absolutely amazing. Felt safe and comfortable. Had great information and we had the most amazing competition pod of whale action making for great photos and memories. The entire crew is fantastic and we plan to make that one of our first activities when we go back. Maui is like a magical land of serenity for me. I have an intense fear of high windy roads and loved every minute of our Road to Hana trip! Highly recommend leaving very early and taking your time to plan out the spots you'd like to see. We drove ourselves so we could do as we pleased instead of being at the mercy of a tour company shuttle however I've heard good things about the bus tours. Our second trip to Maui we took in the sunrise stop Halekala and it was akin to a choir of angels singing amazing grace to me. I wanted to weep and weep. I'd love to go again the next time we go. If you do arrive well before sunrise and bring a parka and a couple layers and a hotel blanket. I'm from Canada, we were freezing even though we thought we'd dressed warmly. The Minnesota group beside us couldn't believe how cold it was. They did not come prepared. Lol I have so many great memories that I could go on and on from our trips but you've already got a lot of great ideas in this thread. Have a wonderful time. It's truly my happy place and if our Canadian dollar wasn't the shits we'd be planning our next trip out to Maui.

It's truly my happy place and if our Canadian dollar wasn't the shits we'd be planning our next trip out to Maui. Exactly that. DH and I had planned on going back in September. We had decided to stay at the Andaz this time, as we love Wailea. And then our dollar kept falling and falling. The trip is off now. Who knows how long our dollar will take to rebound, because it's not cheap going to Maui, and I certainly am not going to be adding 40% on to the cost of a vacation just to make up the exchange rate!!

So jealous!
We stayed at Honua Kai 2 years ago in an apartment with kitchen and really loved it! We too spent 10 days in June. Weather was beautiful. I took my umbrella because everyone told me to, but I never needed it. We just stayed at Honua Kai this past June. I rented our condos through VRBO and we loved it. It's a beautiful, family friendly property. If you are interested I can pass on the units/property manager's name as she was really nice to work with. We did a lot while we were there, but sunrise at Haleakala and snorkeling out at Molokini are two things I'd recommend. This is the boat we went on (go in the morning as the water gets choppy later): www.sailtrilogy.com/tour/molokiniI want to go back to Maui with just dh but stay on the other side of the island.

Mama's Fish House is a must! Make a reservation using the Open Table app. If you make one for lunch right when they open and get there a little early, you will have prime ocean view seating. They have their own beach. Menu changes based on what the fisherman bring in. Had some sashimi that we were told was still swimming in the ocean an hour ago! StarNoodle is also amazing! Go off peak hours to avoid long waits.

We flew over from Honolulu just to take the Road to Hana tour. It was interesting. I definitely wouldn't drive where there's no coverage. It's one crazy road. We enjoy those types of tours as it's a way to see a lot of the island and learn about it.
Have fun!

Valley Isle Tours is great. More like a mini bus with comfy seats, big windows and great lunch. The other tours used passenger vans and served sandwiches. We got a sit down lunch.
If you are going to do any cooking, bring any seasonings you like from home. Much cheaper and less wasteful.

Thank you so much! I'm adding a lot to my list for further research.
Has anyone been to Molokai or Lanai?

We stayed on Lanai a couple years ago for 5 nights. Are you going for a day trip? There really is not a lot to do there. That's why celebrities stay there because they are left alone. If you are going for the day, the best thing we did was rented a jeep and drove to the top of the island-Garden of the Gods-and to other beaches that you can't get to by car. The view at the top was amazing! There is also nothing to do in their tiny town and not many places to eat. As for Molokai, my son has a friend who lives there, and it is definitely a native/local island and they don't really like outsiders there.

We always stay in Kaanapali. If you plan on hiking a good book is Day Hikes on Maui. (We also have the one for Kauai). Lots of hikes for different levels - easy, moderate, strenuous. Lahaina is good for walking around and touristy shopping and there is a Safeway grocery store. Going to Hana takes the entire day because the road is slow and windy. Stop at turnouts and go on short hikes. Take a lunch and snacks with you. There is only one restaurant in Hana (at least when we were there). When you get to Hana don't turn around. Keep going and visit the other side of Haleakala National Park. You can hike through a real rain forest (you will get wet!) of dense bamboo and end up at the Pools at Ohe'o. Absolutely unforgettable. Although it is not handicap friendly. As for restaurants, it's really expensive so we usually eat breakfast and lunch in the condo and splurge on dinner. ETA: After reading what Nanner wrote. Yes, the rental car is NOT covered after the blow hole past Kapalua. We did it anyway and there was only one area that was sketchy and we had to maneuver around fallen boulders. Once past those it was beautiful farming land. (we wouldn't do it again though) On the Hana drive, you can go to the pools I mentioned, but past that it is prohibited. The hike to Ohe'o Falls (Seven Sacred Pools) is one of my FAVORITE hikes ever. So worth it.
I like Mama's Fish House for upscale dining and Pa'ia Fish Market for casual dining.
