IF I'd had more money on Black Friday, I WOULD have bought some FiestaWare at my local Humane Society Thrift Store. IF they'd split it into single colors, I might have anyway. Pink, Turquoise, a yellow and a green where what they had and all mixed up. I think 4 sets and they also had mixed up sets with the sugar bowls and teapots. But we were saving money for the next payday when I get almost everything in my cart for 25% off. It was sure tempting but I really don't have room for more dishes, there are only two of us and I have everything I've found that is Corelle Shadow Iris and that includes teapots and placemats. The year before, I DID luck out on that for the FIRST time, I found Shadow Iris at the thrift store. I DID get those extra dishes! I WOULD like a 2 place setting of either pink, purple or turquoise just for special occasions and maybe a few matching accessories. My finds in the last year at thrift stores is my first (but not my last) Ottlite. I got the craft caddy Ottlite at the thrift store (that benefits the local women's shelter) for $8. I've since bought more on sale! I've got a few rubber stamps, a die IN the package, sequins, a TON of orange cardstock for $2, a couple of scrapbooking books, several brand new scrapbook albums. I got what I'd been looking for, an old fashioned kitchen chair with the flip out steps, a cute wood and tile southwest table/counter, a great metal and tile (found out later it is a plant holder) stand that is great for my water dispenser and many others!

I went to the thrift store today with my daughter and LOL'd when I saw this vinyl album. I bought it solely by judging it's cover! My son thinks it's cool he now has a record player. I'm going to give it to him to add to his collection. I can't wait to see his face. Bonnie Phipps, Autoharpin!

Some of you have had some great finds. After finding nothing for the past couple of months, I scored last week with a stack of Christmas stocking kits, mostly counted cross stitch. I also picked up a like new copy of one of Thomas Keller's cookbooks - Ad Hoc at Home - for just $5! The cover price is $50, so I was quite happy with that find. For the Fiesta lovers/collectors, you were the first people I thought of tonight when I ran across this fabric. It from Quilting Treasures' Salsa line and is called Fiestaware Pottery Vignettes. How cute would this be made up into some curtains or a tablecloth!

Dh brought this home for me a few weeks ago. I remember wanting this when it was in the Bombay store, but it was around $75. Bombay desktop writing deskI took calligraphy in college and even bought a cool pen and ink set at a chateau in France. I've been looking for a cool way to hold those items on a desk. Dh and I really want an antique secretary. His grandparents had one, and he loved it. I've always loved Chippendale style furniture. Antique secretary

HLC made another post86 solid color dishes line using the fiesta colors of yellow, persimmon, juniper and cobalt. It is discontinued now, but the line name was Colours. It was made as a grocery store premium (give-a-way with purchase, or you collect points to buy them). The line was also sold at the HLC outlet store. If you post a picture, I can tell you if your dishes are from that line.

I used to love going into the Bombay Company stores and browsing. Their style really meshed with mine back then. What a great find for you after all these years. On a similar vein, does anyone know of things to do with those old silverware storage boxes? I've seen a couple at the thrift store recently and wondered what could be done with them. Some of them are really pretty, and typically the prices are under $10.

I saw a gorgeous, deep silverware chest at a thrift store and was going to buy it, rip out the innards, and put it on my husband's chest (of drawers!) to contain all his random stuff and nonsense. 'Course, I did the classic went-home-to-think-about-it and it was gone the next day. I would have just left the inside ugly (post-rip out), but just now I googled "repurpose silverware chest box" and went to Images. Lots there; looks like some tutorials on relining with fabric, too. (You have extra fabric, right? ) You could use it for a sewing box, crafts box, jewelry box... I was recently searching for something in the back of a cabinet and found the odd little Colours mugs I'd stashed back there and forgotten. I picked them up and stared at them for a few seconds and then hid them again!

DH collects boxes and has way to much cr@p stashed away in them, but I think one could be good for squirreling away things in my sewing room or on my desk. I just now checked out the ideas on Pinterest. There are some great ideas there as well, especially for redoing the exterior. Of course now that I think I'd like to try my hand at refurbishing one there won't be a single one to be had!

Made a quick stop at the thrift store today and made several really good finds! I've been looking for a lazy-susan for my dining table. It is a 60" round and so a little difficult to reach the center. Any larger lazy-susans were really pricey so I've had my eye out at the thrift stores. Today I lucked out and found one in the perfect size for just $20! My plan is to chalk paint it to match the table pedestal and the buffet. Should be a quick project. On my way to the car, I noticed they were having a sidewalk sale of boutique items where nothing was over $12.99. So I dropped stuff in the car and went back to check it out. It's a good thing I did because I found a jacket and a dress for DD. She loves Classiques Entier, but finds the line too expensive normally. There was a beautiful brownish gray dress, as well as a belted jacket for just $7.99 each! New these would have been at least $275 each. A quick trip to the dry cleaners and she has a couple more things to wear to work.

I'm so envious of the awesome finds the Peas share here! I rarely find anything but overpriced junk at the thrift stores in my area.

Just a FYI. With Monday being President 's Day, our Goodwill's locally are advertising that most everything (except the crap from Target) will be 50% off.
Might want to check your local GW.

In my neck of the woods, Goodwill seems to put all complete Pyrex sets in the 50's/60's colors in the online auction. I generally ever see singleton Pyrex pieces on the shelves. However, if your local thrift store isn't a Goodwill or if it doesn't follow the protocol of my local stores, maybe you have a chance! I'd be thrilled for you; turquoise is one of the colors I always hope to find.

Here are two things I found today: an Alice in Wonderland pint glass for $0.99 (I stuck a napkin in it so you can see the illustration more clearly--flamingo croquet.) I'm a big Alice in Wonderland fan and I hoped to find the rest of the set, but nope. I also found a Pyrex Bluebird promotional casserole dish with no lid for $4.99. I'm keeping an eye out for a 1.5 quart oval lid now, but I don't care that it's missing. It's in very nice shape otherwise.

What a great find at a great price! A victory moment! Are you going to post a photo?
I've found quite a few good vintage and non-vintage things lately, but Photobucket is being temperamental and it stopped allowing me to upload new photos. So, here are two things I was able to add before things went south.
Three Hazel Atlas tumblers and three bowls for $2.99 each. Not ultra bargain prices, but in my favorite color and worth it to me. I found the tumblers at one store and the bowls the next day at another store. It made me wonder if yet another store had one more tumbler and one more bowl, but I'm happy with three. There were three kids in my family and I know my mom would have bought just three of each item, so these made me think of her.
A Hawaiian tiki photo album for $2.98. I don't think it's vintage, but I poked around Etsy and Ebay and found similar "natural materials" albums listed as both vintage and new, but none of this design. It's a mystery. I'm not sure if I'll keep it or pass it on to a passionate tiki lover.
My sister is coming to visit next week and she is a thrifting aficionado so I'm hoping for some good expeditions. That's the tiki from the Brady Bunch when they went to Hawaii!!! lol... just kidding!!
