Well I got fired yesterday. I am in shock and disbelief. I admit I made a few mistakes along the way, nothing that would end the world but nothing I would do again.. I learned from my mistake. But guess 2nd chances doesn't count. Ugggggg... I swear for the last two years between my job and my husband we can't seem to get back on the right track. THANK GOD he just found an awesome job and pretty decent wages... I am not stressing as much as before.. but holy hell the thought of looking for a job again just blows my mind.
I think the girl that worked next to me totally threw me under the bus as well. She was SO two faced and a brown-noser it was unbelievable. I think they think she walks on water. She would get away with so much and every time I turned around I got called out on. It was pretty noticeable. I guess I would have never would have fit in anyways.
I honestly believe I was doing the job of two full time people and I made mistakes. I couldn't concentrate on what was important because I had to also handle half her job and answer the phones and greet people at the desk. How can anyone do a job that is SO detailed oriented and specific and also expect them to take care of little Sam and his mom calling ten times a day and leaving messages. Good example of yesterday, some student forgot his Valentines. Comes up. "Can I call mom." I say "Why?" He says, "I forgot my Valentines...... Okay, call her. He leaves message. She calls back. She leaves message for him to call dad. We call dad. Dad doesn't know. and it goes on and on.. 45 minutes later.. I am still not getting my work done. And funny thing is we allow this to happen because mom or dad will get all pissy about it and want to talk to the principal and of course she will say.. well let little Sam call home. It's a no win situation.

I'm sorry.....
Those things happen in our school office to. If Mr. and Mrs. Snowflake don't get their way they move up the chain to complain no matter what the original person working with them has done. It seems to be the way of this generation of parents.
Remember Snowflakes do no wrong........they too don't fall to far from the original Flake.......

Sorry! I was just thinking about your job the other day. I have a neighbor that was hired at our school (and lives 5 blocks away and can walk to work) and it made me think of you.
I've been thrown under the bus, it sucks, but sometimes it's the best thing that can happen. Bad co-workers stink. Something better will come along.

I'm so sorry. That just stinks.
I had one of those precious little snowflakes try to throw me under the bus last week. Luckily, I had witnesses against her lies.

Sorry it didn't work out.... But that's the way Office jobs work in schools... Constant interruptions from teachers, kids, staff and parents..... Not everyone can work that way.... So you know something more about yourself and can keep that in mind when you look for your next job.....

Glad you got out of that job. They probably did you a favor. They will eventually realize the other woman isn't all she leads them to believe, but it will cost a few more people their jobs before it dawns on them. In the mean time, you saved yourself a lot of grief down the road by getting out of there now.
Biggest thing - don't take it personal. And don't let this make you feel less than. Your next job will be a much better fit.

Thanks for the replies.. even you Yubon.. you bring such joy. I do believe another door will open. it just sucks cause I have never been fired from a job. Ever. It just kills me that I give my 100% and it wasn't enough. Oh I understand some kiddos need to be in touch with parents.. we usually know which ones they are and we are not heartless people. I won't go into details, but sometimes esp. this kiddo you just have to say no and it does not happen.

I'm so sorry! Didn't you try to get a job at a local university? Try again! Seriously, I worked at a university and loved it. Put your application in again. Sometimes large universities can be hard to get into but keep trying. I do hope things work out for you. Keep us updated.

I'm so sorry. My dh got fired from a job that he had put his heart into for several years. It really devastated him.
That firing put him on the road to his dream job. Keep your chin up. Everything will work out. Take this time to rest and regroup.
My dh has been doing the work of several people and has been so stressed. He switched teams, and his demeanor changed overnight. He is enjoying his job so much more. It took a long time to get to where he is.
You'll find a better position you love so much more. This situation might be a blessing in disguise. That doesn't mean it doesn't hurt and isn't stressful now. Be kind to yourself.

Aw, I'm sorry, that is tough. I once worked at a bank when my kids were small, I needed a part time job while waiting for my "real" job as a govt employee at an air force base working in security and IT, the hiring process is quite long and I needed so egging in between. I had lots of customer service experience, but hadn't worked in a bank before. It paid only a couple bucks above minimum, so I figured- how hard can it be?
Hard, that's how. I had the worst time balancing my drawer, it took me forever. I sold a lot of "extras" because I am good at sales, but I was a shit teller. I got fired after too many mistakes, and it was so embarrassing for me. thankfully the paperwork for the real job came through faster than I thought and I was only out of a job a couple months, but geez, I felt like a moron.
I'm not a moron, and neither are you, but everyone has things they are unsuited for- for me, it's banking, obviously! I'd venture even Yubon has things she sucks at too, lol. something will come along you like better and will do better at, I am sure, and sometimes it's valuable to learn what you aren't good at and don't like, even if the lesson is painful!

I know it's hard to see right now but this really can be a good thing. Getting fired was a pivotal step in my career growth about 20 years ago.
It's going to be ok.
Hugs.
