Thanks again everyone. She has walked this morning and we are hoping she can do everything on her own today. If so, she can go home tomorrow. She is in tremendous pain but that's unfortunately to be expected when you have open heart surgery.

Praying for dd and for you my friend. The walking she did today is a great accomplishment. Will she need rehab or PT of some sort?

Yes, she will need cardiac rehab but probably not for a month or so after we get home. They want her to do a lot of healing first. The sternum takes a while to heal.

Thank God I haven't had a need to be knowledgeable about this but it never occurred to me that they would need to break bones to perform the surgery. But of course they do. The sternum is there to protect her heart.

It's pretty much from her clavical to just below her bra line.

Sending prayers for less pain as she recovers.
I was off the board for a bit struggling with the flu so I missed this thread. Good to read the updates.

No prying at all, and am SO thankful to have each of you praying and thinking of her. It's more that the board is open and anyone in the world can read. KWIM? Thank you ALL for your sweetness and love! And we came home yesterday. Praise God! She has had a rough, rough road. This means lots of changes for the rest of her life, and we are trying to adjust. Some of them are quite sad but we know God has an amazing plan for her life. She has been through SO, SO much. But seemed so much better just being home yesterday afternoon. Pain is still a huge problem and will be for a while but each day is a day towards getting better. Thank you all again! We truly appreciate you!!!!
