Thank you so much everyone! I appreciate everyone's responses. I don't really know how to quote a number of people yet....
We are really trying hard to get cleaner/less processed. When I do eat fruit, I eat it how it comes. We haven't had juice in the house in years and don't do smoothies. I can see how it is absolutely sugar but when I compare it to how we were eating five years ago..well, it is markedly improved. Weight Watchers gives me accountability which is what I really need but I certainly don't love it all. I don't buy any of their foods. I would really like to not have to go at all but I have learned that I need the weigh-in. My leader's words aren't wrong but her tone is less than helpful and I am not the only one that feels that way. I think she is a "tough love" kind of gal, which normally I can take...the exception being how I am about my weight/health. She runs so many meetings though that there really isn't any switching.
I suppose it it all about perspective. Years ago, dinner would have been hamburger helper with a can of green beans. I would have run through McDonalds for breakfast and eaten school lunch with my class. Thinking about eating that way now makes me cringe. I still have 40 pounds that I would like to lose. I lost 100 pounds but still had more to g, then put 40 back on over a couple years during my FIL's illness and death. I have been back to it and just trying the best I can but I am my own worst enemy at times.
Thanks again for all the perspectives. It was exactly what I was looking for. I will for sure not overdo the fruit. I wonder if I would like some raw veggies in the morning? I will have to try it.

I think fruit and vegetables are equally healthy, but as a diabetic I have to be careful with fruit, and always have protein with it. That may help you feel full longer too.

Fruit isn't a bad choice for sure, but vegetables are better.
I follow WW - and count points. But it all comes down to calories in, calories out. Look at the calorie count of a banana compared to a serving of carrots. It's huge. So, while both are 0 points, you are bringing more calories in on the banana than the carrots.
If your choice is between a piece of fruit and a slice of cake - it's an obvious choice.
And while your Leader may have been passive aggressive, she's not wrong. If you eat fruit in great quantities and you stop losing on the scale, there's likely a correlation between that and the amount of fruit you eat. Maybe she could have talked to you about it differently. My BFF was perfectly on program a few weeks back, but had eaten like 5 lbs of cherries in a short period of time that week (not even joking) and gained. And that didn't include the other fruits she had also taken part in. Like anything else, it's all about moderation.
And as far as some people saying WW encourages you to eat pre-packaged foods and such and it's not healthy - yes, they sell bars and snacks, but I've never felt pressure to purchase those and incorporate them into my diet. We talk a ton about fresh, home cooked meals. It makes me sad if people are in areas where the meetings revolve around those types of topics.

There is WAY MORE SUGAR in fruit than in veggies. Think about diabetics. They need to limit their sugar intake. I would think that if you are loosing, then you are ok. If you're not loosing the amounts per week that you would like to, then take a closer look at the amount of fruit you are eating. It may be zero points but it does have calories. actually diabetes need to limit their CARB intake (sugars AND starches) not just their sugars but usually there's more fibre in starchy carbs and they may not spike the blood sugar as severely as sugary carbs...

This topic is a hot one for me so I will try to not be grumpy.
I have talked to many doctors & nutritionists about this topic. The people like Dr. Oz and some of these others who are demonizing ALL sugar, so that people are afraid to eat fruit, are doing more harm than good. Same with the way people act like potatoes are of The Devil. There is nothing wrong with eating potatoes! They ARE vegetables & they`re part of a healthy diet. The nutrients in fruit & potatoes (not fried potatoes, and not potatoes that are loaded down to the point where it`s a case of ``Would you like some baked potato with that sour cream & cheese?`` ) do balance out the sugar &/or carb issues.
I lost 15 lbs on Weight Watchers by cutting pop, overly processed foods, and fast food. I ate fruit. Probably had a banana every single day. Ate bread, again probably daily. Definitely had a potato almost daily. It`s about eating real food and watching portions.
Follow the food pyramid (in my case Canada`s Food Guide). Switch to whole wheat pasta.
Everything else is a fad created by people who want to make money off our food insecurities. All this Atkins, GI Diet, Wheat Belly, Glycemic Index stuff... I have no use for any of it.

There are fruits that have less sugar in them than others, so you can opt for those (ie berries instead of bananas)... But fruits are a great source if nutrients and vitamins, and I don't think you have to be 'scared' of them... I do think people, including me, have a hard time with serving sizes... Fruit serving sizes are smaller than veggie serving sizes, but I can eat way more grapes without a second though than I could ever eat of celery...

So, the question I guess (if you made it this far) is do you see fruits and veggies equally in terms of being a healthy choice? I think they are both important to maintaining a healthy diet, but I believe vegetables are the better choice. Some fruits, like grapes, mangoes and bananas, are high in sugar which means they are higher in calories. Also, vegetables are more 'nutrient dense'. According to many articles that I have read, the recommended daily serving sizes are 2 fruits and 5 veggies.

There are fruits that have less sugar in them than others, so you can opt for those (ie berries instead of bananas) It actually depends on the type of berries. I recently learned that blueberries have more than double the amount of sugar that strawberries have. That surprised me. And yes, bananas have more sugar than blueberries.

I know vegetables are best, but we still eat a significant amount of fruit and I'm OK with that. It is so much better than we were a couple years ago. That said, I have found a way to enjoy roasted veggies in omelets and that type of thing. I'm the only one that does, but I'm working on it.

I've done WW in the past. Your WW leader isn't very inspiring. When I did WW the first time carrots were not a zero point veggie. My WW leader would tell us "In my group carrots are free. You aren't here because you've eaten too many carrots. Besides if carrots are the only veggie you are eating we will know soon enough because your nose will start to turn orange!"
I for one prefer more fruits to veggies.
