I didn't. A few weeks ago I finished editing and formatting my SIL's doctoral thesis. It was a huge job for me since I'd never used APA style (not to mention the university had its own conflicting guidelines.) Turned out to be 204 pages. She turned it in, defended her dissertation on Monday, and is now Dr. SIL. I'm so proud of her!!!! Getting her PhD at 55 yo. She's just awesome.

A thesis for undergarments, no. I'm currently completing a dual thesis requirement for my Master's. One is occupational heat stress program development in a surface mine. My second is on how the economics of the commodities market impacts worker injury rates at a copper mine. I am pretty tired of talking about copper mining these days. We do t have a word count requirement, just page limit guidelines. I grew up on a copper mine- how interesting.

My master's degree is in voice performance. I had to perform an hour-long recital and submit lengthy program notes that detailed the history and analysis of each selection. And then take a series of cumulative exams in music history, theory and vocal pedagogy. My husband's master's thesis was a lot less work! LOL

For my history undergrad degree, I wrote about (get ready to snooze) the preacher Jonathan Edwards and his ability to unite colonists with a religious message that prepared them to unite for the American Revolution.
I still have a copy, but it was in a box full of flood water from Hurricane Sandy three years ago. My husband sat and dried every.single.page to save it for me.
I am now in the process of completing my research project for grad school focusing on morale improvement in the workplace. I'll be thrilled when it's done!

For my Masters in Reading Education we had to complete a clinical, sit for oral exams as well as written exams, write a thesis paper and pass a state qualifying exam. My thesis was on the cyclical nature of education as compared to economy and political leaning of the time. It was interesting to research (pre Internet) and a bitch to type. The thought of doing it again at this stage of my life sounds like a level in Dante's Inferno.

Wow, we don't half have some mega-intelligent Peas out there! I am very impressed with those of you who have written more than one such document. Once was quite enough for me!

For my Master's I researched Kindergarten entrance age and how it impacted later academic achievement. It had a snappier title, but I can't remember exactly what it was now. Basically I researched if being older when you started kindergarten made a positive impact as the child got older and went through school. What were your findings? shescrafty

The title of my master's thesis was something along the lines of Love and the Family in Flannery O'Connor's A Good Man Is Hard to Find. I argued that her attempt to connect failing family relationships to the characters' lack of true relationships with God is unconvincing. Since at the time (over 35 years ago), little had been written about O' Connor's fiction, nor did she have the status in the literary canon that she now enjoys, it was a pain in the ass to write. I could analyze all the stories in the collection myself, but literary theses must also respond to others' published opinions. Finding those was tricky, especially in the pre- Internet days.

I didn't, but I sort of did.
We had a thesis or non-thesis option for my Master's. I chose the non-thesis option because I was terrified about the idea of having to defend a thesis.
I did a research project and completed all parts of it-- review of lit, experiment, results, analysis, etc, and wrote it up. My advisor told me that I should have just chosen the thesis option because I had more or less done the thesis. He told me that he thought that my project could be suitable for publication or presentation with a little more polishing and he asked me to consider contacting him and doing that post-graduation. I never followed through with it, though.
I should have done the thesis option.

LOL I hope a college/university doesn't make its student write a thesis about undergarments Chances are, someone has written a thesis about undergarments. It is a very plausible topic for someone majoring in fashion or other textile/clothing related majors.

For my master's in marriage and family therapy I was required to do a comprehensive written and oral exam, and also had to write 3 thesis papers. The topics I chose were:
The Value and Uses of Therapeutic Ritual for the Treatment of Incest Variations in Family Systems and Feminist Concepts of Incest Preliminary Survey of Clients' Attitudes Toward Spirituality

I grew up on a copper mine- how interesting. Do you mind saying where? I loved my internship at the mine over the summer and was bummed jobs were not available full time. Such great people to work with! Don't mind at all. I was a colonial African baby, born when Zambia was still Northern Rhodesia. Grew up in Kitwe, Zambia, my late Dad was an artisan on the mines until we emigrated to South Africa. The region was known as the Copperbelt and in those days it was a very lucrative industry, a mixture of huge open pits and shafts. I know absolutely nothing about copper mining in the USA!

My masters thesis question was something to the effect of "Does the full inclusion model of special education benefit the learning handicapped student?" It had a much better title and I am sure if I hadn't just been working a 14 1/2 hour day I might remember what it was. At the time I was getting my masters I was a Resource Specialist teaching in a full inclusion model.

I did a thesis for a masters degree and mine was on Vietnam Veterans and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. It was a new diagnosis at the time and there was no internet to research anything and no books in the library. All I had was my internship at the VA which was starting treatment groups for PTSD and some information I was able to gather from a variety of sources.
Yes, I still have a copy someplace.

I wrote my thesis for my Master's degree in Social Work in 1985 --- a million years ago. The main thing I remember about it was the typing and retyping of all the pages. My typewriter had the correction strip ribbon, but it drove me nuts that you could still tell there was a correction. So I would re-type any page that had one until it was perfect. Of course, that was back in the day of research in the library using a card catalog and handwriting citations onto endless index cards to sort and resort for use. Good heavens... I am old. At any moment now, I'll start talking about walking to school 5 miles each way in the deep snow. Lol.
