Thanks all! You've talked me out of it! Can anyone recommend a job where I never have to talk to a human being again? That's really what I want.

Dont' go into Human Resources then! I hate to see you give up your valuable education and experience to pursue something totally outside of music though. I do like Gypsygirl's idea of the Homeschooling communities. You have a couple of large groups out in FortBend and I think there are also some up towards Tomball/Magnolia along with down in the Pearland/Friendswood/Clear Lake area. You also might think of private schools or daycares....could you do any type of travelling music program for schools that cant' afford a fulltime music teacher? As a music teacher, what part of the job (other than discipline) could you have farmed out -- anything? Who puts out music curriculum? Can you help create/write it or is that something each teacher creates themselves and just buys the separate pieces of music? And AN is right if you can find a niche like BurningFeather has.... but unless you get a lot of "word of mouth", you have to also become an expert at marketing through friends/social media. I ran a scrapbooking/paper piecing art shop on Jangle/Yahoo/eBay for about 4-5 years and while I made some money while being a SAHM and it helped pay off CC debt, it surely wasn't enough to replace a FT salary, but I was also watching a newborn/toddler/preschooler for those years. As soon as he hit Kindergarten I went back to a flexible fulltime job to be able to make a real salary.
