I'm thinking it's saying ideas because she want the money in addition to whatever other present you are bringing! Whaaat! I'd be hastily arranging a previous engagement.

I think an etiquette books seems quite appropriate for this bride-to-be. Bless her heart

Wishing well? My friend had one for her wedding back in the 90's with lace and stuff. I didn't know that was still a thing. Around here, birdcages are the thing now.

"Hi, I'm calling to RSVP, but I have a question. See, on the bottom, it says 'gift ideas' but then there's only one idea. I don't like that one. What else ya got?"

Lol. Who *doesn't* wish for money for gifts? It's just tacky to actually ask for it.

Maybe I should post this on my facebook page...on my birthday. Add my address to it, and tell everyone I prefer cash. LOL!! Yeah, I am going with tacky on this one.

You don't even need to bother with a card, just the envelope and cash will be fine.

I hadn't read this thread previously because I thought the title was an indication of your invite to this message board! Times are changing, but I just don't understand some people.

Sounds like she maybe, possibly, sort of, could be planning to write a thank you note and needs your name. Then again, she already thanked you in the invitation. ETA: Make sure to put your name on the envelope. Otherwise, you'll get a phone call from either her or her mother asking about her gift.

I'm operating under the assumption that it's a wedding, so I'm more horrified that it says "my" wishing well, not "our".

Wow! I don't care if it's for a wedding, shower, gender reveal, picnic, birthday, graduation, bbq, or coming out party....that's a FULL TILT on the tacky-o-meter.

Nope. What the heck is her wishing well? Surely she isn't going to have one of those naff story book things in her garden? I think there are cardboard card boxes that fold up into the shape of a little wishing well. OMGOD I laughed so loud when I read this I woke up the dog and he's going ape shit like we have an intruder!! I would so call her and ask her!!

Now I wish I had saved all the tacky invites I've received.
I did save an invite to a High School Graduation Party. The front was emblazoned with "Your Invited" in huge letters. The irony was priceless.

Re-read the line: "Gift Ideas: Money in envelope with your name on it for my wishing well."
A wishing well is something for the "extras" - usually a kitchen gadget, dish towel or the like. So to me she is asking for a regular gift & then a little something in the well - aka. money.
Yes VERY tacky.

I would rather a person "be tacky" and tell me what they want so I can give them something they will use than guess and give them something that will land at Goodwill or waste real estate gathering dust. Are those the only 2 choices?
