What a fantastic story and great memory for you! You will remember that one forever!
Most spontaneous was a trip to South Beach in Miami---from Seattle! We were there for 48 hours. It was a blast!

Two summers ago I decided on the spur of the moment that I wanted to go to Glenwood Springs for the day and I invited my teen daughter to go along. We threw some clothes in a bag anticipating an overnight stay which turned into a 5 night, 6 day trip around the state of Colorado. We had no reservations, no set plan and had the time of our lives. each night when I would check in t home my dh would ask if we would be home the next day haha. I think he was starting to think we were never coming back because we were having too much fun. I need more of that in my life. It is hard to be disappointed with an adventure if you have no set plans to fall through. BTW - I am generally the type of person who lies to know where I will be every minute of the day.

The school district we live in gives the kids a Fri/Mon off every year in February. They call it mid-winter break and it's nice for a little 4-day weekend. DH & I were discussing on Tuesday of that week "let's get away somewhere for the weekend". Usually that means to Traverse City (small touristy town about 2.5 hours away). That's our standard getaway location. Nope, dh found a great deal on flights and hotel, so 48 hours later, we were on a flight from MI to Orlando. Long weekend visiting Universal Studios
