We finally saw Dr strange. It was good but i can't believe Benedict cumberbatch's beautiful sounding British voice got turned into an American accent. We we also saw Fantadtic Beasts. Also liked it and am curious about the next once. My my most anticipated movie is Passengers with Chris PrattWe can't wait! Jennifer Lawrence has had the market on Thanksgiving/Christmas movies for quite a while with the Hunger Games and now this. Our two must see December movies are Rogue One and Passengers

We saw Allied today with Brad Pitt. There were many tense moments so we both liked it. Nothing like the tense moments between Brad and Angelina though. What goes about, comes around.

Saw Dr. Strange over the weekend. I liked it because there was a lot less fighting, explosions, crashes and macho bravado than in the typical Marvel genre. I thought the humor was well done. I'm looking forward to seeing Manchester By The Sea with Casey Affleck because it's been getting a lot of positive buzz.

We went to see The Edge of Seventeen today. We both liked it ~ me probably a bit more than DH ~ but he still gave it a 7/10. The entire movie we were trying to place the actress who played Nadine and came home to Google her. She was the young girl in the remake of True Grit.

I created a post earlier - my sis in law and I saw Nocturnal Animals last weekend while it was out in limited release. I don't want to spoil anything - but will just say - I'm curious what the Pea's think. The critics are raving. Here is the link to my post Nocturnal Animals Post

I went to a preview of "Collateral Beauty" last night, the new movie with Will Smith. It was so good. I think if you have recently lost someone, it would be difficult to watch. It was pretty sad at times but overall uplifting. I really liked it.

Just got back from seeing Jessica Chastain in Miss Sloane in what DH and I consider an academy award nomination performance. Two enthusiastic thumbs up!

I was away this weekend with my dd, but had Saturday night to entertain myself. So I picked a movie that neither my family or husband would want to see- Manchester By the Sea. I know this was loved by the film critics, but it was seriously like watching paint dry-super slow and in the end it didn't look a whole lot different than wet paint. The acting was wonderful and I enjoyed the depiction of that area of the country, but I was so disappointed I wasted my movie choice on it.

I went to see Hacksaw Ridge on Saturday. It was amazing. I give it 10 stars. We were one of the first to leave the theater and when I turned around all these guys were coming out with red, watery eyes. I bawled like a baby. Of course, it struck a cord with me as my late husband was in Vietnam and I could see how it affected him.

I saw The Edge of Seventeen today. LOVED IT!!!!!!!! It is today's version of The Breakfast Club and it is so great! I am 48 years and went with my friend of the same age and we both fell in love with this movie. It is laugh out loud funny (thank you Woody Harrelson) and heartbreaking. If you were ever a teenager...you will relate to this movie. You will fall head over heels in with Erwin Kim as the awkward teenage boy. Seriously...go see this movie! I LOVED The Edge of Seventeen too. I also saw Arrival recently and liked it as well. Oh no! I really want to see this one. I'm okay with slow movies though - so maybe I'll like it. I also really want to see Moonlight and am waiting for La La Land and Hidden Figures. I will be on my own between Christmas and NYE and plan on watching as many movies as I can! (I don't get to see a lot of movies in the theater). Will also see Rogue One, Sing, and Moana with DD.

If you like slow movies, then you probably will like this. Admittedly I maybe caught one preview for this so I had no background info on it. I just knew that my dh would never pick this movie to go see in a theater.

I thought it was good, but I kept waiting for the big plot twist (based on several reviews I read). It never happened. I was a tiny bit disappointed, but the acting was amazing. If you're into rather deep character development kind of movies, this one has it. I agree that the movie just plods along. It was built up so much in my mind by the critics and in the end, I enjoyed it but I wasn't blown away like I expected.

There weren't many people in the theater I was at and I think most people were a little taken aback by it. It seemed really abrupt. I have to admit, that for a movie I didn't like, I'm still thinking about it. It's a very tragic movie for the main character, both in what happens to him and in the fact that there's no happily ever after. He will live out his life, but ultimately refuses himself to find any kind of joy. Save

Save I went to the movies with my two kids and soon to be ex DH (we have always loved movies, so I went mostly to make my son happy). As the movie ended and the screen went black, I whispered, "Huh?" to ex DH. He whispered back that it probably wasn't over yet and that we should wait until the credits were finished & the house lights were back on. So, like a goof, we sat there another 3 min., waiting to see if there was some big scene the very end. Of course, nothing happened and we walked out a little perplexed. I liked the movie, but in a strange way. It almost feels like I knew someone in this family who shared intimate details of their dysfunctions. I guess that is part of the appeal of this movie because the actors really seem to be their characters. I agree with you regarding Casey Affleck's character.

We saw Office Christmas Party this weekend. It is exactly what you'd think it would be like. Raunchy, thin plot line, but funny moments.
DD saw Nocturnal Animals last night and loved it.

I had a different experience with Noctournal Animals - but also thought Office Christmas Party was exactly what I thought it would be and had a few laugh out loud moments. My DH kept nudging my arm during the movie because I'm in HR...Kate McKinnon is my new best friend. LOL!

Fun fact: Katherine Johnson was TWO when the 19th Amendment was certified. Fun corollary: That means her birthday is also National Women's Equality Day.

Just got back from seeing the movie Lion. We had never heard of it and took a chance. Two enthusiastic thumbs up. Here is the short synopsis: Adapted from the non-fiction book A Long Way Home by Saroo Brierley, LION is about a 5-year-old Indian boy and his survival. That's all I'll say because I don't want to give anything away.
