I saw Richard Jewell as well. It was extremely thought-provoking. Kathy Bates nails her part. She's up for an award. The way he was portrayed by the media -- very disturbing.

We watched 6 Underground on Netflix tonight. I told my husband I was in the mood for an action movie, and man did this movie deliver! It’s a Michael Bay movie, so there were car chases, explosions, and gratuitous gore galore! 😄. Also Ryan Reynolds is in it, and he’s always fun. I really liked this movie. It had a pretty good plot, and I got a little teary in some places. But man was it action packed. I usually multi-task while we watch things on tv, and I couldn’t take my eyes off the screen. So many tiny details to catch, and so many big things to take in.

Saw Jumanji on Christmas day. It was super cute. Maybe not quite on par with the last one but a fun Christmas day movie!

Saw Richard Jewell today, it was tough in places since I was at the park that night and had actually been seating on those benches, but left before the bombing (thank goodness) and I lived a few miles from Richard Jewell and passed his apartment and the media circus every day. The editor of the Atlanta Journal was there after the movie and did a Q & A with the audience (trying to have some good PR since they are not shown in a positive light in the movie) Good movie and great acting

I saw Little Women yesterday... By some of the comments I heard, I think some viewers in the theater had problems following along with the jumps back and forth in time, but since I've read the books at least 25-30 times, I had no issues with that.
Besides a couple parts that I thought were miscast, I really liked it. I want to reread the book again to check whether a few things were actually in the book or *added* to the movie script, but I thought it was pretty faithful to the storyline in the book. And the sets, costumes, etc. were very well done.

And like you I’ve read the book a few times and seen the other films so it was easy for me to follow the jumps. But I can see how others would be confused. Timothy Chalamet as Laurie was not a good fit. He was too puny and mild. Did not love the actress playing Amy for that role. I like her okay, she just wasn’t right for the character.

It was a flashback! She was sick more than once!! how hard is that to follow, anyway?!? But I didn't... eta: I agree with Laurie being miscast; and Bob Odenkirk will never be anyone but Saul the lawyer for me, unfortunately.

I actually laughed when the scene came on with Mr March coming home. I told my DH "it's Saul"! I think if you were not familiar with the story that all the jumps in time could have been confusing. Dh had trouble understanding.

Just saw Uncut Gems with Adam Sandler. We did not like it at all. Not sure what the critics are seeing in it.

Just saw Uncut Gems with Adam Sandler. We did not like it at all. Not sure what the critics are seeing in it. really... was it the story you didn't like, or Sandler's performance? I recently heard the NPR Fresh Air interview with Adam Sandler and the two guys who wrote the movie, and the main character is loosely based on the writers' father, who was in the diamond / jewelry trade industry in New York (heavily embellished, of course). The interview made the movie sound interesting; plus, I thought it would be a nice change to see Adam Sandler in a dramatic role. How was his performance?

My husband is probably one of Adam Sandler’s biggest fan but when the movie was over he asked me if he could get the last 2 hours of his life back. Adam Sandler wasn’t bad it was more the movie itself. So disappointing having heard such rave reviews. I’d love to hear if anyone else has seen it.

We just back from seeing Uncut Gems. Wow. I don’t even know what to think of the movie. I still need to process it. The opening was ... odd. The beginning felt like it was all over the place. If you’re offended by f-bombs (I’m not), skip this movie. Lots of them. Would love to hear others’ opinions of this movie.

I saw an awesome movie on Disney Plus this weekend, TOGO ! If you like dogs and adventure this is the movie for you. PLUS the dog lives !!!!!!!
It’s a true story about a man and his sled team that are trying to get meds to a town who has an outbreak of diphtheria in Nome Alaska. Togo was the lead sled dog of Leonhard Seppala. He ran over 250 miles, while Balto (who even has a statue in Central Park NY) along with other sled dogs, ran an average of around 30 miles.
It’s a wonderful story that has everything; puppies, adventure, tension filled sea crossing, grateful neighbors. Priceless story. If you don’t have Disney Plus, fine someone who does !!!

Just got back from seeing 1917. DH and I both said we felt like we were holding our breath for 2 hours. It was amazing, horrifying and heartbreaking. If you think you've *seen* the movie because of the previews, you have no idea... As we were driving home I told DH that we will watch something *light* tonight ~ like continuing with season 7 of Homeland on Showtime.

Just saw 1917 -- the photograph is, sometimes, beautiful, but the rest of the story is pretty saccharine. I don't understand how it got the Golden Globe. Nothing "wrong" - just nothing "great"

1917 blew me away!
I was not expecting it to be that good.
At the beginning I was hardly paying any attention to the so-called lead character. And then.. well, anything further would be a spoiler.
Recommend.

Funny People and Spanglish are 2 older but really good movies with Adam Sandler in the lead dramatic role. He is an excellent dramatic actor. Definitely want to see Uncut Gems, but will probably wait and see it at home.

Adam Sandler plays his character perfectly. Tea Leoni is amazing in it as well (I don’t love most of her things, so I was very surprised at how much I loved her in this role). And the woman that plays Flor was wonderful too. Everyone is wonderful. Oh, and if you have them DVD, there is an extra at the end where Thomas Keller teaches you how to make that sandwich that Adam makes and it’s amazeballs. (Adam based his character on Keller so he came in to show Adam how he cooked so he could nail some of his mannerisms in the kitchen).

I haven't seen Uncut Gems yet but I want to.

I saw Jojo Rabbit and absolutely loved it. I tried to search but maybe I didn't go far enough back in the thread (lol). I laughed, I cried, I got angry, I laughed some more, and it filled me with hope. So good.
