We saw Mission Impossible on Wednesday. Usual fun movie with lots of action and trying to keep all the movie parts straight. I forgot to tell DH it was part one and the second part will probably come out next year. Oops!
Saw previews for the prequel to The Hunger Games. It's based on the book which is about why Snow turned out like he did.

We saw the movie Dumb Money last month: Everyday people flip the script on Wall Street and get rich by turning GameStop into one of the world's hottest companies. In the middle of everything is Keith Gill, a regular guy who starts it all by sinking his life savings into the stock. When his social media posts start blowing up, so does his life and the lives of everyone following him. As a stock tip becomes a movement, everyone gets wealthy -- until the billionaires fight back and both sides find their worlds turned upside down. We both enjoyed it.
Today we saw The Marsh King's Daughter: The critics panned it but we went in not knowing anything about the story and quite enjoyed it. A thriller for sure.

Today DH, DS and I went to see The Hunger Games: Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes. I had read the book but it was 3 years ago. I knew the overall theme of it being the 10th hunger games and was focused on a young Snow and why he became what he was in the older movies/books. Viola Davis was great. 4/5 stars

Has anyone seen the new Aquaman movie? I have not, but the consensus from the critics I follow is that it's fine if you go in with low expectations. it's not as bad as the last Dr Strange, but it's not "good" either.

That is what I have heard too. None of my Marvel friends have seen it yet so I have no non critic reviews to go off of. Dh and DD want to see it. They are both Marvel fans. I am like not this time.

Certainly not a new movie, but our local theatre has a monthly movie club night and last night we watched "Remember the Night" with Barbara Stanwyck and Fred MacMurray. It was good holiday fun. We had never seen it or even heard of it. Premise is a shoplifter gets taken home for Christmas by the DA who is prosecuting her and hijinks ensue.
A late vote that's likely not in theaters but I think it's about to stream on Peacock and become rentable elsewhere is "The Holdovers" with Paul Giamatti and a great cast. He's a disliked, cranky boarding school instructor who gets saddled with the "holdovers", kids who have nowhere to go over the holidays. We laughed, we cried, we felt all the feels.

We watched Leave the World Behind on Netlfix last night. Critics liked it, audiences hated it (per Rotten Tomatoes). We were on the fence. Great acting, the storyline is interesting, it's long (and a bit slow), but definitely makes you think! Overall, I'd give it a 6/10.

I predicted what happened at the end but didn't realize it would be the ending.

I watched SALTBURN the other day and while it’s a little cringey in a couple parts, I really liked it.

We saw The Iron Claw at the movies yesterday.
"The true story of the inseparable Von Erich brothers, who make history in the intensely competitive world of professional wrestling in the early 1980s. Through tragedy and triumph, under the shadow of their domineering father and coach, the brothers seek larger-than-life immortality on the biggest stage in sports."
Although we're not wrestling fans, the movie was worth seeing ~ the first part was kind of slow but it got going after a while. Heartbreaking story. Zac Efron had to bulk up and the results were amazing! Jeremy Allen White from The Bear starred as one of the brothers.

I recently saw Disney’s “Wish” and thought it was just ok. I thought younger kids might find it a little hard to understand. It had quiet a few cute Easter eggs in the movie, nods to Snow White, Peter Pan, etc.

We saw The Beekeeper today starring Jason Statham and Josh Hutcherson (Peeta from Hunger Games).
"One man's brutal campaign for vengeance takes on national stakes after it's revealed he's a former operative of a powerful and clandestine organization known as Beekeepers." There is a LOT of violence. No surprise because that's the type of movies Stratham makes. The first part of the movie made my blood boil. Every senior citizen should watch the first part.
As we were leaving the theater, an old couple asked us how we liked the movie. I said it was for a good cause. She said they thought it was awful. I wanted to ask why they didn't get up and walk out. I guess they thought it was going to be a happy film about beekeepers.
The movie could have toned down the violence but I give it 7/10 stars.

Saw American Fiction a couple of weeks ago and enjoyed it very much. I know it has several Oscar nominations including Best Picture, Best Actor and Best Supporting Actor. I went in with no expectations and enjoyed the humor and the family interactions.

We saw this yesterday and I agree 100000% about the beginning of the movie, I was sitting there seething. I usually like these types of movies but I thought it was kind of silly. Everyone played their roles well…the bad guys were extra smarmy and I liked the good guys. We hadn’t been to the movies since last summer so I was just glad to see something in the theater.

We just watched Oppenheimer last weekend. It was good, but way too long. I thought Emily Blunt did a great job. Apart from her character I didn't see why it was nominated for so many Oscars.

We just got back from seeing the movie Land of Bad. "When a Delta Force team is ambushed in enemy territory, a rookie officer refuses to abandon them. Their only hope lies with an Air Force drone pilot as the eyes in the sky during a brutal 48-hour battle for survival." The film stars Liam Hemsworth, Russell Crowe, Luke Hemsworth, Ricky Whittle, and Milo Ventimiglia. Obviously there is violence but it is *hold-your-breath* suspenseful throughout. Plus Liam and Milo.

Do not recommend 'Lisa Frankenstein.'
Dd liked it. It is a rom-com horror movie. Not my cup of tea.
