It must be very hard to lose your hair and for it to come back totally different than it was before. I have short fine hair and I use nothing at all and haven't for several years. I don't even let my hairdresser use shampoo on it. I rinse with water whenever I shower and towel it dry. No product, no need for shampoo or conditioner. I found that when I quit shampooing my hair it balanced itself out and I didn't need to add back any moisture because I hadn't stripped it out with shampoo. I weaned my hair off shampoo over time, cutting back on frequency and the amount of shampoo I used, but I imagine not everyone will have the same results or will want to go through the weaning process. I also don't use styling product because I have a good cut that suits what my hair wants to do and is shaped for my face. I don't know if giving up everything would work for you or not or how long it would take for your hair to adjust, especially given that it's damaged from the treatments, but if you want to read more about people giving up shampoo there is information online - they usually use the term "no 'poo"

I love my short hair. It's very fine but thick. I love Bumble & Bumble City Swept. I can't NOT was h my hair because bedhead is so awful but the product makes my hair look a day dirty and it works.
Find a GOOD stylist. BRING PICTURES. Those two things help immensely.
Congrats on getting through a very tough time!!

Congratulations for getting through chemo.
I have had short hair for most of my adult life, and prefer to keep my hair short. I look better with short hair. I wash every other day and use Redken products that I purchase at Ulta.
I agree that you should speak with a stylist at a good salon, as they can help with a cut, and product recommendations. It will take some time but I'm sure you will have healthy hair once again.

I sympathise , as my hair is getting really thin and sparse since I finished my treatment, plus losing my ovaries has been a double insult to my hair.
I am trying to concentrate on diet and supplements and have started using something called 'grow gorgeous' which was recommended to me by a friend who went through the same thing. I have gone back to very basic sulphate free shampoo and use a Philip Kingsley spray ( maximiser) as both styling product and conditioner. I used to be able to wash every third or fourth day and just brush my bob in between, with an occasional blast of dry shampoo, but now I have to mess with it very day which is a bore- plus it never looks half as nice as my third-day no care hair I had before chemo!
