I was in Winnipeg last weekend for a wedding. The weather was sunny, warm and gorgeous. I'd send a bouquet of flowers to arrive the day after I left. The other girls had great suggestions on how to be a good guest. I'll just add make your bed every morning.

or in the shower. I have a very funny (now) story about a boyfriend, a shower and his father that didn't knock. How about a no boinking in her parents house at all rule unless they're married? Are your sons old enough to have girlfriends to be visiting and boinking? Or NOT boinking? My last suggestion would be don't leave your shoes around for people to trip on. That bugs the crap out of me. They are way past the age where worrying about boinking is on my radar.

My nephew is my favorite guest. He always brings his own blow up mattress and sheets.

All these suggestions + after he gets back from the trip, send a kick-ass flower arrangement with a nice message thanking the host and hostess. I either do this before my visit or immediately thereafter. It has gone over REALLY well each time. I love the flower idea, for a thank you gift, either before the visit (to arrive when he does as someone suggested) or right after. I also think treating the family to dinner, is very nice.

When he takes a shower, take the shower and be done. Don't spend hours standing in there with the water running. We had guests once that (a family of 5 people) that seemed to take an hour each in the shower. They also sit on the arms of the sofa/chairs and stayed in the refrig constantly. They have not been invited back.
Flowers would be a nice gift for the mother, maybe a fruit basket.
