How big did yours end up being? I'm just about finished with part one and am still on the fence about whether I want to continue or not. The colors aren't meshing for me. mine is about 20 inches.. i am using worsted weight and i just finished part 3. i think its going to be HUGE, but i can stop at any round i want. Its weird thinking about colors, because the blanket is a mystery. Theres no picture of the finished blanket. I was really hesitant about my colors at week one, but they've grown on me. Try not to worry too much about colors. By round 3 you may end up loving it! This is gorgeous - I love the colors!

I finally finished the last sock. I'm going to knit something for me and then decide if I want to do more socks or something else.

Firstly we need a photo of your progress. And secondly now that you've started and are seeing more crochet posts etc...by the time you finish this blanket, there might be something you want to make more. Since joining that CCC Facebook group that spitfiregirl posted a few pages back, I see something I want to make every day and have to talk myself off the ledge! I'm saving lots of pages and patterns though, but I'm not letting myself buy more yarn until I'm ready to start making the next thing. I did learn something from the whole scrapbooking "product collection" fiasco! Yes ma'am! (Really ought to be a saluting smilie there) (Just a quick night-time snap). I really see see the temperature blanket - which will be a large but very simple project - as something I'll do alongside other more interesting/challenging stuff rather than doing it alone start to finish so I'm not worried about that. Thanks to those that have shared what they're doing for theirs. I am really unsure whether I'll go for lots of colours or relatively few. Our temps here typically range between 45 and 80, with just a few days a year outside of that. A ten degree range per colour means I could go 20+ days of the same colour several times a year. Going down to a three degree range would reduce the maximum run of a single colour to more like a week and would still only be 13 or 14 colours. I'm leaning towards that, but so many means it's harder to pick them!

ETA: Looks like you have off-white, gray & maybe light blue? I definitely think I'm going to start over.

Well I finished my granny square afghan/blanket (never know what to call it)...and it's now hanging over the back of my sofa and that cat is definitely enjoying it! Amazingly Angelique managed to stay off it while I took these photos:
I'm really happy with how it turned out and it was a good project to get my crochet skills back up. I really like the look of crocheting the squares together rather than sewing then, I think it's a nicer effect...not my idea, I found it while looking for inspiration online and decided to use it.
Now that's finished I've made a start on my Attic 24 ripple afghan - I'll take a photo tomorrow. I've done 7 colours so far and I really like using the Stylecraft yarn. I know lainey mentioned having "squeaking" issues, but it hasn't happened to me so far.
Great to see everyone's work! Gorgeous. All I can think of is how many ends had to be woven in.

I love grey and I wouldn't change a thing about what you have so far!!! Please can you tell me what colors and brand of yarn you are using??? This project intimidates me as I just started crocheting about 4 to 6 weeks ago but I've seen a few people mention that it isn't too difficult. Would you say a beginner would be able to follow along okay? Thanks.

Since you don't have to rely on experience to decode the instructions, but just watch, I think that you should be able to do it.

Thanks elaine. Do you know about how long she leaves up the instructions and videos? I need to finish my temperature blanket first and will need probably another 2 months or so given my busy work schedule. I just finished the half way mark of the rows so that is good but I want to do 2 rounds of border as well.

I would be surprised if they aren't up for well over a year or five, otherwise people will be emailing her asking for them non-stop as they stumble upon the pattern on Ravelry. You should have plenty of time.

Thanks elaine. I looked at the first weeks pdf file and watched some of the video and while the written instructions are completely overwhelming, the video is wonderful. The lady posting the videos has done an incredible job in showing and explaining the stitches and the process. I've grown quite comfortable with my hooks and have attained good yarn tension so I will definitely try this after my temperature blanket.

I finally finished the last sock. I'm going to knit something for me and then decide if I want to do more socks or something else. These are amazing. I hope to be able to knit like this someday. I just finished a pair of toe-up socks and I'm not very excited about them.

It's a good yarn that use for most of my blankets and it comes in lots of colors and the price is right. I think that you should try this project and also join the mandala madness ravelry group. There are many helpful ladies that will answer any questions really fast. The videos are amazing too. Make sure you have some locking stitch markers. Make sure you take your time. Rewind, redo. It's a learning process and sometimes things need to be frogged, so don't get discouraged if you decide to redo a row. It's all part of the process. Make sure you share your progress!!!

Yes ma'am! (Really ought to be a saluting smilie there) That looks great, well done! You've really taken to crochet.
I'm really liking the colours even though it's so far out of my comfort zone, I almost didn't use the 'spice' colour because it's just so bright, but I talked myself back into it.
Mine is also the cozy pack, plus 4 extra colours. Here's my progress on the ripple blanket:
if you make it to the end of the mandala madness, its over 5000 yards! So, you need more yarn ! lol Ack, I didn't know it was going to be that big! You're right - I'm gonna need a bigger boat...lol. I did buy some fairly cheap yearn today, they were having a sale and it was $3 a ball, so I bought a few balls in a few different colours to play with. I also want to do some of the squares for the 'Last Dance" CAL, not sure If I'll make the whole thing but I thought I'd start and see.
ETA: As I joined the Scheepjes CAL 2016 FB group, they had a post up saying they were bringing out new colours in one of their acrylic ranges (don't remember exactly which one) but one of them will soon have 90 colours...edited. it's their Colour Crafter range, although it didn't say when the new colours would be available.

There were several things that I hadn't encountered before, but she does seem to explain them well, and provides helpful links for the new/different stitches. Just take it slow and pay close attention. The full picture pattern was very helpful.
I'm pretty sure I'm also going to scrap the pattern colors for something more to my taste. I'm just not good with "random".

That is seriously the best-named yarn ever. I say it to myself regularly while using it.
How many skeins did you get? I was trying to price the one-pound & big-ball yarns online yesterday and was still grumping about the price, but that's just because I'm a cheapskate. I had been excited about following the pattern colors because I could use stash yarn.
Thought - in a project like this, does all the yarn have to be the same brand? I'm the kind of person who would want them to be, but how noticeable would it be? Has anyone done this?

jennyap, if my weather was like yours, I wouldn't pick a 10 degree range either. I'm in Michigan, though, so 10 degree ranges ended up being 7 different colors and from about 0 degrees up to over 80 degrees in July. I've been working on mine since January 1st and Michigan weather is really so volatile, I think the longest I went with a solid color was only five days and it happened like once in all these months. It's pretty varied. I'm curious to see what you decide on.

Here is my blanket as of yesterday. My temperature range is 14 colors with a 5 degree range each. The pink area is the top as I started with August 13th (my daughter's birthday). I am doing her first year temperatures as a gift for her 20th birthday coming up. I am now 4 rows beyond the half point of the blanket. It is 52 inches wide and 36.5 inches long so far. I want to do 2 rounds of border stitches but I haven't worked that out definitely yet. I'm using I Love This Yarn and single crochet stitches.
All the beautiful photos of the Mandala Madness have me so excited for that project. I think it will be a while before I get back to my sewing machine. One thing I LOVE about crochet is that you don't have to starch, iron, cut and pin before getting going with some visual progress!!Attachments:

After finishing those socks, I wanted something quick and simple and for myself (maybe). I made this: I'm thinking about selling it or offering similar ones for sale to help pay for my boys' Disney trip next year.

@dknitter I love that! Really unusual...you should definitely sell them. pjaye, I love your ripple blanket. Are you doing one row or two of each colour? Here is another picture I don't think I uploaded. It's a ripple blanket I made for a friend. If I made it again, I probably wouldn't put the pale yellow and the pale mint together because they look weird in this photo, but it worked in real life, I promise! And she paid me for it, so that was a bonus.

pjaye, I love your ripple blanket. Are you doing one row or two of each colour? I'm doing two...I think it's just because it's a small photo, if you click on it to get the bigger version it looks exactly the same as yours! Great job on yours I hope your friend is enjoying it. am new to crocheting and this is my first big project looks great. I think the beauty of crochet is that you can get the hang of doing a few basic stitches really quickly and it looks good so it motivates you to keep going. Plus those Attic24 packs are so fun to use and don't break the bank. The sunny pack looks great in that blanket, I'm less of a fan of the original design for that pack.
