Original thread: I was expecting some clothes yesterday to be delivered via FedEx. But of course, they transferred it to the damn post office. My husband works from home, 15 feet from our front door and when a package is delivered they put it between the storm door and the main door and he can hear it. The post office says that they show the package being scanned at the GPS location of our house at 11:57 am, when DH was sitting at his desk having his lunch and surfing the internet and he never heard the door open.
The PO manager is going to check with the mail carrier today to see if they remember leaving the package or if it was possible that she scanned it at our house and then mis-delivered it (seems unlikely). I suppose it IS possible that someone stole the package, but that means DH would have missed hearing the door both when the post office delivered it and when the person came to steal it. Which, given how noisy our storm door is, seems very unlikely.
So, does anyone know what happens when they say the delivered it but we don't have it? The clothes were from Avenue and I'm not sure if they are insured or not. Would Avenue be on the hook? I just want my damn clothes.
*****UPDATE (Sun) - no package yet. I was really hoping it would come yesterday. DH did check the neighbor's porches and no package. Plus the manager didn't call back Friday afternoon like he said he would. Surprise, Surprise. I will be on the phone first thing Monday morning.
Across the main road there is a house whose only difference in address from ours is that ours is "Place" and theirs is "Court". So "Pl" vs "Ct". I told DH while we are out today we should swing by there to see if it's sitting on their porch.
****2nd Update (Sat) - well, DH spoke to the mail carrier on Monday. She swore she remembered putting the package between our doors and felt terrible that she didn't ring the bell. Everyone agreed the only explanation was that the package had been stolen. So I gave the store the Post Office Incident number and they said they would investigate and get back. On Wednesday morning, they agreed to re-ship my stuff, but of course the one thing I wanted was out. So they refunded me that. So yesterday was Friday and my replacement order came. I was pleased that they were so prompt.
But TODAY (Saturday), my DH goes to the door and says, "Oh, did you buy MORE stuff from Avenue." I did not. The original freaking package was neither delivered nor stolen. It was apparently in some alternate universe much like that ribbon thing in that Star Trek movie that Captain Kirk was in for many years. But now it's at my house. WHAT.THE.HELL? The PO swears they delivered it last Thursday (a week and 2 days ago) and the the GPS gave the exact location (my house). So now I have to go through the crap of returning the replacement order and then re-paying for the item that was in the original shipment. Piss.
Did you husband see who brought the package? postal employee??
Is it possible a neighbor had the package and brought it over?
Yes, I'd be pissed also.
