Is it bread that is the outside "crust"? What kind of bread is it?

another vote for this!! we had them when i was a kid and have looked at mountain equipment co-op, canadian tire, all over the place to find them but no luck. when i tell the 21 year old they are called pie irons, i get a blank stare. when i try to explain them... blank stare continues..... perhaps i should ask if they have pudgy pie iron??  |

Is it bread that is the outside "crust"? What kind of bread is it? That would just be normal white bread although you can use the crusts.
Sweet ones can be done with raison bread with apple etc inside.
