*UPDATE - May 4, 2016*
I'm sorry it has taken me so long to update.
Here is a photo of G with her wonderful replacement cup, which she was super happy to receive.
And . . . the name of this awesome company is Print the Party. I exchanged another couple of emails with the owner of the company, Kelly, and she said that they are working on a new website and I should receive an email when it is launched. I'll update for the final time when I receive that email.

But I picked G up from school ready to hear how today went as she was anxious about facing M when I dropped her off this morning.
G said they were at the same table in math and it was 'super awkward' and finally M apologized and seemed genuine. She also offered to pay for the cup. So kudos to M, G was very appreciative of the apology. I'm on my phone so I don't know how to do a thumbs up smiley.
Also, someone mentioned G's friends and how sweet they are. Yes - and I don't ever want either of us to take that for granted. I texted the moms of those two sweet girls and thanked them for raising daughters that are awesome friends and made sure they know how appreciative I am that they were looking out for G.
ORIGINAL POST:
11-year-old DD "G" got in the car yesterday after school and I could tell something was wrong. When I asked how her day was: "totally suckish" and her lip started quivering. I skipped the lecture on the use of "suckish" this time since as soon as the words were out of her mouth the tears started.
So apparently, a girl in G's class, "M" (G has mentioned M before and described her as "a mean girl", but she's never been mean to G, but to other classmates and friends and G has witnessed it) got upset about something that happened between M and the science teacher, and M slammed the classroom door and picked up the nearest object she could get her hands on, which happened to be G's personalized water cup that she got for her birthday in January. Before anyone could react, M threw the water cup at the floor. Another student picked up the cup in an attempt to give it back to G and the bottom of the cup fell apart and water poured out all over the floor.
G went down the hallway to the bathroom because she didn't want to cry in front of the entire class. Two of her closest friends followed shortly afterwards to check on her after the teacher said it was ok to do so. I wish I could have seen it, because G said they showed up out of breath, hands on hips, and one of them said "oh, don't worry about M, that situation is being taken care of!".
G went back to class, very embarrassed that M made her cry and everyone knew it. She was upset about the water cup, but more than anything, she was humiliated and upset that someone that had been friendly to her in the past would do something like that.
We stopped at Sonic on the way home and talked about it and I thought to look in my email to see where I had ordered the water cup, to see if I could replace it. It was one of those daily deals back in December and the only info I had for the company that created the cup was an email address. I sent an email to the company asking if I could order another cup and heard back pretty quickly. The owner said she would see if they had any more cups like that one in stock. In the course of our email exchange, I told the owner that I wouldn't be going out of my way to replace the cup had it been broken out of G's carelessness or irresponsibility, but that she was upset about the cup being purposefully broken at school.
After I sent that email, I received an email from the science teacher telling me what had happened and asking how much the cup cost because she wanted to help replace it. She said that it was difficult for her to see G so upset and she felt horrible about what happened. So nice . She also mentioned that she had handled the situation with the other student - no idea what that means and I realize that I likely will never know, which is fine.
Soon I received a response back from the owner of the cup company, who said that they did have the cup in stock, they would mail it out to us next week and, that it was on the house! She asked me to tell G . . . "Mean girls never win. Pay this forward, hold your chin up and keep being kind to others". More
Obviously (after I finished having a little Mom sob) I emailed the owner back and thanked her profusely. I also asked her for her company website because I wanted to share it with a few thousand friends. When I have that info I will update - I know that I for one will be customer for life.
Just wanted to share that little feel good story. It was nice that the teacher and the owner of the cup company were so kind and it redeemed the day. It was a great reminder that there still are some kind, caring people out there.
