Right now, we have the co-irker doing her annual, "Let's stink up the joint" routine with stargazer lilies. EVERY year she brings them in for a vase on her desk. EVERY year, she gets told to take them out because of the smell. Plus, they make people with allergies have big problems. The BEST part of all? SHE is the one with the worst allergies. She puts them on her desk and a few hours later is bitching and moaning about how bad her allergies are. EVERY year. Yeah, she's not too bright.

See, I had a similar problem except our office manager bitched whenever anyone would wear perfume or cologne. She was sensitive to it so no one should be allowed to wear it in the office. Um no, not happening. I think she took the fragrance thing too far because she had the worst b/o and I seriously doubt she wore deodorant. I couldn't stand to be near her. I think b/o is way more offending than perfume and I don't like strong perfumes either.

I have some kind of weird scent sensitivities and have learned over the years that I pretty much have to suck it up or remove myself. I think a lot of people just don't understand because we say "scent" but it is really a chemical sensitivity-or at least it is in my case. Certain products containing scents also have funky chemicals that send me into an itchy, hivey mess. My throat gets itchy and uncomfortable. Ive ve been told on more than one occasion that I am just being too sensitive, but when you are scratching yourself to the point of bleeding...i have had to leave work before when co-workers over zealously sprayed Lysol around. Some perfumes can can effect me the same way.

Ok I'm going out on a limb here to say I like perfume, lol.
I agree that when someone bathes in it, it's horrible. And I realize some people are allergic (my MIL being one), but where does that leave me when I like to wear it? I don't like heavy perfumes, I avoid patchouli like the plague. I like fresh and light fuity / citrus / hints of floral scents. When I use it, I do the spritz into the air and walk through it thing to be sure I don't put too much on.
So would that bother you? I'm asking seriously, as I would hate to be "that person" in the office. Nobody has ever said anything to me, and I've never noticed people avoiding standing close to me. But after reading this I'm a little paranoid!
